Catch and Release: best left uncaught

Featured Replies

Went to see "Catch and Release" yesterday, not with Emp. A friend of mine and I, in an attempt to hang out more often, go to chick flicks together. The first one we saw together was "The Holiday" which I really highly recommend, and would totally add to my meagre collection of DVDs.

Not so with Catch and Release. There was good potential for characters and even plotlines, but the whole thing fell rather flat. Kevin Smith was superfab in it, but Jennifer Garner shouldn't have wound up with a guy in the end, and dangit, why introduce the son character if it wasn't going to amount to something, likewise with the fishing metaphor. *sigh* so much potential wasted. There were some genuine laugh out loud moments, and we did so, even though there weren't many people in the audience, but sadly, I now can't really remember what most of them were.

Going to Smokin' Aces this evening with Emp, hopefully it will leave a better impression.
