I'm a big fan of an underdog story. People who shouldn't succeed in doing something, but manage to do it, anyway. 

"Tales of Epic Heroism and good vs evil" probably (for the simplest/shortest answer)

 

It might also be boiled down to 'farm/country/bumpkins being tossed into unplanned adventures with (or without) destinies they never knew about.' 

 

I read a wide variety of things, but that seems to be a common theme. *chuckles*

I think neeto's answers are perfect for me, love/romance mixed with magic and adventure and def underdog stories =)) and anything fantasy (dwarves, elves, specialty races)
