the whole plot was the kill the one man who had seen his face, right? so why hang around the police station, letting the whole precinct see his face, and walk out with seconds to spare, without being able to know when the fax would come through?

I don't think Keyser knew that there was a survivor of the boat explosion. The whole plan was to convince the cops that Keaton was Keyser Soze and Verbal walked out of the station believing he had done that.

 

The silly part was that if the only person who could identify him was Arturo Marquez, and he got murdered, then how did the man in the hospital know the man he described was Keyser Soze?

Because the people at the boat knew Soze was coming to kill Arturo....and this survivor saw him, and is now the "new" only person that can ID Soze.

 

 

Also, I got away with it......ha!
