I'm going to visit my sister in Nevada soon with a friend/co-worker, my youngest son, and one of my dogs (Holly). She is the chihuahua.

My parents have been watching my sister's chihuahuas while she has been teaching in China. They're alright dogs but they don't particularly like me. Kitten Moo loves swatting them around, however. :3

Yup. She found a decent program and volunteered. She likes it but I think she's ready to come home.

My niece speaks Chinese.

I did a semester of Mandarin, don' remember much. -_-;;

Lol, inthink that would be a really hard language to learn. My niece spent both an undergraduate year and post graduate year in Beijing.

The grammar is very straightforward - it's a subject - verb - object language, like English. The hardest part was the tonal shifts. With four different changes in pitch stress (which affect word meaning), you could find yourself in murky waters real quick.

 

The logograms themselves can be learned systematically but stroke order was killer. I'd like to go back and learn more someday.

Well let's see, im still working full time for the school with my job, and also a full time student with my classes that Im taking - the semester is starting off well so far. Might visit Las Vegas in a few weeks to see a family member. Saddened to hear the news about Robin Williams. Saw "Lets be cops" and thought it was a funny movie. Enjoyed a relaxing weekend and attended a poetry event. Oddly enough tonight feels a bit cold putside, summer is slowly fading away. And yikes, its going to be september soon!
