No, there was nothing on those message boards. I could post my problem there, but that would require me downloaded a program and then posting some code from my computer. I do not feel comfortable doing that with my work computer.

 

I did some searched and can find nothing out there concerning this problem, other than some vague references to problems when the Google toolbar is removed from a computer.

so if you remove the google toolbar google shuns you?

did you reinstall the tool bar to see if that fixed the problem?

 

Or reinstall your browsers... you do know you can make any installed tool bar disappear with out actually uninstalling it right?

Well I was using explorer, then the google problem started so I dled firefox, but it could not bring up google either.

 

I don't want to reinstall the toolbar as it was the IT guys that actually took it off.

ah.... well chances are when they removed the tool bar they screwed something else up... windows is known for that sort of problem. Short of reinstalling the tool bar or the browsers with the default, not sure there is much help for it.

 

Have you told your IT guys? provided it's not bad for you to use google on the job. I know I used it daily when looking for parts in my job as an engineer.

I have not been impressed with my IT guys. I picked up a few trojan horses from DM one day, told the IT people and they took my computer for the day. Cool. They returned it to me and... hold the phone.... I still have the trojans on my computer. No worries, I took the time to get rid of them.

 

Can I dl the toolbar without going to google? Would that really affect me going to www.gmail.com as well? It just seems odd.

Just go and buy an Apple Mac. It will solve all your problems! 8)

If you can't downloaded it I'm sure someone can download it for you and email it or you can put it on of those handy dandy portable harddrives that hold from 215MB to 2GB of files.

 

If it's affecting google, it's highly likely that it'll affect gmail as well because it's the same "domain" just with a different subdomain.

 

And Corki this is his Work PC he has no control over what he uses :P

Seems I just needed to deleted the host file. I am back on google after being off google for 2 months.
