So, I am looking for writing fodder and need some ideas for how to scare the pants out of people.

Points for ideas on how I can terrify the living daylights out of someone.

Write about what scares you. Chances are you have an intimate knowledge of it, one that only you can explain. Also, subtlety. Unless you are writing splatterpunk you dont have to spell out everything. Its what your readers dont see that will scare them most. Peoples imaginations are scarier than anything in print or on a screen, exploit this.

Mood, keep building that scare, let it settle, then build it up again with even more dread and ferocity. Who cares if the reader shots themselves.

Horror is a finely honed art, a raw emotion that twists our fears into brains while we sleep.

I'm pregnant... and the child is yours.

Write about a cannibalistic female who goes online to lure men. She could allow them to think that they will be getting sexual favors when in reality she takes them to a small shack she has in the woods. The woman would torture, rape, peel off flesh while they are living then kill them once they are useless.

oh, like we all haven't been taken to a mysterious shack by a masked and potentially cannibalistic woman you met on internet

Well, at least they get what they came for.

That's Verb's life story.

I like it! You should be a writer.

I'm actually starting to work on a story. I haven't written a story in like 5-6 years, just some dark poetry.

Ohhh I must find these cannibalistic women so i can befriend them. I have always had an interest in cannibalism.

I'm not sure if this thread terrifies or arouses me

God it's junior prom all over again

Terror and arousal go hand in hand

I'd love it if you posted it on the writer's board when it's done.

I didn't know there was a writers board on here. I will be sure to post it when I am done :)

10 points, but only because you have a good idea of scary.

Though the list of what terrifies me are "Adrian Monk" level of fear.
