Supposedly, Missy is back for the first episode. Maisie Williams is coming over from GoT for a guest spot at some point. And they've announced that River is going to be on this year's Christmas special.

 

Hopefully the writing will be better than last year.

Series 9 was awesome!!! Loved it!

Yep, this last season was really great. Haven't watched the Christmas special and the "arrival" of the 13th Doctor yet, because I am re-watching the whole New Who series!

I would've loved season 9 as a whole if they hadn't used freaking GALLIFREY as a backdrop for a Clara sendoff. You don't do that. And the diner thing was pretty dumb too in my opinion. I just wish they would've picked a story line and stuck with it: Gallifrey or Clara sendoff. 

The problem with Gallifrey, is the Doctor on the planet always causes chaos. It ends any current threats, but his presence always sets off another event. because they cannot tell what is going on and how the Doctor is involved. The Time Lords in short only know the Doctor is at the center of every threat, and they think that stopping him ends it. We know, that he is at the center of every threat, because he is trying to stop it.
