Hello :) Long time lurker, first time poster. On Friday, I received a very mysterious message from a guy friend at work - I've not been able to figure out what it means.... & this has prompted the courage to post something... I'm sure someone here can help.

 

In a nutshell, I'm horrible at riddles... I know this about myself & I'm OK with it :) I have googled everything I can think of to find the answer... but no luck. I'm thinking he made it up & there is no real answer. ?? Any ideas would be much appreciated.

the most obvious and literal thing that springs to mind would be legs... but i am not great at that kind of riddle either.

The first thing that hit me is 'w'. It can be upper or lower case (tall or small) it can be silent as in know (yet not at all) but I'm not sure about the smile and angst part. But it is in walking and not in talking. I've never been real good at riddles either but it seems to me that the answer is usually something obscurely obvious. If that makes any sense.

I thought of shoes.

(Women especially get very emotional about their shoes) It can be small, tall, and yet not at all. (Shoes come in various sizes, and going barefoot is an option) What is this I speak of?

 

Its shoes! Or, well, you could make a good argument that shoes fit the bill.

RAW I love how you explain the smile & angst part, it has to be shoes! My wife would probably hit me if I said that, even though it's true.

Yet some how shoes just doesn't seem right. Or maybe it's a riddle that you can give any answer that "fits" and it's right... *shrug*

You know, I keep coming back to this and I can't come up with a definative answer. I hate riddles I can't solve. It's like trying to figure out what a woman is thinking...It's not important but it drives you crazy anyway.

Well new development.... the answer is 42.

Actually... I think it's w, too... the angst could be the word "worry" which starts with w, and the smile could be "wit" which makes you laugh. *shrug* Just a thought.
