  1. I'm hoping we'll start to see that near the end of this season. As I'm assuming we're going to see some of the Aiel start to come together, and potentially start going over the Dragonwall towards the Stone of Tear en masse...
  2. For sure.. It's just at this point, I feel like we've barely breached the 50-100 range.
  3. Season 3 - Episode 5: Tel’aran’rhiod Director: Marta Cunningham Writers: Ajoke Ibironke Runtime: 1 h 9 min Let's keep DM Tidy, and try to keep all discussions pertaining to S3E5: Tel’aran’rhiod to this topic for the next few weeks. When reading beyond this point, you should expect to encounter Full Spoilers Up to the ending of Episode 5 only, and full book spoilers in this topic.
  4. This. That's been my #1 complaint since probably the battle in Falme. They did some wonderful camera tricks to imply the battle was larger then it was... But they still feel small. Just like Tarwin's Gap in the first Season was awfully small. Even the trailer we got for the battle of two rivers just feels awfully small... And I hope they hire someone from game of thrones or Vikings that really understands battles and their scale when they do some of the later scenes from the books. They might be able to do Dumai's Wells Justice with the Magic, but they won't be able to do it justice with the scale at this rate. I honestly didn't even notice the range of accents too much this episode. I obviously picked up on the large shift between certain generations, but I didn't find it distracting. It just made sense that as you go further back in time, and the people become less tribal and brutal, that their accent and language would change.
  5. Now enters the room Elaida, and several other characters who unknowingly do more to help the Shadow, while neither being Black Ajah or Darkfriend, and actively believing they are doing what is right for the light. While the show's been pretty obvious on the dichotomy between who is good and who is evil, while also humanizing the evil characters... We're going to see Characters who aren't Darkfriends, who aren't sword to the shadow, doing some pretty evil stuff, because they believe they are doing what is right for the light.... And they're often doing it because of meddling from the shadow. So to have a single beacon of light, pull the rug over the shadow like that? Yeah. Verin can totally work... If they play their cards right. The real problem is that the Director/Writers are probably going to get way to heavy handed on their who is BA? sus right now.
  6. 6-8 chapters? Was that really all the chapters devoted to it? 'cause it started in Book 8, and ended in what, book 11? And when dealing with her Kidnapping, we're talking about more than just her POV, we're talking about Perrin's obsession with finding her, his "Decline" into violence as he starts to choose the Axe over the Hammer... And then you have the Berelain shenanigans. But yeah, we don't need 2-3 seasons of all that happening on screen. At most 4 episodes.
  7. I mean, just cutting Faile's kidnapping, or reducing it to 2 episodes removes like 60% of the slog. lol Then when you get to the cleansing, they can do the whole "From everyone's POV" in a single episode, if they even want to... and even then.. That could be done throughout the season depending on how the timeline of that season works out.
  8. This honestly doesn't surprise me. Like, the series was planned as 8 Episodes, and 8 Seasons... But what happens if they are told by Amazon that the 4th or 5th season will be their last?
  9. Just a word of advice. Go back and re-read your post as if you reading it out of context. Sometimes taking that extra step and adding "Ajah" or just changing it to "BA" can go a LONG WAY.
  10. Am I the only one that noticed Moghedien just standing around posing as a serving lady there? Yeah, they're not going to have any issues. Is it a stretch? No. But I'm giving you answers on how it can easily work, given the capabilities they all have. As of this minute, we don't even know what Ter'Angrael's they have, can do. I think you're also stretching how important those guests in that random slum in Tanchico are, and if anyone would really care enough about their disappearance to put out a witch hunt for those guys. Particularly when you're dealing with the Black Ajah, from a variety of Ajahs', who already have an entire freaking network of spies, and contacts in the area... not to mention Gold coin to grease palms.
  11. As I mentioned before. These are Aes Sedai. Aes Sedai can't lie. Anyone that comes knocking, will be given a story about where the people went. Those that question to much will be compusled or disappeared. The "Authorities" aren't going to know anything, because they don't care about the people in the slums. The BA have already buried the hatchet by disposing of every person person in that room. The only people they have to fear, is a literal witch hunt from the masses uprising against them. Which isn't going to happen when anyone that comes up to that building just walks away believing a story about where the people at the wedding ran off to.
  12. Season 3 - Episode 4: The Road to the Spear Director: Thomas Napper Writers: Rafe Judkins Runtime: 1 h 8 min Let's keep DM Tidy, and try to keep all discussions pertaining to S3E4:The Road to the Spear to this topic for the next few weeks. 13. Or... Everyone's taking what she says about "True Death" far too literally. 😉 Oh my gosh... a Dark Friend... lies?
  14. Ah now there's the fun. We know she was shielding Liandrin with the help of the others, and we don't really know what all was going on in that shield. From the video we can clearly see Liandrin trying to force herself to breakthrough that shield. Suian's bumping a lot of energy into that shield to keep her from breaking out. At this point it's just Suian v Liandrin. Compared to S1 - Untrained channeler who 100% burns out. Note the blood? And Nynaeve who only gets crispy fried.
  15. Huh, you know now that you mention it... Why was Liandrin getting all bloody from being Shielded? Could she have been trying to over-channel to break out?
  16. Honestly, I don't think we can guess to much about how they'll appear in the show based on how they're statues look. (They're honestly mostly easter eggs for book readers IMO) But this neither screams masc or fem clothes to me. But it does say "Style". (Designs on the clothes) If we were to go just by the statue... are they implying Asmo is Asian because they used a stereotypical caricature? Or is that some sort of extravagant eye makeup?
  17. I'm not even talking about that aspect. I'm talking about a gender-non-conforming character. Kind of like how Min, who is Female dresses masculine. Is Masc Presenting. Why can't Asmo dress more Feminine like Boy George? Also, who's to say they haven't upgrade the Mask of Mirrors like they've upgraded Compulsion? E.g. allow a guy to walk around in a very female body, using compulsion, to infiltrate the Aiel? Nothing about that has to do with how the show changed the metaphysics, or even the characters "soul". Now, you could get into how from an Optics angle, they have a good character like Min (F dresses M), and a Bad character (M dresses F), might send a bad message, and that's a legitimate argument. But apparently the Colorism argument against the show for 2 seasons has been completely ignored by the writers and directors in season 3, so... yeah.
  18. This is why I'm going with my theory of Asmo'gar. We may get a gender-non-conforming Boy George-esque Asmo, who may very well be using a mask of Mirrors.. Asmo'Gar could have been posing as "Alice" playing some mind games with Eliada, while Rahvin was doing his stuff in Andor. Further keeping some of Aran'gars more lecherous traits... Asmo'gar could be constantly flirting with Rand... which would drive Lanfear absolutely batty. On the other end of this. I could be completely wrong on who Asmo'gar would be flirting with, and it might just be Lan who Asmo'gar is flirting with...
  19. I feel like we read two different books. 😛
  20. I will say that I'm with you on the idea that they're "demystifying" the bad guy in the series, and it's not lost on me that so far they've "removed" the Dark One's presence from the show. I understand the idea that writers/directors wanting to explain the bad things happening onto an explainable entity like the forsaken, when the books were able to do that so effectively via It was the Dark One. I'm really hoping as the series progresses, we get to see the Dark One's corruption on the world take root as Rand's Wound takes root, and that they really tie the Arthurian Mythos of Rand and the Fisher King, where Rand's worsening Health is tied to the Land's health and rotting of the land. That when Rand has a fever, the Land, the Lands boil with Heat. I think That could be a really interesting Dynamic to introduce to the show beyond just the dark one did it.
  21. In Book WoT, a "true death" would just mean you can't be "reborn" until the next age. e.g. what happens to your soul after you get balefired.
  22. If you compare House of Dragons to WoT, (which I've shown above), you can see how modern costs have been vastly inflated compared to a similar product that was put out a decade ago. VHX costs have soared massively, and a huge part of that is because of Supply and Demand. It's just one of a multitude of reasons why Amazon takes 18+ months to put out a new season of a show. Disney, HBO, and all the other Movie Studios have flooded the VHX studios with soo much work they literally cannot keep up. In the case of Disney and a few others, they literally own their own VHX studios allowing them to effectively "cut the line" for their own Movies and TV Shows. This leaves shows like WoT having to compete with all the other shows for a VHX spot, (hence the constantly inflating VHX budget) to get any special effects done, and even though WoT is produced by Sony and Amazon MGM, their producers are more worried about about getting their billion dollar box office films to market over this TV show. So while we can all go "this show has a huge budget!" most of that is spent on VHX, which we knew this show was going to need a heavy VHX budget, and a Heavy Costume Budget... and a heavy set design budget... and the list goes on. So unless they're given the LotR Budget (which would be bloody amazing), I believe they're stretching what they can do, and probably bursting at the seems already... and they'd need an almost unlimited budget in order to do everything justice... if that makes sense? Specially with the cost of VHX today. Also, take into consideration how much Avatar 2 cost, and how long that took to make.
  23. The version in the show (and books) still predates the Seanchan version, which is where, as my above quote "A bracelet. Like the Seanchan sul'dams use to control channelers, but older." Implies. Similar to the books, there's still the plot where Liandrin has a grand scheme to attempt to collar Rand. I also can't remember if Liandrin was going to attempt to give a collared Rand, or the collar itself to the Seanchan when they landed at Falme.. my memories fuzzy on this... but also, their plans obviously got interrupted by the wonder girls.
  24. I went back to that scene to get the exact dialogue, but from what I recalled, it was made clear prior that Liandrin was from Tanchico, and that the Bracelet had a connection to the Seanchan / Sul'Dam. So Elayne was making the Connection that the Seanchan left from Tanchico, and that must be where the matching collar is from, and why Liandrin is in Tanchico. Does this answer the question?
  25. I feel like I have to mention Romeo + Juliet as an adaptation of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0117509/?ref_=ext_shr Then you have Adaptations like this. Which was an Excellent movie. I can't speak about how close it was to the novel, I've heard it was pretty good. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1132620/?ref_=ext_shr But then you get the Hollywoodized shit, where they had to go and make cars explode. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1568346/?ref_=ext_shr
