  1. It's in the last scene of E1. Maybe. Of course, that's assuming (a) that Moggy is correct and (b) that Ishy's oaths are easily broken. After all, the Forsaken are likely tied by far more binding oaths than your average Darkfriend. And -- as the scene also illustrates -- your average Darkfriend doesn't realize this is a loophole that can be exploited. He did say that he is the only Chosen who truly believes in the Dark. But I think he said the Dark One's motivation is to break the Wheel. IIRC, it was Ishy's own interpretation (or motivation) to 'end suffering'. The DO doesn't care about suffering.
  2. To be fair, there hasn't been too much opportunity to do so. I suspect they'll circle back at some point, now that it's been established as a thing. I have to say that the writing has been doing a very good job of not dropping plot threads. Having said that, where is the dagger? That seems important.
  3. Plenty. But why do I need to know this to enjoy the show?
  4. Why on earth do we need to know any of this?
  5. Right. LMFAO. Because none of these shows had poor writing, a single logical inconsistency, or places where you just have to turn your brain off to enjoy the action.
  6. Yes. I think this is definitely a change to Jordan's theology. (Assuming that both Moggy's statement and my interpretation of it are correct.) Though it is still leaning into a "more theological" aspect of the story, in line with what @Agitel was discussing.
  7. It would take an awful lot of heavy exposition to do many of these things and I just don't know that that payoff would be worth it. For example, the actual "battle in the sky". What would that even look like? How would you do it in a way that didn't seem incredibly cheesy? (At least they gave it a nod with the drawing Rand sees.) They are leaning more into the idea that the Dark One is a real entity this season. They've introduced the concept of Nae'blis. Moggy disclosed that the consequence of breaking your Oaths to the Dark is a 'true death', which I take to mean being eradicated from the pattern as opposed to being Reborn during another Turning.
  8. It was in S2. Bain and Chiad basically appeared from nowhere.
  9. You are really overselling what he is doing here. He isn't rewriting decades of memories. He's implanting one very powerful suggestion: Lord Gaebril has been Queen Morgase's consort for a decade. He later layers that suggestion with other ones when he can interact on a more personal level, such as when he implants the suggestion that he and Elayne used to drink together and complain about Morgase. Maybe people wonder about it later. Or maybe it's a trivial enough detail that it never bothers them later. In any event, so long as he keeps strong layers of suggestion on all the people truly close to Morgase, it will never make a difference. Either way, I still don't understand the need to deconstruct it.
  10. It’s really not possible to perfectly calibrate the power levels in a show like this. Sometimes it’s more effective to say that the bad guy is able to do something simply because he’s powerful. He’s able to implant false memories. Why does that need to be picked apart further?
  11. So something entirely subjective? I get that you don’t like the show. But just because you think it’s not an adaptation, doesn’t mean that it isn’t one.
  12. So? Is there some rule that adaptations can’t do these things?
  13. What does this statement by Rafe have to do with whether the TV show is an adaptation or not?
  14. Basically all of them.
  15. “Train wrecks?” Come on, man.
  16. Yes. That was my point.
  17. The healing power creep is the biggest problem for me. It's tricky, but you have to keep the stakes high.
  18. It depends on the story you’re trying to tell.
  19. Poor example. There are statistics and measurable metrics by which soccer players can be rated and compared. No such metrics exist for art.
  20. A few seconds. Which is basically how long they waited in the show.
  21. Really? For me, the idea that a person I’ve known for decades was a secret homicidal devil worshipper would take me a few moments to process.
  22. Exactly. My wife wanted to watch Episode 1 (even though I'd already seen it) and we waited to watch until she got home from work and we ate. Started around 6:30 pacific and ended around 10:30, then went to bed. I still need to watch E2 and E3 again and I have to work.
  23. Hard to draw any conclusions in the first 24 hours. People are still watching. Some still waiting to watch. Some wanting to watch again before dipping in. And many have shifted away to other forms of media over the last 3-4 years.
  24. This doesn't happen here. Sorry, it just doesn't. Nobody gets kicked here for being critical. People are freely permitted to criticize the show provided that criticism is grounded in something more than name calling.
