The book is fiction and the critiques are legit.  It's not personal.  There is some good and some bad.  We have different opinions, that hopefully we can respect.  I like reading people's perspectives that are different than mine.  It would be boring as hell if we all agreed all the time.

There are absolutely legitimate criticisms of the show. I share many of them. And I enjoy a good faith discussion about them. It's why I'm here.

I wonder why some people feel so defensive of negative criticism

It's a certain brand of negative criticism that I find objectionable. This brand tends to spout opinion as fact and attribute political motives and personalize their arguments. And I believe they are rooting for failure.

You think it'll be Ba'alzamon? Hm...

I do think we'll get Blood Snow this next episode and the Dragon Reveal. I guess it makes sense ... Only other person it probably could come from is Tam.

Or Ishy. They may skip the incarnations. But I definitely think we are getting a fully voiced dream sequence. What if they did the prologue NOW and had LTT’s conscience “catch up” with Rand? Via flashback.

    I’m probably not explaining well…

Yes. I am now convinced that Fain IS Liandrin's mystery man & it will be revealed that they're Both DF's in this next episode.

This is a pretty solid theory. One of the little things about this last episode that bothered me was the lack of clarity about who has the dagger.

you typically see this as men is bad, can't do anything right, gets the bumbling idiot slapstick character etc. etc.

You see this all over the place in episode 1.

Where? Where is a man that is bad, bumbling, or slapstick in E1? (or in any of the episodes for that matter?) Just because we've seen some of the women be awesome doesn't mean that the men have been portrayed in the manner you suggest.

Wheel Of Time's Backlash Is A Major Risk To Future Seasons

Amazon's Wheel of Time TV series isn't getting the positive buzz it needs, meaning the future of the fantasy adaptation is sadly in doubt.

The core problem is that the Amazon series is rather different from the books - with these differences angering readers who initially loved Jordan's novels.

Amazon's hope would be that fans of the books would drive a positive buzz for the show to catch the attention of viewers who had never even heard of the fantasy novels. Instead, the opposite is happening: book readers are furious, leaving negative comments and reviews, as they're disappointed that the story they love hasn't been brought faithfully to life. The positive buzz simply isn't there, which threatens to prevent Wheel of Time ever reaching its wider potential audience.

Season 2 may be guaranteed, but the longer future of Amazon's Wheel of Time seems in doubt right now.

One dude’s opinion. Cites no metrics. Can’t take it seriously for those reasons. Also, it’s ScreenRant

But some may be beginning to feel the best thing for WoT and RJ's legacy is to shut it down...?

"some" being the self-appointed gatekeepers and book purists. "some" explicitly not including the author of the last three novels in the series or the editor of all 14 books.

I'm really getting frustrated with people who believe they have more standing to speak to "RJ's legacy" than his wife/editor.

There has been little to any development of his character.

How did his character develop differently in the books? (And remember, we are talking about the time period between Winternight and the Ways). Yes, he had the Tam fever dream and the resulting questions about his parentage. But other than that?

He has been relegated to a nothing character

I don't see that at all. He's been just as forward as the others. He's been the level-headed one. The loyal friend. The peacemaker. He is far from a nothing character.

my missus, who hasnt read the books, doesn't even remember his name when he comes on screen.

That's too bad. The non-book folks I'm watching with know his name. They mostly think he's going to end up as Eggy's warder.

holding all final judgment on the show until episode 8 is done.  I was starting to get excited after episode 4.  5 & 6 were solid 7s for me.  I really want a 9 or a 10 though and am still waiting.  the pace of this show is jerky and inconsistent.  I really hope episode 7 and the lead into the dragon is not too abrupt.  Rand just hasn't gotten much attention so far. I want to feel a plot buildup in each episode, but there hasn't been enough build up.  All the side plots are entertaining but distracting a bit from the overall story.

I really hope episode 7 & 8 take this home.  As a fan I will always watch, and I know future seasons can make improvements.  But I don't want the low 55 metacritic score and user falloff to tank the show.  Hopefully the hype can sustain.  Don't want this to join the graveyard of canceled shows.

    This ^^

If Rafe sticks the landing, this is going to be a fantastic season 1. If he doesn't, it could struggle to gain traction for S2.

    Is that correct?

    Not exactly.

Siuan tells Moiraine to get on her knees to publicly humiliate Moiraine in the Hall.

Later, when they are having private time, Moiraine tells Siuan to get on her knees. On this occasion, it carries a sexual innuendo.

I think people have their feathers in a twist about the latter of these two instances.
