Paaran Disen was relavtively untouched by the war except for 1 attack by Ishammael.  The city didn't fall until after the breaking.

We do see building remnants from the AoL a few times.  Rand an Asmodean theorize that a Building and Water dock resting on a Mountain side could have possibly been Asmodean's birthpalce in FoH .  And there are other examples.  Honestly I just thought it was a cool shot.

The Whitebridge is another example of AoL architecture surviving the breaking.

Re-reading TGH atm so I can say that a Trolloc attack on Fal Dara, including Myrrdrael occurred  while the Amyrlin Seat and a dozen Aes Sedai were there and in the same chapter Padan Fain was broken out of the dungeons.   And as we likely all know both the Horn of Valere and the Shadar Logoth dagger were taken.

Chp 6 Dark Prophecy makes me appreciate even more how well intended the execution of Ep 8 was meant (even if it fell a little flat in a few areas).

Oh and they could have killed both Egwene and Mat but didn't.

I would have liked to have seen Master Luhhan - however the absence of something in the show does not mean it did not occur - it simply was not portrayed.  I suppose we'll know in a few seasons if that character will make an appearance (ie will Perrin return to Two Rivers to become the Lord unwillingly).

He mentions his parents in Ep2 in Shadar Logoth and says to Mat he is convinced they will help Egwenes parents look after Mats sisters.

Just to be clear - I only responded to those 2 points because that was all I feel I could contribute.

I completely respect your perspective on Perrin, even if I do not share it (although I do agree on some points) , and definitely did not feel it was too "long".  Personally I think posts like that are great.  I really enjoy seeing how other people think about characters and what they are looking for in that character and what is missing.

Anyways, basically, as mentioned above, I am happy with Perrin so far, while still quite open to having had more Perrin centric scenes.   One of my favorite sections from EOTW that wont make it in the show is the chase by the ravens just before then enter the stedding.

If I had to make a top 5 of the characters from the books - Perrin would definitely be in that top 5.   He is in my current top 5 of the show.

So far every non-book reader, that I know, that has watched the show enjoys it, and has planned to keep watching it.  I have not had a chance to talk to many about the season finale yet - but it was after the finale that my SO said she wanted to read the EOTW.

One thing that needs to be remembered is that a lot of people simply want to enjoy entertainment,   They simply want to "turn off their brains" and enjoy the show.   They do not need to poke at any potential loose knots or wonder what the long term implications of this choice will be.  As long as the story makes sense and the show entertains, that is what counts.

Basically, as we should already know, they wont be too bothered if the show isnt perfectly faithful to the lore & magic rules, more that what they are seeing on the screen makes coherent sense at the time.

Ex:  Since they saw Nynaeve heal Lan with a neck wound that was about to kill him, most of those types of fans will have little issue with Egwene healing Nynaeve  - because the show has already shown this kind of healing is possible.

So the simplification of some of the lore & rules only makes it more beneficial for that portion of people - much like it did with GOT, LOTR and so forth.

Isn't this the truth.  I am a big fan of the original Cowboy Bebop and I was mildly interesting in watching the live action series.  But it came out at a bad time for me the Christmas season, Just purchased a condo and moving into it, lots of good shows all dropping at once.  But now that I am able to catch up on some shows I find it has already been canceled which certainly dampers my enthusiasm to watch it.  Same thing happened with Jupiters Legacy.

Yeah I know the feeling.   I have a tendency to wait until a show, that I am likely to be strongly invested in, is a couple of seasons old, or has already completed, before I watch it.    It felt like any time a show I was interested in from the get-go ended up like Cowboy Bebop (which I doubt I will watch now that it is only 1 S long).

Wheel of Time is the first show in years I have watched from the start.  And probably the one I am least concerned with it getting axed on short notice - since it seems quite likely that we'll be getting a min of 3-4, if not the intended 8 seasons, baring unforeseen & unpredictable events (like say a new pandemic that is even more deadly).

I wonder if some of the Netflix decisions has to do with conceding some of the fantasy market to Amazon, since the WoT success, and countdown to LOTR, is giving them a strong in.  Obviously they'll still have shows like Stranger Things and The Witcher - just that maybe instead of using those shows to build a large ensemble of fantasy shows to showcase, they'll simply continue to release one here & there while allowing Amazon (and Disney with MCU) to become to go-to place(s) for Fantasy.

I think Perrin, like Lan, is a good example of how subjective opinion differs from person to person.

Personally, while not a fan of "fridging", I think Perrin so far has been portrayed very well and his character arc is slow & subtle (to me), which can be difficult to translate/adapt.   I like that they have already been showing slight hints of the abilities he will benefit from as a Wolfbrother, while maintaining his lack of understanding of all that it entails.

In The Great Hunt we know what happens when Hurin & Rand get separated from the rest of the party, so I am definitely expecting this to be a pivotal moment for Perrin, but we shall WAFO.

Other than wanting more Perrin on screen, which was obviously difficult due to the lack of Perrin centric chapters past Caemlyn/Tar Valon. I do not really have much to quibble about in terms of Perrin or his portrayal.

in the books I really liked the naïve way all the boys had about women...all the boys thought the other boys knew his way around..hahahaha completely gone of course in the shows...and I agree with Sabio, about Perrin's resting face,   please Perrin shut your mouth...

not about show...so not necessary to read:

This is my first post and I have tried reading you all's threads to see what is acceptable and what isn't, IN GENERAL...But with the holidays and me working everyday in December it has been difficult I will keep reading so I can fit in and not be a troll in your world.
