  1. For me there is definitely a slog. Something happens to the narrative, and it is very difficult to put a finger on what it is exactly, as for me at least it isn't any one element.
  2. Eventually. If they aren't all caught up in Mafia. Surely any minute now though.
  3. Oiled
  4. Pretend
  5. I say we man up and show our intent in the most foolhardy and naive manner.
  6. Blade
  7. I vote for one. Do you think screaming "BRING IT ON, MOFO!" while making some sort of crotch-thrusting movement/gesture would qualify?
  8. My daughter as well. My son has always wolfed down huge amounts of food, whatever we having without complaints whereas my daughter doesn't like things cooked, or in sauces, or with dressing, doesn't like fries... So difficult to understand, lol. She does love wraps and noodles though (not together). She must be about to hit puberty though so don't know what changes that will bring.
  9. Rancid
  10. Yeah I don't think it would go with tuna, though to be fair I have never tried it. Interesting point I forgot to mention that Scotland, along with Inca Cola in Peru, are the only countries in the world where Coca Cola is not the highest selling soft drink. #nationalpride, lol
  11. Irn Bru is a bright orange soft drink with more caffeine than Coca Cola. It contains trace amounts of ferric citrate which gives it its colour and its name. It is Scotland's other national drink, in part as many don't realise about the caffeine and are simply addicted to it. It probably tastes most like cream soda, but slightly more fruity and acidic. But mostly just sweet.
  12. I'm not sure if mechanism or hidden chamber is best. I think maybe mechanism?
  13. Apparently in the first drafts there were two other ta'veren from Emond's Field, Dannil and Llewin, iirc, but Jordan was persuaded by the editing team to remove them.
  14. Neither part. Of course there hardly needs to be a divide. Though in other news, Lady Grey is much nicer than Earl Grey. Probably a lot more difficult to get but it is a much lighter tea with a mellow flavour compared to the fairly bitter tea used in Earl Grey. If anyone can get a hold of it, it is highly recommended.
  15. Heresy! Bah, you can never find a pitch fork and torch when you need one in a hurry.
  16. Yeah respect is paramount when dealing with beings that might haunt you for the rest of your natural life.
  17. I just want to know what the one final question is, and are we actually Columbo trying to solve a case.
  18. I think we should talk to the spirits. It's lonely in here, lol. Then activate the mechanism, and go further.
  19. Oh my word, it is from 1990. I think u would have said older... Though thinking about it I only went to secondary school in 1989, so maybe I'm just forgetting when things happened. I suppose that is what you have to expect at this age.
  20. Ooph, oldskool Ithi 🙂 back when the kids were rocking to Gregorian chants.
  21. Meditating is working, I'd say we keep that up. But we could riot, that sounds like fun.
  22. FROGGIES!
  23. I thought Tylin was confusing. Perhaps deliberately so, so each individual reader can take what they want out of it. On one hand you see from Mat's point of view that he doesn't mind the chasing, except it should be him that should be doing the chasing. For that to work, Tylin should only be using the tactics that Mat would have used, which doesn't seem to be the case. On the other, we have a case of dubious consent, where Mat does consent but just wants to assert dominance that slides very much into non-consent while playing it for laughs. Neither of these things seems conducive to seriously exploring the issue. Especially as it seems to rely on "he enjoyed it, it wasn't assault" argument that surrounds any discussion of female on male assault, even when we talking about children. I can only hope Jordan was wanting to hold up a mirror to the gender reversal to see what people saw of themselves in it rather than it being a serious attempt at discussion.
  24. I don't quite see why Demandred as swordsman became such a theme at the end. Demandred was already set up as the tactical genius that it needed Mat's unparalleled ability to defeat. But Mat didn't, Demandred was dead before Mat started any of his questionable maneuvers and three duels in the middle of the battle makes no sense to me. He was also set up as a parallel to Rand in Shara, something that was interesting but hardly explored as it was a bit late by the time it was introduced. I think this is something that was missed. If we knew more about Dark Prophecy, it could have made a lot more sense in the story as the you could see that both sets of Prophecy were pushing everyone to the same conclusion - it doesn't make sense in world that Shadow aligned foretelling, etc., would be wrong and Light aligned right. It would explain some of the more difficult to understand parts where the Shadow did not seem to go for an easy early victory, but were actually trying to set up the same victory conditions that Rand and Co. were. But certainly I was not a big fan of Demandred and his Sharans being both a major game changing plot twist, and actually having no effect on the story.
