  1. Speaking of WS raisings... *grins broadly* I just raised mine to 6! *dances around and smooches 'em all* I'm cleared for one more raise, then I have to be content for a while. *laughs* Have I said that I luv ya'll, yet? *bats her eyelashes*

    Congrats!!!

  2. Yeah I have no problem with anyone joining, no problem at all.  I just thought originally that Arath had someone else teaching another class so it was going to be Kyn and Perivar.  We can easily work the CD stuff in and around everyone.  So go ahead and join in.

  3. So is that Advanced Forms thread Perivar has started open to all of us?  It will be great to have the gang back together again, learning forms under Kynwric.

It is part training, part character development for Perivar so I didn't intend for it to be open as I thought Arath was putting one together for everyone.  That being said I am not against it being open.

I certainly can't speak for Kyn but if he is willing to do a group thing then I can have Perivar arrive early and stay late for the Character Development parts.

  4. He laughed at Mistress Thera then responded "Wait, who had their sword out first?  Granted I reached for mine first yet you had yours in hand before I did.  Since I have never spoken of this to the others let me embarass myself even further."

"I was a 16 year old fool boy then, straight from the Borderlands.  The Tower Guard who sent me to her door filled my head with horrific tales about the Mistress of Trainees.  He went on so long that I thought I was going to meet the Dark One.  So there I stood at her door thinking about Shadowspwan when she comes up from behind me and places her hand on my shoulder scaring me half to death.  Her hand was blocking one of my hilts, since I wore two swords on my back at the time, so I was only able to draw one.  When I turned with sword in my hand I realized it was her.  Then I felt so foolish, I shouldn't have drawn on her yet she scared me half to death.  Regardless of her position she was a lady so it made it even worse.  So I asked her for a penance."

"I deserved it whether she thinks so now or not and my honor required that some punishment be met.  I shouldn't have drawn on her like that, it is the simple truth.  It matters not that she could have beaten me like a child.  In Arafel duels have been fought over less.  So the punishment she gave me was to clean the stalls in the stable and then I had to clean the privies.  Cleaning the stalls was not so bad but the privies were another matter.  When I was done I remember wishing that she had beaten me from here to the Aryth Ocean instead."

"Anyway I washed myself and changed my clothes before reporting back to her office yet I still smelled pretty bad. She caught one whiff of me threw me out of her office so fast you would have thought I was the dark one."  He laughed out loud as he remembered her throwing him out of her office.   "Well while I may be able to draw my blade much quicker now I certainly make sure that I know why I am drawing it before I do so."

It all seemed so funny now, light that had been over two years ago and it felt like yesterday.  He nearly jumped when Kabria's hand touched his knee.  To have her touch him after so long sent a tingle through his body.  They had so much catching up to do yet the opportunity had not presented itself yet.  He still had to talk to her about the note.  He reached down and placed his hand on hers.  Her skin was like silk under his touch.  His mind raced like a galloping horse.

Perivar arrived at the training ground before a hint of light illuminated the horizon.  This was the price they paid for the free day he had been given yesterday.  Mistress Thera gave them their final gift, pushing the training back one day so they could have a good time at the party.  So much had occurred over the past two days that he would have been in no shape or frame of mind to train the day after their ceremony.  Actually had it been yesterday he would have missed it altogether.  He was exhausted, he had hardly slept and had to ride like mad to be back in time to see Kabria safe in the Tower then head off to the yards for the training.

He knew Master Kynwric would not tolerate him being late by a second so he was bright and early.  Today he would begin learning the advanced forms that would one day make him worthy of being called a Warder.

Kabria, no Kabria Sedai, the ring of it made him want to giggle. She had suddenly reappeared in his life.  Ooh she was always there in his mind though now she was physically there.  He did not want to think on the unhappy reunion, all was well now.

The whole idea of him being a Tower Guard had not fully sunk in yet.  How long would it take before he thought of himself as Guardsman and not a Trainee.  The time since the ceremony seemed like a blur.

There was another matter as well.  A matter between him and Master Kynwric that still needed to be resolved.  The matter of his actions on that night in Caemlyn at the Badger and Lioness.  They had spoken briefly but Perivar knew there would be more discussions to come.  Mistress Thera had not been there, Master Kynwric had bee so it was him who would set Perivar straight.  He knew the man that he respected and admired would not go easy on him, for the good of the Tower he could not.  It had not been a strong enough offense to keep him from being raised but it was one that came with a penalty.

Perivar had been a fool, he could have put his friends in danger by that fool stunt.  If he didn't realize it then Master Kynwric made sure he was aware of it before they had resumed their mission.  It had been so obvious to Master Kynwric that Perivar had not used the Ko'di that night.  Perivar was lucky that he did not drub him from Caemlyn to the ends of the known world.  Since he had only placed himself in danger the punishment would be something personal, something Perivar wanted more than anything else. His choice of wanting to become a Warder would come with a condition.

That was past for the moment.  There was nothing he could do to change it.  He had to focus on the present.  He would serve the punishment that Master Kynwric gave him and put it in the past.  This was his first step to becoming a Warder.  The first step in proving that he was truly worthy.  It would be Master Kynwric who would determine when that would be, that was the price he would pay.  The man would not allow Perivar to be bound to an Aes Sedai until Perivar proved without a doubt that he was no longer a fool.  Perivar had placed that punishment upon his own shoulders, it was his fault.

The most painful part was that he had to tell Kabria, tell her that he could not be bonded to her until conditions were met.  She had intended to bond him and he had to tell her.  That is what led to that horrific fight.  It was over now though his lack of sleep had him in a foul mood.

  6. He felt something flick his ear.  He looked all around him but could not determine the cause until her words sank in. “I will be able to communicate just fine you big oaf!”  He stared at her, she had used the one power on him.  He had never had the one power used on him before, well just once before but that was just a tingle through his body.  He knew very little about the power but this was not the time to ask.  Perivar listened as Kabria spoke while they walked back to the training grounds.  He noticed that the apple he had given her did not last long.

When Kabria gave him the little book he had tried to refuse but she would not listen.  He tried to tell her he could not take her precious book yet she overruled his protests.

"Think of me when you read from it and when you miss me."  "In that case then I will never be able to put it away for I think of you all the time and I miss you the moment we are apart."  As if it were the most fragile thing, he carefully placed it in his belt pouch.

As they reached the beaten area of the training grounds he picked up two buckets that he had prepared for her.  The wooden buckets with rope handles were filled with sand.  There were two sets though he gave her the smaller pair, the larger ones were for him.  "Since you are so eager then take these.  We will talk as we train.  Pick them up and let them hang at your side."   Perivar picked up the larger buckets then did the same.  "Now with your arms extended, lift the buckets forward until your arm and body form a right angle."  Perivar demonstrated it for her.

"Do this ten times, on the tenth one hold the bucket straight out in front of you for a count of ten. Begin!"  Perivar watched as she did the exercise in time with him.  It was good to show the person you were training that you could do what you were asking them to do.  "Good let them hang at your side but don't put them down.  We have four more sets to do."  Ooh light by the look she gave him she was definately going to hate him when they finished.

"Begin!" He watched to make sure she was doing it right. "So you want to dance?  Of course it isn't silly.  Perhaps there will be an opportunity to do so.  Perhaps you do not realize it yet though you already glide my love.  Every step you take, perfect Aes Sedai serenity."  He beamed a smile at her that he was not sure if she appreciated while she was lifting buckets of sand.  "I do not profess to be a polished gentleman though it was one of the things that I was required to learn as a child.  Even in the borderlands their are balls or events where there is dancing."

"Good, rest!"  "I am glad you like books for I despise them.  Ooh I know they contain valuable information though as a child I received many beatings because I was not paying attention during my studies.  I wanted to learn swordsmanship not letters or reading.  Maybe I will take an interest in books now since there is much that I would like to learn.  Perhaps one day I will buy that book store for you.  You can recite the stories and I will listen to your magical voice."  He smiled at her, a loving smile that said he would give her the world if it would make her happy.

"Begin!"  "Well then I will tell you what I know so you can tell something that I do not.  I do not know much outside of the Borderlands with the exception of commonly known facts.  For instance I know about Daes Dae'mar, that ridiculous game that the Cairhienen are so fond of.  That is the name for it isn't it?  I have also heard it called the game of houses.  I don't understand why people would be interested in such a game, reading deeply into the slightest move made by those around you.  What a waste of time.  I mean who has time for such games, certainly no one in the Borderlands."  "Good, rest!"

"Have you ever visited one of the islands of the Sea Folk?  Perhaps you could tell me of your travels?  Places you have gone, sights that you have seen."  He listened as she spoke.  "Keep talking my love" "Begin!"  As she spoke they finished the final sets.  Her arms began to fall short of the ten count.  "Keep them up, all the way up!  You can do it!"  She struggled to bring her arm up but she did it.  At the count of ten she let the buckets hang at her side.

"Go ahead and drop them, now take this." He picked up a metal practice sword that matched the one she had chosen from the armory earlier on in her training.  It was identical to the real sword except this one had blunt edges so it could be used for sparring and getting used to the weight and feel of a real weapon.  He handed her the sword.  Drawing his he continued.  "Now hold it like this"  He showed her the guard position Lion on the Hill  "This is a basic guard position called Lion on the Hill.  Hold this position for as long as you can."  He didn't expect it to be long, her muscles would be exhausted by now.

"Don't let it drop keep your guard!"  Light she was going to hate him though if she kept putting the same effort into her training as she had been then she would be well prepared when the time came that she needed it.  Hopefully that time would never come if he had anything to say about it though that was a fantasy.  The reality was that she would definately need it one day.

  7. He let it rest, he would never win a battle of words with her.  Well he almost let it rest. "They don't die that easily Kabria Sedai, even a Tower Guard knows that!"  He emphasized the title she had given him.

Before she could respond Perivar followed Master Kynwric, Nightdancer rose to the occasion matching speeds with Master Kynwric's mount.  Kabria's Blade was up to the challenge as well.    Perivar had kept his eye on her as they left Tar Valon.  He had never asked her about her ability to ride though he soon found out that she was competent.  On the way here she told him how Jasine had taught her.  If Jasine had not been such a good friend and had such a kind heart Perivar would have been jealous.

The pace Master Kynwric kept was exhausting on the horses though they could not spare any time.  As they neared the town the column of smoke had grown into several columns.  Nightdancer showed no signs of slowing though a lather had formed on his body.  He silently prayed to the creator that his young warhorse would keep the pace.  As they came closer Perivar unhooked his shield from its resting point and slid his left arm through the straps.

Master Kynwric kept the ground eating pace not slowing as the approached the town.  Perivar followed his lead drawing his sword and charged after him.  They were too late.  The fortress walls had been breached and the town was half burned.  The carnage and destruction from the battle was strewn about as if a tornado had struck the town.  Mangled bodies littered the ground which struck him as odd.  Usually Trollocs would have carried the bodies away to eat.

Perivar slid off of Nightdancer letting the reins fall.  Nightdancer would remain as he was until Perivar returned.  The warhorse was panting from the effort though now was not the time to care for him.  With his sword in his right hand, Perivar hung his singuata from a special leather sheath that hung from his saddle's pommel.

Perivar stood beside Master Kynwric staring at the body of a child.  The sight sickened him as it always did though he was numb to it.  This was life in the Borderlands.  "Too late....say a prayer and move on" he whispered softly as he sheathed his sword.

He glanced over his shoulder at Kabria and shook his head.  Hopefully she would take it for what it was and not approach.  No need for her to see this.  "That is odd"  He said to Master Kynwric.  "Trollocs do not usually leave the dead like this.  This poor child is half chewed up.  Certainly they could have carried the child away unless they left in a hurry.  Perhaps they saw our dust trail and misjudged our numbers or perhaps they caught sight of them."  Perivar motioned with his head in the direction of the Aes Sedai "Though how could they have known, they couldn't have been close enough to see their faces, we would have seen them leave."

Perivar heard their softer footsteps approaching and glanced over his shoulder.  Master Kynwric knew much sooner of course as he had the benefit of the bond.  Perivar stood next to Master Kynwric, their bodies shielding the Aes Sedai from the grizzly sight.  He was about to speak though the arching of Kabria's eyebrow held his tongue challenging him to say it if he dared.  She was tough as nails and would take take offense at him telling her not to look.  She was right, she had to grow accustomed to it, there was no other way.

Reluctantly Perivar stepped aside so that she could see the child's twisted and half-gnawed upon corpse.  He took her hand in his giving it a squeeze to let her know he was there.

  8. Perivar had the note tucked away along with the envelope from Loraine Sedai.  She had asked them not to open it until they were in their rooms then offered them kind words on their accomplishments.  She had been such a huge part of their training that he hoped it did not end there.

Perivar laughed along with the others then listened as Jasine told the story of the mushrooms "Me too" he shouted jokingly glaring at Arath "Just the sight of them makes me want to sick up.  Yes Master Kynwric they were the blue-stalked ones.  You would have thought we would have figured out why Mistress Thera had discarded the ones in her dish."   He smiled at Mistress Thera  "I was so hungry that I just figured she didn't like the taste.  I never want to see another mushroom for as long as I live."

Perivar occasionally glanced at Kabria, she seemed to be enjoying herself.  He hoped that she did not regret coming.  There was so much to say, so much to talk about but it would have to wait.

  9. Perivar took Arath's cue and decided to tell one of his stories.  "I remember when Master Jesse did our fitness training, it was Jasine, Visar and I.  Master Jesse took us down by the water for balance training.  He made us jump in the water and had us try to climb on top of barrels and then stand for a count of ten.  I'm not much of a swimmer and trying to pull myself onto the barrel was harder than I could've imagined.  Well it was funny because it was my first class with Visar.  He tried to get Jasine and I to jump with him on the count of three but when he reached three he was the only one to jump in the water.  The water was cold and he came up out of the water spitting it out trying to catch his breath.  He frowned at us for not joining him but we just smiled and jumped in ourselves."

"By the end of the day Jasine was dancing on the barrel as if he was a circus performer."   He went on in a silly voice joking with Jasine  "Master Jesse look at me. Do you want me to do a hand stand or dance a jig.  Standing there with a smile from ear to ear."   Perivar smiled at Jasine then laughed out loud as he recalled the rest of the story.

"I was so mad at him.  He was so happy with himself, smiling like a kid who just stole a pie and there I was freezing in the water.  I had barely been able to get on the barrel let alone stand and I thought that I would never thaw out.  Then Visar finally stood, as he went to talk though he lost his balance.  He fell and smacked his head on the barrel so Master Jesse had to jump in to rescue him.  Jasine and I tried to get to him but we were too slow, probably because we were frozen to the bone.  Luckily he wasn't hurt bad."

"Well it took forever for me to get up on that barrel and even longer before I could stand on it.  I am not exactly built for such things."   He laughed again then took another pull from his mug.  He glanced at Kabria hoping that she was having a good time.  He felt awkward though he hoped it was apparent on his face.

  10. Perivar had gone back to the barracks after the ceremony.  He was no longer a trainee, a thought that seemed odd.  As much as he had waited for this moment to arrive it still felt wierd to him that he was now a Tower Guard.  He had fond memories of his time in the yards.  Lately he had not been good company though he planned to make it up.  He put the dagger on his belt and secured his sword to his back before leaving for the inn.

The inn was not far from the gate thankfully.  When he entered the room he saw Mistress Thera fussing with a floral arrangement.  She came over to great him handing him a mug of ale while wrapping him up in a hug.  He offered her the proper courtesies and words of thanks.  The words barely left his mouth when the others came pouring in.  Next thing he knew he was being whisked away by Mistress Thera to help her greet the newcomers.

Once that was finished they sat at a table with their mugs as they began to recall their days as trainees.  It still seemed odd that over two years had passed.  He was in the middle of laughing heartily when he saw the door to the common room open.  He was not expecting any new arrivals so he looked away joining back in the conversation.

This was the second time today that he was shocked to hear her voice. “ Good evening all”  When his eye caught sight of her standing there in a dark green dress his spirits lifted immediately as his eyes drank her in.  “ Congratulations again you four”...“I have presents for you all.”  She said handing them all gifts.

Perivar rose quickly to greet her thanking her for the gift.  Even in the unadorned dress she was stunning.  He fought the urge to wrap her up in his arms and kiss her 'til the sun came up.  It had been so long since he had seen her or felt her touch, it felt like an eternity.  He wasn't sure exactly what to do, he was apprehensive to do anything other than greet her as a Tower Guard to an Aes Sedai.  He bowed respectfully to her before saying "Good evening Kabria Sedai"  Light that was the first time he had called her that, it had a nice ring to it.  He was about to say more though his words were cut short as she hailed a serving girl asking for mug of ale.  He stood there in a daze as she was introduced to those whom she didn't know.  Perhaps she didn't want him to say more, he was so lost completely unsure what to do.  She was an Aes Sedai now.  Perhaps their relationship could not be public.

Perivar held the chair for her while she sat.  He stood there turning the gift over in his hands not sure waht else to do.  “Well open them already, they are meant to be used to stared at” She said to all of them as he realized they were doing the same.  He opened the gift, a pair of Gauntlets and engraved on them was a rose, the symbol for her family.  Tucked in with the Gauntlet was a note.  He read it then looked at her with an eyebrow raised as he tucked the note away.  "Thank you, it is very kind of you."  He would have to wait until they were private before he could speak to her about the note.  Perivar pulled up another chair and sat next to her though keeping a respectful distance.

  11. Heh, should be fun:

Mia - "So, what are you going to do now, as full Tower Guards?"

Melenis - "I want my weapon." *hugs weapon*

Perivar - "Guys, i'm going to get myself Bonded now."

Jasine - "Thera, marry me!" *kneels*

    ;D

    :D  ;D  :D  ;D

  12. Hey Q, would Perivar recognize Selene?  Does she look anything like Jasine, I know Jase spoke of her in training but I am not sure if we would recognize her?  Just wanted your thoughts on that.

As I posted in the thread I was just waiting for Melenis to have her conversation with the girls and leave before I pop in with Perivar.  It would seem strange if it was like a trainee reunion in the stables.

Sorry, I was told I wasn't allowed to play with Novices some time ago... ;)

Yes now that we know Kyn's true age it would be inappropriate for him to play with Novice, Accepted however may be borderline.

  13. Perivar made his way to the stables.  He tried to fill every waking moment with some activity to keep his thoughts from knawing him apart.  He had adjusted to the monotony of guard duty but found it offered him too much time for idle thought.  Something he did not need.  To combat that he spent much of his time in the void so that his thoughts and emotions seemed distant.  He used it so much that it was commonplace to him.  It was not a good habit to form though it got him through the days.

Things had been much different since his return.  He thought Kabria being raised would ease matters but it ended up having the opposite effect.  For some reason which he was not privy to she was being kept from him.  Well not exactly from him but he felt that way.  Apparently new Aes Sedai had much to learn or were not allowed to roam as freely as he would have thought.  Kabria assured him that all was well yet she would not discuss the matter further with him.  The only time that he saw her was during her weapons training though those days were few and far between.  It was a miracle that he had been assigned to instruct.  Their meetings were bittersweet.  Constantly fighting the urge to hold her and kiss.  Each moment with her was worth the agonizing days apart though he wished there were more days together than apart.

Perivar entered the stables, clouds of dust danced where the sunlight shown through the barn doors.  Perivar stopped rolling the silver marks through his fingers which he had to hand for the stableboys.  He did a double take as he saw two novices wielding pitchforks where the boys should have been.  They both wore aprons over their white dresses though there was no mistaking what they were.

Perivar saw Melenis taking her ease leaning against one of the supports.  With a shake of his head his belled braids jingled as he said out loud "What have we here?  Are they your charges for the day?"  The question was for Melenis though both the novices turned to look at them as if they had not noticed their arrival until he spoke.  Perivar laughed out loud at their looks.  He stood 6' tall and built like a blacksmith, brown eyes with dark brown hair neatly done in twin braids with silver bells at the tips named him an Arafellin.  Melenis leaned with the deadly grace of someone who had been training in the yards for over two years.  He was not sure which one of them was the cause of the stares.

"We do not bite girls!"  He said loudly  "I am Perivar Tarigan and this is my friend Melenis Stormgate.  I came to get NightDancer.  He is the glossy black stallion, the warhorse in the fifth stall on the right."

  14. Alright so who is assigning us to the different squads?  Perivar will likely be bonded soon though it would still be nice to know where he is/was assigned.  It might come in handy in the event that his Aes Sedai is busy in the Tower where he has some free time to play with others.
