The Malazan Empire Faces a Chilling Threat in the Icy Land of Assail

In this thrilling sequel to Ian C. Esslemont's Blood and Bone, the mercenary company known as the Crimson Guard ventures into the treacherous land of Assail. With the melting of ancient ice, the once impenetrable region is finally revealing its long-held secrets, luring countless adventurers and fortune-seekers with tales of gold and untold riches.

Amidst this chaos, the Crimson Guard seeks answers to mysteries that even Shimmer, their second-in-command, questions the wisdom of pursuing. Joining them are an uneasy alliance of Malazan treasure hunters, Letherii soldiers, and Fisher kel Tath, a bard accompanied by a mysterious Tiste Andii with no memory of his past but wielding immense power.

As they navigate the hostile coasts, frozen wastelands, and strange, terrifying creatures of Assail, whispers abound of the mighty Whiteblade—a former Malazan champion bearing a god-slaying sword. Meanwhile, Silverfox, the newly reborn Summoner of the undead T'lan Imass army, guards the southern shore, ready to face both allies and enemies to prevent the resurgence of an ancient, devastating crusade.

Assail illuminates mysteries that span the vast Malazan empire, offering a tantalizing glimpse into the epic history that shaped it. The final chapter in the epic tale of the Malazan Empire, this gritty and complex military fantasy is sure to captivate fans of the series.
