Gauntlet: Spear the Lie! Your practice went very well for most of you, those of you who participated at least. Let's hope the practice paid off, for now its time to once again Dance the Spears......and this time, Immunity is on the line!!! Aiel Warriors charge into battle, with spears in hand, ready to take on all adversaries. Aiel claim that courage is not charging into battle without fear but rather charging into battle despite of fear. Often, an Aiel Warrior must make split second decisions, and timing is everything. They must seek out the biggest threat and smite it before it smites them. "Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the S…

You want to know why? I'm guessing the answer to that question is no. But sorry Bandies, it was rhetorical. I love Mariah because she's been one of my favorite artists since I was still in school. Way way back back back back in the day. I loved Hero, Dreamlover, and even before that Vision of Love. The woman's been making hits since forever. But that's not the reason I so love her right now. I love her because she's never let me down. I've loved many different artists over the year. Kurupt, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Nickleback, Rascal Flats, they've all at some point dissapointed me. Either with horrible albums (snoop, nickleback, rascal flats) or just not …

Ok, this is the first of our two silly games for these boards! Below I will explain to the best of my abilities how it is played! If any questions arise from my explanation, just PM me and I will look into it! Also, please remember this game is open to all here at DM!!!!! I would like to thank North Star and Sheliara for suggesting this game! Instructions This game works by someone posting three words, and the next person makes a sentence out of the three words posted. Once the person has posted their sentence, at the end they post three more words. There are specific requirements for the three words chosen, and the three words need to be: 1. A ver…

As we seem to have a few Metal heads in the Band, I'm picking a metal group for this week's "Tune or No Tune". All you need to do is decide if it is a TUNE (i.e. you love it) or NO TUNE (i.e. you hate it). I have to blame an old Bander for getting me into Blind Guardian - Faile1987. And I'm so glad she did! I've been a big fan since that day about 2 years ago. They have been classified under Speed Metal and Power Metal, and they also like to go for that epic feel. And they reached their height of epicness on the album, Nightfall in Middle Earth, which is based on J. R. R. Tolkien's The Silmarillion. And yes, Lord of the Rings is a massive influence on Blind Guardian…

I'm shocked and appalled that no one has welcomed you to the Band! But you are incredibly lucky as it is the Marshal-General himself who is doing it! I'll give you a bit of time to recover from the shock of being greeted by the M-G and let the other raggamuffins help you on the way before the Official Spiel comes out! Welcome to the Band of the Red Hand ORG!

A spotfine that is currently being done by one of our longstanding members got me thinking that it might be fun to reflect on some memories we all have from our time in the Band so far. I also thought that some of our newer members (and maybe even non-Banders) might find it fun to read up on some annecdotes, experiences, memories that have made their way into the Band and the Banders' minds. So step right up, dig into your Band history and share with us some of your most treasured, fond, funny, embarrassing, weird, rare, mysterious, etc memories of your time in the Band of the Red Hand.

Ok here go folks an new game. The rules are simple: I'll start it off by posting the name of a song. The next person to post guesses the artist and then names another song to be guessed at. In the case of remakes of a song please state whether or not you want the original artist. So let's kick it off! "Never Too Late"

Week 2: Dancing with Spears {Note: Anyone who is not participating in Survivor: Rhuidean, please refrain from posting here. Thanks - The Producers} Welcome Shaido, Goshein, and Taardad clan members! I hope you all had a safe journey from your camps here to the training slopes, and as usual, the first clan to have a member arrive gets a early advantage. As many of you have read on the Bander's board, this week's theme is about Spear Combat and the term Dancing with the Spear. We are all standing, of course, in a dueling arena very similar to that in which the Aiel train with their spears, much like our own Infants train with their blades or the Calva…

Now, judging by the Battle of the Bands results, there are a few Metallica fans here. There were also a few that brought up their fight with Napster, so when I found this article I thought I'd share it. There is a bit of ill-feeling and a few swearword here so be warned. Linky Discuss! ;D

Created in 1985 under the name "Majesty", Dream Theater was originally created by three men in Boston at the Berklee College of Music. John Myung, John Petrucci, and Mike Portney began the band as students and then eventually dropped out of school and pursued their music career. Since then there have been some member changes, but the original founders of the group are still there. Aside from the original members, the current group has James LeBrie and Jordan Rudess. Dream Theater is one of the most successful progressive metal bands since the height of metal in the 1970's. Their best efforts in the U.S. have been Images and Words(1992) which reached #61 on the Billbo…

Now, with just under 10 minutes to go until we head back of to Belgrade for the 53rd installment of the European Song Contest, I hope everybody is getting cosy in front of the TV (or laptop like me once I've installed something). After the panic on Tuesday when I realised I might not have been able to watch the final online (blame broken laptops), the problem has been fixed. Tuesday and Thursday produced some shockers (thankfully Europe stuffed Ireland's turkey, Dustin), a few shocks (Switzerland and Malta not getting through), a few debuts at Eurovision (San Marino and success for Azerbaijan) and the expected (Sweden, Russia, Greece) all qualifying. Now attenti…

For those of us in Europe, we have a week of musical fun and comedy ahead of us. It is called: The Eurovision Song Contest Now into its 53rd year, Eurovision is bigger, better (this is debatable), and more contraversal than ever. But it somehow manages to gel Europe for a couple of hours during a week through music. The voting is always dodgy, the songs can be awful, there is the legacy of scoring a "nul point", but the competition still manages to survive. And this year, a record breaking 43 countries are taking part, with tiny San Marino taking part for the first time ever. To sum Eurovision up, each country puts forth a song that they believe will…

Feel free to chat about previous competitions, previous winners, views for the forthcoming competition this year, why you love or hate the ESC - basically anything and everything about the contest. If you know nothing about the Eurovision Song Contest, don't hesitate to ask, and we Europeans will be more than happy to help out. So feel free to start discussing Eurovision!

Well, once the first semi-final is over, I will be releasing my top 10 flops of Eurovision. The only qualifying criteria is to have scored a famous "nul point". A lot depends on Dustin the Turkey, and that is why I am holding my list back for now. So, until about 10pm (GMT), you're just gonna have to wait for Corki's Top 10 Eurovision flops! I'm sure you can't wait!

And it is less than 15 minutes until the big start - Eurovision 2008 will be underway. And I will be your host for this evening's entertainment, passing my glorious comments on tonight's proceedings. Of course, we have the much anticipated Dustin the Turkey, representing Ireland, up tonight as he aims to book a place in Saturday's final. And just a quick rundown on how tonight is to work. 5 countries (Serbia, UK, France, Germany and Spain) are all guarenteed a place in the final. However, the remaining 38 countries have to battle it out for the remaining 20 places. So tonight is the first of the semi-finals. 19 countries are competing, aiming to get one of those 10 …
