HI! I guess the title has spiked your interest. Good. Now that you are here, let me ask you something. Actually, 2 things: 1) How was 2015? 2) What will 2016 be like?

December is always the month when I start really cramming to listen to everything I've missed before the new year rolls around, and it's the month when everyone drops their choices for best album of the year. Let's hear yours! If enough people participate (but it will take quite a few of you), I'll tally the totals and announce the BotRH's collective top ten favorite albums on January 1st. I've posted some sort of year-end top albums list since 2002. Looking back, some years my choices have been embarrassingly bad, others I still largely agree with. A few years back I decided to limit my own list strictly to metal albums, because I don't feel informed enough in oth…

So you know how in all groups you have those who are just ... different? Who don't quite feel at home in a certain environment? Decided they don't a damn want to Bond anyone? I thought this lot might bit in a bit better here by you guys:

I registered my last.fm account on May 16th, 2003. 12 and a half years later, I am about to scrobble my 200,000th track. It will be the same track I made a point to listen to at 100,000. Who can guess what it will be? I'll tell you if you get the band right.

CUE THE MUSIC! WHAT'S UP, PEOPLE????? I cannot express the longing I have felt to return. So much has happened since I last hijacked these threads, too much to fully explain, but I will name a few of the biggest ones. First of all, my family relocated. That's right! This last summer, my family left Seattle, Washington, where we have lived for the past twelve years and are now living in freaking Ohio! I still can't believe that. It has been a real adjustment, and one that is not without its hardships, but there's been good things about it as well. I've made a lot of new friends and have been given a bunch of new opportunities. It's crazy, some …

Members of The Band, please stand at attention! WillDog has just joined The Band of the Red Hand and, as our newest recruit, deserves our typical Band welcome. ** Turns to the recruit then hands him a pint glass filled with his signature, XO's Dragons Breath Brew ** Better finish that quickly, I'm sure each of our members will have much more for you do try I'm The Band's Executive Officer (XO) and second in command of this fine group of people. As I said in the signup thread, your request for access to our private boards has been submitted but sometimes takes the site admins a couple of days to get straightened out so, until you can see the campfires and our ot…

As I sit here on my phone I think of the Way Back When. As I think back it was around 2005 when I joined and the Band was about a year old. Back when you tube had just started, cell phones could make phone calls and MAYBE take pictures. Back when you did a Google search for Band of the Red Hand, this was number 1: http://botrh.proboards.com/ So I ask, what do you remember about 2005?

Magic Eye It's a specific trick that you have to do with your eyes to be able to see a 3D picture within. Can you see it? These images are called Magic Eye images. Here's a how to if you are having some trouble. In this image, there is a 3D planet (like Jupiter): The planet that you should see looks like this: In this image, the 3D is of a shark: And in this image, some of the dots/smarties just pop out: Your challenge is to tell me what you see in this image! I'll put on more images in time, and also give you the answer.

Background So Zander is overall known as the Jak o' the Shadows (JotS) - spammer. To those of you who didn't know... Zander is the JotS - spammer. This caused the Band to instate the Zander rule - so there's a limit to how many points you can get per month for JotS verses. After some trivial attempts by other band members to stop him *cough cough* Zander finally posted again. In my opinion, his verses were over the top and overconfident. I would not stand for this... and the battle started. From Zander: Yes, we decided to have a fun challenge with JotS, Kinda like a rap battle. ZANDER WAS 100% CERTAIN HE COULD NEVER BE BEATEN!!!! (Apparently,) I…

Well, in my opinion at least. I've always felt a special connection between this time of year and the folk and metal music that I enjoy most. For the past five years or so I've taken the opportunity to run a music series on my friend's entertainment blog throughout the month, ranging anywhere from in-depth editorials to a simple "song of the day" sequence. I didn't plan out anything fancy this year. I'm just going for a daily song approach and posting whatever happens to strike me in the moment with very little in the way of commentary. I'm not going to repeat anything I made a single-track post about in previous years, so unfortunately a lot of the songs that mean t…

Still too early to discuss much, but anyone else love the music in the trailer? Fitting that the Force Theme is the prominent sound track for the Force Awakens trailer. Sounds like Williams did a great job, as usual, of applying a well-known theme to a new setting.

...and I've finished my last assignment for the semester, so I am alive again! And ready to cause some mischief. Are you ready guys? Are you ready? *steals the cav's buckets of horse manure, and starts catapulting them indiscriminately towards the Archer and Cav campsites* Infants, to arms! Poo fight!

Hello everyone! It's been... I don't know how long it's been. Long enough that I almost forgot what the Latrines smell like after the Cavalry mess them up. I've certainly been busy these last few years, anyone up to filling me in on the myriad adventures of the Band in my absence? Who's new, who's old, and all that jazz? Finally got around to buying the rest of the books to fill out my WoT collection, and so I'm going for my first re-read of the series, since I first read it three years ago, and loving as much as I did the first time, if not more. How many times have you lot slogged through the whole series?

  17. Who lives there? Anyone live anywhere near or trainable to New York? Or have any amazing travel tips or locations or things I should definitely do/not do in that sort of area? I'm so excited; it's for a music workshoppy thing, but I'll probably be heading over for a good few weeks-no way am I going to America for the first time and not sticking around for a bit. Only downside is that I'll have my cello, which'll severely limit my travel capabilities-as few planes as humanly possible, otherwise I would be flying all over the country to meet everyone-and it's the middle of winter so it's gonna be fricking freezing, but I really don't care. XD I maaaay be on the west coast f…

BRID!!!! You may have stepped down, but that means you first had to step up! You have done so many amazing things for the Band, kept it afloat during times of darkness, helped it flourish during better times. Without you, we would not have won the 2014 Most Improved Social Group Empy Award, much less even lasted without closing at least a couple of our Regiments. You're work in the Band was a huge factor in any success we have enjoyed. Last year, you received our highest award, the Marshal-General's Cross of Distinction. Now, in honor of your tenure as our Under Commander, I want you to become the first member of the Band to ever receive our highest award more tha…

  21. As Lady Bridmorgan has officially stepped down from the role of Under Commander, the Senior Staff conducted a review of our current leadership structure. At the time of this review, it has been decided that going forward, the rank of Under Commander will be eliminated, and the roles and responsibilities previously associated with it will be redistributed between the remaining two Senior Staff positions. At a Social Group level, this organizational change will have relatively little impact. The only change we foresee being noticeable at the member level will be that, beginning in 2016, Regimental Competitions will be ran once a quarter rather than every other month. A…

  29. I took a bit of an extended LOA the past 3 weeks, and I am so happy it is over! As a result of my LOA, I can now officially say I am done with grad school (graduated in April but had 5 credits to wrap up, but got waaaaay behind because of our newborn), having rushed to complete it before moving from Oregon to Utah. We got to Utah at the start of this week but had wiring issues, so no internet right away. Now, I can breathe a sigh of relief because the heavy moving is DONE, and grad school is DONE. For the first time in my marriage, I am no longer a full-time student and can actually devote time to my family that in the past had to go to my textbooks. And in the meant…
