  1. For this next edition of Original vs. Cover, we'll be doing something a bit unusual compared to the past... the original is from a soundtrack, and the cover is a remix from the same soundtrack. In The Hobbit, the dwarf cast sing a song penned by Tolkien himself (although edited substantially for the movie). https://youtu.be/v65ffiQvo6A In the end credits, the song took a much different approach: https://youtu.be/oDL6HNjZvxk Which one do you prefer? Put your answer in bold below!

Or the Scottish one either for that matter. (Stop groaning Bridkins, I can hear you from here. Your abhorrence of MP is shameful...shameful I say!) So, as you may be aware, I've been (mostly) absent from the Band for several years. In my (brief) forays back amongst the boards, I've only really had a chance to meet/greet/speak with a few people who've arrived in the interim (mostly Infants as you'd expect). Time to remedy that and harass a few well known faces at the same time. Purely for fun and entertainment purposes. Think of this as a friendly (sort of) getting to know you session. I'll answer them later. Take a seat. Any seat. *indicates all the small wooden…

Does anyone else play any instruments here? Have any recordings you'd like to share? I used to frequent a gaming forum that had tons of musicians, and we had a lot of song writing competitions and the like. I miss that! Where are my Dragonmount bards at? After a few years with no means to record, I finally got a camera last month, and I've been so tied up caring for the baby that I never actually got a moment to mess around with it. Well, I actually managed to land an hour of free time tonight, so I gave it a go. The quality is terrible (I'll hopefully have a decent microphone and some daylight to work with next time) and it was like 90 degrees in my room becaus…

  4. It feels a bit odd, writing a welcome thread for someone who was a DM member 8 years ago already, but... there's a first for everything, right? Welcome, to the Band of the Red Hand Ofcourse, the first thing to do, is to make you feel at home... so... Have a drink grab a bite to eat sit back oops... i meant this one Now that you're here, tell me your choice of music, and we can get this party started I saw you're like a metalhead, so i think you'll have a few people in here that will totally agree with anything you might want to hear

  13. * Nikon was in the middle of his patrol rounds when he noticed a new face entering the Band's campgrounds. After introducing himself to the recruit he led Shad_ to meet the rest of the band. * Hello and welcome to The Band! I'm the XO of the band and am in charge of making sure new recruits, like yourself, receive the proper training before joining one of our fine regiments. Speaking of the regiments, we just passed the entrance to the Range where the Archers hang out. Over to the left you can see the barracks where the Infantry spend their days and off in the distance you can make out the Stables where our Cavalry reside. Now, if you'll follow me just up th…

well... you may think i'm silly... but.... Sometimes, you get attached to certain characters in tv-shows, movies, music. They are icons for you, and many others. Some of those people are living legends. Nearly everybody on this planet knows who that person is. Today, not too long ago, i have read that Sir Christopher Lee has passed away. This saddens me. His passing leaves a hole in this world, all be it the real world, the movie world or even the music scene. He is someone that simply can not be replaced. A salute, dear friends, to this wonderful man. Rest in peace, you shall be missed

Maybe if someone gave me a M-G Brew or 100 (so I don't have to deplete my stash from my time in charge), I might stick around a bit more. And which fool gave Horn the keys to the Band?

  19. We've had Tune or No Tune for a while, but since we are also the Social Group dedicated to food, we need to have some food activities too! Eat or Don't Eat is pretty simple... I will occasionally share a picture, description, and recipe. You can vote whether you would want to try it or not by replying, with Eat or Don't Eat (in bold so it is easy to spot). This counts as an activity thread for points as well! Also... I'll give bonus points if anyone ever actually follows the recipe and gives their verdict, with picture evidence! For the first Eat or Don't Eat: Spinach Balls. Spinach Balls are an oven-baked hors d'oeuvre made primarily from spinach, cheese…

Horn holds a parchment in his hands. Senior-Lieutenant Thane Vakarian, front and center! The Senior-Lieutenant approaches and salutes before standing at attention. F Horn of Valere reads from the parchment: To all assembled, let it be made known that Senior-Lieutenant Thane Vakarian stands before you today to be recognized for his service to our organization. In addition to his devotion to the Band of the Red Hand, in which his activity provides immeasurable benefit, Thane Vakarian was the driving for…

I'm pooling my allowance for the next few months to pay for it (my wife and I get "allowances" so we budget our "for fun" spending and so our gifts to each other actually come from each other)... but Amazon just sent me my email invitation to get the Amazon Echo! I'm pretty excited about it (I use my phone now for TuneIn, and I'd much rather have something voice activated that doesn't tie up my phone). Only downer is its limited roll out means I won't get it until June. It will be a long wait...

I'm sending your usergroup request in just as soon as I hit the Post New Topic button. *hands over a UC concoction* This is from a newer batch,. I'm trying something new. Still waiting for Wolfie to try his original batch. Early data was inconclusive so I'm trying another recipe. Now have a blast and meet some great people!
