It's that time again, Kinsters and anyone else who wants to play along! I think setting goals is important to everyone and it's a great way to stay on target and get things done. The best part about this here in the Kin is that we are here to support each other and give motivation to see these goals through. That's the purpose of this thread! Everyone knows someone who is down on their luck this season. In years past, the Kin have come together to give a little to their fellow Kin to help make their holidays a little brighter. Here at the Kin, we have a dedicated Paypal account for just this purpose. It is not connected to anyone's personal account, so the money donated just sits there until it's sent out to a Kinster in need. In the past, we've raised enough money to provide presents to small children and turn a small chicken dinner into a full on Christmas feast. I thought it might be fun to talk about what we're reading now and how we feel about it (especially since I'm reading something freakin' awesome!)! Soo..

This time of year, we get to see a ton of really great things that people do to help one another, be nice to each other, or just be all around awesome! Take a minute to tell us about it so we get the warm fuzzies, too!

So I do this unit with my class every year, but I thought it might be fun to do it here, too! Last week, we focused on Hanukkah at the beginning of the week, and merry old England at the end! Good grief, November already? What do you like about this time of year? What do you dislike? What are you "blah humbug" about that everyone else seems to enjoy? One of the things I love about November is the concerted effort everyone makes to being thankful for the good things in their lives (and even the things that aren't so good). So here is our annual Thanksgiving thread. Whether your American or not, it's still a great time to focus on the things you are thankful for and verbalize that thanks and not keep it to yourself!

I have a thing for jokes that don't hold up under their own weight. I also like jokes that disappoint their audiences and leave you shaking your head in frustration. I'll start to give you an idea of what I mean! What did Stonehenge say to the archaeologist? Menhir own business. Why does Piglet smell? Because he plays with Pooh. I'm never going to the zoo again. All they had was a dog. It was a shih tzu. How do you make a clown cry? You kill his family. What sort of bad jokes do you know, Kinsters? I'd like to avoid Nazi jokes and dead baby jokes, please.

The goal here is to collect otherwise useless facts! Number your facts, add as many as you like! Let's see how high we can get it without duplicates by the end of the month!

In the Aiel, we're currently hosting our fall Culture Fair! This time, our focus is food! We'll be looking at the foods of different cultures, discussing nutrition, having a food fightpicnic, and attempt to figure out which foods, desserts, and drinks are the best. Holy COW! It's August, already!!! Our theme this month is BOOKS and since I will be starting school next week (HOLY CRAP!), what books did your teachers read aloud to you while you were in school that really stuck with you?
