  1. Started by Tenshin_Xo,

This review is for the Xbox 360 version. I recently downloaded the demo for this game and after playing through two different battles I'm fairly impressed. This game presents an interesting new take on the RTS genre, with the removal, or limiting of the birds eye view that has been a staple of the genre. Now we see the battle from the point of view of our soldiers, and their support troops(occasionally things like UAV spy drones afford us a better view). We have the ability for use the controller to assume control over a given unit, which works well enough but isn't required. For a change the AI of the units will follow the overall commands issued pretty we…

Nyneave was so right. Serenity was AWESOME, and Empy was so right, Firefly was AWESOME. Now that I've seen them all, I'm completely bummed that it got cancelled. It had just the right blend of punchy humor and serious storylines that Joss Whedon is SO good at bringing over from Paper to Screen. :'(

Well, they made us wait 11 years, so I suppose the least Blizzard could do is give us three full games' worth of content in return. Because it had gotten too giganormous to ship as one game, StarCraft 2 has been split into three separate titles, one for each campaign: Wings of Liberty for the Terrans, Heart of the Swarm for the Zerg and Legacy of the Void for the Protoss. Each game will have the 'full content' of a 'full game'. Apparently the Terran campaign by itself will last for some 36 missions (although that may be 30 Terran missions and 6 for the bonus Zeratul mini-campaign that ships with it) and the Zerg and Protoss games will be of equal or greater length, s…

Personally I loved this show. It sort of reminded me of Jekyll (a BBC miniseries that was acting brilliantly) crossed with Alias. The wife said it was her favorite new show this season. I am still debating between this and Life on Mars. However from what I heard the ratings were dismal and it could get canned soon. I suggest you check it out though. Now what the critics said... USA Today give it one and a half stars (out of four) and says: … Badly conceived, badly executed, and woefully, ridiculously overcomplicated … Enemy wants you to ask yourself why Edward and his compatriots (including Yes, Dear's Mike O'Malley) would agree to this chip-split pe…

Part of the trio of new releases on Thursday nights, running at 9pm Eleventh Hour is another science/science fiction based mystery thriller. I'll write up my personal review tonight, but in the mean time here is the Newsday review. A quick prediction though, is that Fringe will have overall better ratings, Fox will cancel it, and Eleventh Hour will pick it's watchers to go on to a successful run. [/cynicism]

Hey footballers and those that just lurk routing for yours truly to beat everyone. Here is how last week's matchups shook out. Hax vs. Seggie - Unfortunately for Seggie, the Giants decided to light Seatle up this weekend which meant major points for Hax. It may have also helped Seggie to pay attention to his team and put in another RB as the Raiders were on a bye week. In the end Hax dominated Seggie 130 to 79. Empy, JD and Hax all picked this game correctly. Empy vs. F Horn - I admit, this was not my best week. It also didn't help that F Horn played Garcia who shouldn't have played but was put in after Griese got injured. But in the end, Empy had no probl…

Because I enjoy beating Empy to these. Whitecloak Warriors (2-2) vs. Boyo's Soy Bombers (4-0) Yes I lost, and no I'm not happy about it, as newbies everywhere can attest to. My Warriors had good days from Edge James and Santana Moss, along with a huge game from Laverneous Coles. Wasn't enough though, as Boyo's team is a machine, the whole team scores in the late teens or mid twenties. He's currently leading the league in points scored by almost fifty over the second highest scorer (The Whitecloak Warriors by the by. *nods*) and looks unstoppable. The only salve in any of this is that the bombers will probably go undefeated through the reg season and then ge…

Well folks the time is coming when we can start setting up our hockey league. We did it on yahoo last year, and I'm getting people's preferences about if that's good for this year too, and how many teams we'll have on the league. Most league setups are taking place the first week of september.

  15. Screenwriter Jonathan Hensleigh ("Die Hard With A Vengeance," "Jumanji," "The Saint," "Armageddon," "The Punisher," "Next") is developing an AMC series based on Kim Stanley Robinson's 1992 sci-fi novel "Red Mars," about the first Earth colony on the solar system's fourth planet. Publisher's Weekly describes the novel: All I have to say is that AMC needs to get in HD if they are going to be putting out quality shows....

So... I was playing this most of last night. I know... I am awesome cause I get all the new games when they come out. I even now own a Rock Band 2 T-Shirt. No.. I didn't buy it... they gave it to me for being that awesome. When I go to pick up a game this is literally how the conversation goes. Store Geek Guy: "So do you want to put any games on reserve?" Short Pause, back to Store Guy: "Erm, nevermind you already have everything reserved. You are awesome" Emp Pseudo Geek: "I know man, I know" Anyway... I picked up SW last night. My thoughts. 1. I throw throwing people off the ledges via force grip. I am a lazy player and prefer to just t…

I have it DVRed to watch sometime this week. Here are what the critics say... USA Today give it four stars (out of four) and says: … You can't expect every skit in a show like this to work, and of course, some don't. What's startling is that the vast majority do, and those few that flop are over so quickly, you're already laughing at something else by time you notice. Indeed, the only real downside of the program is that they've made only six episodes.… Entertainment Weekly gives it an “B” and says: … Funny, but better material ships next week, so hang on. TV Guide says: … a howlingly funny freak-show tour of America. It’s all very r…

I just have a few concerns about fantasy baseball playoffs. 1. Two weeks for the final game. In theory this sounds good. Except for the fact that many teams are out of the playoff picture. When teams are no longer in the running, they sit their star players. This happened to Arod and Abreau last week when the Yankees realized they were done. I am also seeing other of my start players being benched because they ARE in the playoffs and they are saving their stars for these important games. I would suggest that next year the final playoffs are either a week earlier if we do two weeks or only a week. 2. There should be a cap on the amount of transactions in a…

I just saw this movie for the first time in about 5 or 6 years. I had forgotten most of the cast, and was taken aback to see none other than Seth Rogen in it. I thought he was a relative newcomer, and was floored to see him in this. It also never hit until I re-watched it that Donnie's mom is Laura Roslin, of BSG fame. Cellar Door, Frank, Cellar Door.

So Spore recently released a Creature Creator demo to try out and I've been having some fun with that. You can get it at: http://www.spore.com/ftl When installing a game, don't install the EA download manager. For some people (me) it makes Spore crash to desktop. Anyways, when I finally got it to work, I did what I've been thinking about for more than a year now. I made a zergling. Or as close to a zergling as I could given the limbs and controls available. I call it a proto-zergling, the creature that the zergling is based off of :D. Other than that I've just been messing around with it and creating zany creatures. The second creature I…

A crime drama about a former fake-psychic who now uses his powers of observation to help California cops, “The Mentalist” was created by Bruno Heller, who earlier created HBO’s brilliant period drama “Rome.” The new show stars Simon Baker (“Smith,” “The Devil Wears Prada”), Robin Tunney (“Hollywoodland”) and Amanda Righetti (“The O.C.”). The pilot gets off to a shaky start, thanks to some subtlety-free direction by TV’s ubiquitous David Nutter, but the haunted, atheist, rulebreaking title character, compellingly assayed by Baker, quickly distinguishes itself among the vast blue sea of primetime cops. The Associated Press says: … He's flighty, cheeky,…

  30. A friend of mine got advanced screening passes through his work, so a group of us went last night. Since it isn't officially released for a few weeks, I'll give a spoiler free review. The gist of the story is that Hollywood is producing the "ultimate" war movie. They've tapped an A list cast, including a fading action star who wants to transition to serious movies, a comedian most famous for his fart jokes, a rapper, and a deep method actor who refuses to break character at any point in the filming. The director, after realizing that his stars are too concerned with their product placements and Oscar chances to fully immerse themselves in the story, decides to take t…
