By Garth Franklin May 22nd 2008, PG-13, 123mins, Paramount Pictures In spite of an over reliance on CG, and one too many obvious moments of George Lucas-involved over-the-top tomfoolery, the latest "Indiana Jones" is a great piece of major studio-produced escapist entertainment. Unfortunately, that may not be enough. Like it or not, the 'Jones' franchise is like the original "Star Wars" trilogy - to a whole generation of now grown-up adults, they are a childhood sacred cow that cannot be beaten or even objectively criticized. With these films, they want another dark adventure masterpiece like "Raiders of the Lost Ark" every time. What they've gotten is very …

I suck at reviewing games and critiquing things... but I just had to put it out there that I am addicted to this game. I bought it Saturday and started playing it yesterday and have logged 10+ hours on it already. I wasn't a huge fan of the combat system at first but it has grown on me. For those that don't know, contrary to every other FF game I've played, you don't have a group you run around with, all battles are fought soley with you main character who the story is focused around. I have also been pleased with how well they working the story lines together. Again for those that may not have known Crisis Core is the prequel story to the original FF VII. It even g…

AAaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnndddddd here we go! To start things off, I must admit that Corki.... you scared me for pretty much the entire week. I wasn't sure I would win until Sunday. So I tip my cap to you sir, because I totally expected to crush you. Well played. Boyo defeats Corki 6-3-1 I must admit that I have thoroughly enjoyed laughing at my brother. He had strutted around the first couple of weeks saying how awesome his team was and that "my team was good too". Well now I'm laughing and he's confounded and crying himself to sleep at night. west tex defeats my bro 4-2-4 To senior hot streak, aka Empy. Empy Empy Empy... I expected so much more from yo…

Yeah, when I have no fleshy friends, I've got to keep my make-believe Internet friends in mind. *laugh* http://www.plusev.net/d/20060811.html (First strip.) From the site:

  13. http://www.gamepro.com/sony/ps3/games/reviews/191668.shtml Review taken from www.gamepro.com (notice that nice shiney link at top?) I agree with everything this man said, except about the 'stress' thing being confusing, and the weapon/item selection interupting the flow of combat. Quite honestly, I wish MORE games did that... God I hate trying to find that perfect weapon on a single player game, and end up fumbling then, boom I die. ;) The only thing I have to say about this game is it is, Intense PURE AWESOME And a Remarkably Awesome Plot, with more twists and turns, then every M.Night Movie ever made, Combined, and put in a blender! Seriously…

Anyone watching this season? Loving it so far. Catherine Tate has far surpassed my expectations. Much better than Martha- nowhere near as irritating and it's nice to have a companion that doesn't want to get the Doctor's pants. Loving the build up to all the stuff with Rose. And Moffat writes amazing episodes. The Library last night? SO GOOD.

Not the home run that they hit the first time around with "Iron Man", this second effort of the new Marvel Studios is good enough that it fixes some of the key problems brought up by Ang Lee's generally dismissed first attempt at adapting Hulk for the big screen. Despite a lot of outright hostility towards it these days, the 2003 "Hulk" remains a textbook example of a noble failure. Superhero movies are like the James Bond franchise - variations on the same formula. Those that truly succeed push the boundaries, but also stick to and make best use of certain pre-set structural rules. Lee's "Hulk" abandoned them altogether, crafting an odd blend of morose 'Jekyll and H…

In the only TV worth watching news I report to my dear friends of the 'Chan and our many visitors that the Boston Celtics have taken a 3-1 lead in Finals over the Lakers. If you haven't been watching it... well you're missing an amazing series. I imagine you'll get a couple more chances as the Lakers will most likely hold court in game five and the Celtics will polish em off in game 6. I would post about how much I've enjoyed the games so far and my thoughts and analysis but I actually think I'm very much alone in my love for the NBA (maybe sports altogether) in this org. With the exception of Maj's love for football (not the american variety either, the realfoo…

  19. A little harder than the Name that Movie from the Picture game but just as fun Basically, you post a picture, Anyone can guess and if you get it right, then you post a followup Video Game Picture. So on and so forth... If you do not want to go, Just say so, so someone else can take your turn. Hint: A good idea is not to have the name of the Video Game as the name of the picture. A simple way to check the name of the picture, is to right click on the picture, click on properties, and in the part where it says Address(URL) the words after the last /xxxx_000.jpg = the name, Or simply the upperleft corner of that properties window will contain the name of the jpeg…

At Empy's request, here is week 10. :P :P After what seemed like was going to be a 10 to nothing victory, FDM fought back and managed to hold me to an 8-2 victory. :P Empy and the Seggienator went head to head this week and Seggies skull got crushed in as he lost to empy 8-2. In a battle of the mid ranked, the Bro and Corki clubbed each other all the way to a 5-4 outcome with the bro being victorious. The marital match up of the Tigers and west tex showed whose really the boss :P . The tigers handily defeated west tex 7-3. Standings 1. Boyo's Brick Wall 2. The Tigers 3. Emp's Egomaniacs 4. Are you ready? Really? You sure? Okay here I go.. Week 9 Recap Though this week was an embarrassing one for me, I still managed to extend my lead at least 10 games over everyone. I faced Seggie last week, and I must say it didn't go as well as I had planned. the game finished 4-4-2. Empy returned to his crushing ways as he faced The Tigers. It was quite the impressive victory over the team I considered my biggest threat. Congrats Empy and thank you. Empy defeated Tigers 8-2 Bro bro bro.... *sigh* well he faced FDM in their second matchup and *sigh* lost again. I believe that if he loses another match up I might have to disown him... nah but he'll n…

  25. My first experience with Age of Conan, was durring the Stress Test Beta, then on May 20th, I bought it when it was finally released. I've been playing this game about 3-6 hours daily, and have gotten to Level 34. Personally, I love the game, I love decapitation Fatalities, and even with all the problems its having, Its still fun to play. As some of you have heard about this game, it is M for Mature due to Extreme Violence, and Nudity. That 'nudity' is escentially lvl 1 newbs running around with female characters toppless. ;) Aside from that, there are very few 'nude' npcs in the game. Not even the Harem Girls are nude! sucks. MWAHAHAHAHAHA. As many of you know I'm not a tv kind of guy and generally can take it or leave it. How did I end up in the Seanchan Org you might ask yourself? If, that is, you're the kind of person that asks yourselves questions that really don't have any kind of value to knowing the answers. The answer is simple. I was kidnapped by Empy and inducted into the Chan against my will. He then bribed me into staying by offering me Barm as my personal OJ fetcher. Which is great for two reasons. 1: All the OJ I can choke down. 2: Anyone next to Barm instantly seems 10 times funnier than they actually are. And I need that kind of crutc…

The FCC wants to hold another one of their fancy auctions where they sell something they don't own that shouldn't be for sale. This time the winning bid will allow a company the dubious honor of giving away free wireless internet service to everyone. Oh, also, the free internet that is provided will have content restrictions. No porn or obscene material will be allowed on the FCC's free airwaves. Since when is porn and being obscene illegal?

  30. Summary: (Ie minor spoilers) A thousand years have passed in Narnia since the Pevensie kids left. During their abscence, Narnia has been invaded by the Telmarines, and the Narnians are supposed to be extinct. When the Telmarine general Miraz fathers a son, he attempts to assassinate Prince caspian, the rightful heir to the throne, who is forced to flee into exile. When he leaves the castle, his tutor gives him a mysterious horn, which Caspian must only use in the absolute greatest need. Of course this need comes quite quickly... In England, a year after the events in The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, the Pevensie kids are at an underground railway station…
