Again, not an ...err... exact quote. He is returning to Green Bay next year. "I am so excited about coming back," he said in the paper. "We have a good nucleus of young players. We were 8-8 last year and that's encouraging. My offensive line looks good, the defense played good down the stretch. I'm excited about playing for a talented young football team." So, yeah. Another year for for Favre.

Two bits of SF&F film news. First off, Joss Whedon has stepped down from his role as writer and director of the new Wonder Woman movie, citing creative differences with the studio. Nothing acrimonius, merely that it's a very high-budget film and with the studio feeling somewhat lukewarm about his ideas, he felt more comfortable developing his own projects. Elsewhere, Dan Ackroyd confirms that he has talked Bill Murray into making Ghostbusters 3, eighteen years after the second movie was released. Because Murray has only agreed to provide his voice, the third movie will be fully-CGI-animated and will take the Ghostbusters to a parallel hell version of New York City…

I am sure you have heard of it by now.... but just in case let me tell you how ... uptight...err..... well... what happens when you poke the bear too often like Bush does. Here is what happened: The Mooninites from Aqua Teen Hungerforce have invaded Boston. According to CBS4 Boston, four suspicious devices have virtually shut down the city, with the bomb squad, the police, and no doubt the FBI examining the devices, and speculating that they are connected to terrorism. The would-be bomb...errr... light-brite Scary huh. I also heard that when the two that were arrested (27 year olds), they were told to not comment at the press conference. So …

CBS, or 'the old people's network,' is trying to change their image by picking up a couple of pilots that are definitely not the same ol' CSI, Without A Trace, scare your grandmother about the world we live in kinda stuff. The first is called Babylon Fields, and it's the story of a bunch of zombies. Yes, zombies. And how them being zombies is a "sardonic, apocalyptic American comedy-drama where the dead are rising and as a result, lives are regained, families restored and old wounds reopened." Then, there's Twilight, the story of a vampire/private eye. Really, 'nuff said there, I think. The over under on total episodes actually airing? Three. And I'll take the under.

GRAW was the reason I bought the Xbox so I can not tell you how excited I am about the second one. In the GRAW 2 single-player demo, which is set during the second mission of the game, Scott Mitchell must lead the Ghost team in Mexico to clean a rebel camp on the outskirts of the city of Juarez with the goal of destroying a number of objectives to open a breach for the allied loyalist Mexican army. The player starts as a lone wolf, and then progresses through different levels, acquiring a number of new tools, weapons and abilities, such as commanding the Ghost squad and both the UAV Cypher and M.U.L.E support drones. All of these tools fall under direct player con…

Err, not really a quote from the operating system. Microsoft's brand new Vista operating system may be very pretty, but according to game publisher, the OS will break about 90% of Windows games. The problem lies mainly with Vista's enhanced security. "It's almost certain that Vista's digital rights technology will break existing casual games," said Alex St. John, teh president of casual game company Wild Tangent. For example saving game progress won't be able with Vista, he said. Another problem: A parental filter unique to Vista that blocks games based on ESRB ratings. Most casual games you might download aren't rated, so are stopped automatically.

Umm, when there is nothing else on, I can not help to land on G4 and watch whatever they have on. I think Yveva secretly likes it as well... or at least all the pretty colors. Does anyone else watch it? What shows do you watch? X-Play is my favorite.

German film-maker Uwe Boll's controversial film adaptations of videogames have given rise to endless amounts of bile and complaints from gamers. Of course, in real life, no one knows who Uwe Boll is and no one cares what gamers think about anything, least of all their opinions on the problems with the movie version of Alone in the Dark. That's all about to change, though if IGN's look at Uwe's upcoming film version of Postal is accurate. According to the website's writer, who saw 20 minutes of Postal footage, the upcoming movie contains the following: A fully frontally naked Dave Foley taking a crap on camera. Osama Bin Laden making jokes about 9/11 Colu…

My goodness. One of the first indicators I use to judge if a movie is going to be good is the trailers that preceed it. It started with Black Snake Moan... which was the first I had heard of it and it looks bad. It was followed by about three silly movies I can not remember and then we come across The Fuzz. It is by the makers of Shawn of the Dead and has all the same people in the film. I gotta say, The Fuzz is a movie I am psyched about and I will post a link to the trailer in the TRailers later. Now on to the movie. Well first let me say.... when you are sitting in the theatre, you should not automatically assume all the seat around you will be reserved.…

I know there is a seperate thread for YouTube videos, but since there are a bunch of these, I wanted to make it it's own thread. For those who don't know, recut movie trailers are movie trailers that people make from an existing movie and they then "recut" them to make it a genre that the original movie wasn't about. The first trailer explains it better than I ever could. Enjoy.

Errr, I mean he is directing an episode of The Office. Yeah, I got you all excited. Anyway here is what Pam from The Office posted on her myspace... In officeland…our newest scripts are SO GOOD that I actually yelped during our latest script reading. When I heard the plot of our next script I gasped! I wish I could say more. I think you will be very pleased. There are lots of cringy, wonderful, funny moments. And some very touching ones as well... This week we are shooting with hot shot director Joss Whedon! This has been especially exciting for me because I already knew Joss. (He has known my husband for a long time.) Joss has quickly become one of our favorit…

Basically what moments in TV (recent or futher back) that made you go "Holy Sh*t!". It is not often a show catches me off guard but here are a few that I can remember. Buffy and Spike getting it on for the first time. I remember the loud zip of his pants clearly. Exodus Part 2 when the Galatica jumps into the atmosphere of New Caprica and then jumps out again. I will have more as I think on this...

British kids really love Harry Potter. So much so, in fact, that they are creating a new reality series on the BBC in which kids will be able to live in a mansion much like Hogwart's, and learn magic from instructors who will judge their value and then kick them out of their dream, one at a time, while the rest of the country sits on their chaise lounges and laughs at them. The show is called The Sorcerer's Apprentice, and it will be instructional, as well. The kids watching at home will be able to learn tricks along the way. And then be pummeled at school when other kids find out that they're sitting home in their robes watching magic on television.

Went to see "Catch and Release" yesterday, not with Emp. A friend of mine and I, in an attempt to hang out more often, go to chick flicks together. The first one we saw together was "The Holiday" which I really highly recommend, and would totally add to my meagre collection of DVDs. Not so with Catch and Release. There was good potential for characters and even plotlines, but the whole thing fell rather flat. Kevin Smith was superfab in it, but Jennifer Garner shouldn't have wound up with a guy in the end, and dangit, why introduce the son character if it wasn't going to amount to something, likewise with the fishing metaphor. *sigh* so much potential wasted. Th…

So I keep bringing up this movie because everything I hear about it points to a great movie. However, no one has ever heard of it. So I figured I would piece together something to let you know what this movie is about and hopefully get you excited about it. Description: "Pan's Labyrinth" is a fanciful and chilling story set against the backdrop of a fascist regime in 1944 rural Spain. The film centers on Ofelia, a lonely and dreamy child living with her mother and adoptive father; a military officer tasked with ridding the area of rebels. In her loneliness, Ofelia creates a world filled with fantastical creatures and secret destinies. With post-war repression at …

Nearly everyone has watched at least *some* "reality" tv. Time to admit to it!! Fill out the following categories appropriately. And be honest! One episode More than one episode, less than a season a full season More than one season, less than two seasons More than two seasons, less than all seasons All seasons, give or take an episode To encourage honesty, I'll go first (it's not pretty) One episode Amazing Race Survivor You're the One That I Want Anna Nicole Smith show VH1s white rapper show Making the Band 3 Blow Out More than one episode, less than a season The Osbournes I Love New York My Fair Brady Newlyweds (wha…

Hi, I want to start a new feature on these hear boards (and put my Netflix to better use). I'd like to start up some head-to-head TV and Movie comparisons. There are plenty of tv shows and movies that borrow from the same genre and I'd like to pit them against eachother and choose a winner. Not everyone has to watch them, but if you've seen them you're welcome to weigh in. So, nominations for challenges? Ones that come to mind for me are: Lady in the Water vs. Pan's Labyrinth Alias vs. Buffy The Illusionist vs. The Prestige etc. They don't have to be recent, but I want to do them once they are out on DVD so that I can get them off netflix. (feel free to n…

So tonight, Yveva and I are going out to see Letters. For those of you unfamiliar with this film.... well it just got a Golden Globe for Best Foreign Feature and I think it will be nominated for an Oscar for Best Film. Directed by Clint Eastwood, the film is the story of the battle of Iwo Jima between the United States and Imperial Japan during World War II, as told from the perspective of the Japanese who fought it. I am sure Yveva and I will have a review up sometime over the weekend. If you see a movie over the weekend, please post and let us know about it.

Let me know which films you think are the worst. The RAZZIES® were created in 1980 by lifelong cinemaniac and cynic John Wilson, author of both THE OFFICIAL RAZZIE® MOVIE GUIDE and EVERYTHING I KNOW I LEARNED AT THE MOVIES. Nominees were determined by mailing ballots to 737 Golden Raspberry Foundation members throughout 42 US states and more than a dozen foreign countries. Should they choose to accept their RAZZIES® "winners" receive a gold-spray-painted, golf-ball-sized raspberry atop a mangled super 8 film reel, with an estimated street value of $4.97. For more information on the RAZZIE® Awards, and their ill-lustrious history, please visit www.razzies.com. Wor…

Ok, I came into the game a little late, getting hooked on season 2 of Project Runway without having seen season 1. I didn't like season 3 as much as the first two, I liked that season 1 was so low budget, and I really liked some of the designers on season 2 (Nick, for example). Season 3 had ups and downs, but didn't quite hook me the way the first two did. Top Chef is alright, but since I can't taste the food it's hard to tell if I agree with the judges or not... and it makes me hungry :) So, new to the game is "Top Design." What do y'all think of the concept? Is Bravo oversaturating the "intellectual reality competition" market? What sorts of challenges do y…

Ok what are the thinking. A sequal and a prequal? Is Hollywood that hard up for movies? *throws hands in that air* "We may do another one, because it's based on a Hong Kong film ['Infernal Affairs'], and there is a trilogy," Mark Wahlberg said. "So we may do a sequel with a new cast, and a prequel and bring back the rest of the guys." "They're talking to Robert De Niro and a couple of other people," Wahlberg continued. "Anybody who is anybody wants to work with Marty." The site also mentions that rumors suggest Scorsese is seriously considering the possibility of a trilogy.

Wedding Bells sounds alot like Six Feet Under... The Drive is the new one with Nathan Fillion which we have a thread about somewhere. Nothing here that really makes me swoon to watch Fox. New dramas "The Wedding Bells" and "Drive" and new comedy "The Winner" will join Fox's spring schedule, which also features new time periods for comedies "'Til Death" and "The War at Home" and the drama "Standoff." "The Wedding Bells," a romantic dramedy from executive producers David E. Kelley, Jason Katims and Jonathan Pontell, premieres in its regular time period Friday, March 9 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on Fox. A special preview airs Wednesday, March 7 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) aft…
