We saw "Happy Feet" over Thanksgiving weekend with the nieces and nephews. I really wanted to see this after reading a review at AICN calling it "The most F***ed up piece of propaganda ever!". Boy, it didn't disappoint. The plot, is that Mumble, an Emperor penguin, dances instead of sings. Singing covers of Prince and Elvis songs is how they attract mates in their society, so Mumble is labeled as a weirdo from the get go. At this point, you think the movie is going to be about learning a Valuable Life Lesson in Tolerance. However, that is not the full story. See, the penguins have a problem. There's not as much fish in the ocean these days. Mumble gets the cra…

Although some of you may, in fact, find this entertaining. It looks like we will be leaving Alaska for good this time. I just accepted a job at Montezuma Castle National Monument in Arizona. I've heard the climate there is quite similar to that of Alaska (the state starts with an A, after all), so I think we'll find ourselves at home. Although I am a little freaked out about finding a scorpion under my pillow. But I blame that on my friend who was trying to creep me out. Anyway, just thought I'd share the exciting news with y'all. And let you know that you should get your igloo jokes in while you can. You've got a month.

ok, I KNOW I am not the only one out there to watch crap tv. So what have you been known to linger on long enough that "I happened to see, while just flipping through channels,..." is a blatant lie? Most recently, it was Flavour of Love. Thanks to VH1's endless repeats of episodes I saw pretty much all of season one, and about a third of season 2. Nowadays, and I admit it, I have been known to watch Top Model. (*if* it is on on a weekend... I mostly get interested in how they manipulate the photos from what they looked like when they were taken.. it's magic I say!). And this isn't really crap tv, but it's TV that doesn't really need to be watched... I have w…

This makes me happy in some 80's geek level.... Charlotte's Web producer Jordan Kerner talked to Moviehole about the upcoming big screen adaptation of The Smurfs. The site shared the following with ComingSoon.net: "It's a 3-D/CG Smurfs," said Kerner. "You just can't make those guys live – it'd be a little weird, but a 3D Shrek world of them - that's fantastic." Kerner says he has been researching the popular '80s cartoon extensively. "Having seen all 234 episodes of the show, numerous times, Herb Ratner and I have been working really hard at looking where all the holes were in the episodes - ya'know, like all of a sudden another woman appears, it's not ju…

Since Empy is being a non-internet-having slacker, I figured I'd post this bit o' e-news: The teaser for The Order of the Phoenix is out: http://www.movie-list.com/trailers.php?id=harrypotter5 Thoughts? Personally, I don't think the woman they got to play Umbridge is anywhere near "froggy" enough.

I just watched How I Met Your Mother and always laugh when I watch this show. It gets my vote.

So, what do y'all play? PC? Platform? Which platform? Favorite games? We have two computers and a PS2. On PS2 I like the action/rpg type of game, no first person shooters though. Those drive me nuts since I've never figured out how to use the controls. Chris and I have a lot of martial arts games too... several Soul Calibur titles, some Mortal Kombat, a few others. My favorite that I've played in the last couple of years was The Bard's Tale... the bard being voiced by Cary Elwes. On the computer I play Sims 2 ad nauseum (I have all the expansions and stuff packs). I have an addiction problem :D ... I'm even into the whole storytelling aspect of it though I hav…

Comcast techies are not the brightest buttons in the box, and as a result, though Emp's cable is up and running (with several ESPNs in hd, Football station of some sort, etc, etc), his internet is not. It SHOULD be up on Thurrrrrsday though, so watch the board for a triumphant return! (I think he's spending his time figuring out how to block E! and Style! and Oxygen/Oprah/any other channel or program that is too estrogen-laden to be playing in a manlyman's apartment :P )

Ok all you Seanchan, I need help. Here's my problem... Me and a couple of my bros went to see The PRestige last Friday, in the trailers before it, we saw the trailer for a certain movie, the movie looked really good, but we cannot remember the name of the movie. I do remember that it is the one where there is a woman writing a story, and a guy in real life happens to be one of her characters. He keeps hearing a voice out of no where, no one else hears it, it is actually her voice, as the narrator...at one time he's walking on the sidewalk and she's like "He shouted at the sky" (or was it he "cursed" the sky?) and then he yells up into the sky where the vouce seems…

I am moving this weekend, and that means a slight interruption in cable and internet service starting today. I will be back up and running on Tuesday though. Have a great weekend.

Brightlight Pictures announced today that Natassia Malthe (DOA: Dead or Alive, Elektra) will star in Uwe Boll's BloodRayne 2. Released on DVD earlier this year through Visual Entertainment, BloodRayne marked the first time a theatrical release was packaged with the complete original PC game which inspired it. In the BloodRayne 2 movie, as in the game, only Rayne, born of the unnatural union of vampire and human, stands between an unsuspecting humanity and a horrifying vampire dawn. The screenplay is written by Christopher Donaldson and Neil Every. In addition to the "BloodRayne" franchise, Brightlight Pictures and Uwe Boll have partnered on a number of features, d…

Good people of SC, I just wanted you to be the first (well not first but... errr... well...errr... close to top of the list... of internet people) to know that there will soon to be a Mrs. Emperor of Seanchan as I have asked Yveva to marry me and she said yes. I mean, we all knew she would say yes because who can turn down the Emp... but... yeah.... girls are silly sometimes. So the news is out. OHHH and I am also moving to PA next week. I think I forgot to spill the beans about that too. OHHH and I have three nipples. What? Ok I made that last bit up to continue the shock factor. Anyway, here is a picture of the ring on Yveva's wee hand.

Yep, so every Friday my friend and I head up to the local cinema and check out the most interesting movie. Today's movie, as you might have guessed from the title is Martin Scorsese's The Departed. I am going to start off with what will sound like a bold statement, but when you think about it after you have seen it I am absolutely right. So far this year this is the best movie I have seen on the big screen. The casting was brilliant and the acting some of the best I have seen this year. Keep in mind this is a gritty crime drama on par with such classics as Goodfellas and possibly The Godfather. I have no doubt that Leo (and I hate him for some reason) will get a…

Gotcha, he is going to do an episode of Lost on Nov 8th. Some details with no spoilers: The episode, titled "I Do," marks the decision by Kate (Evangeline Lilly) to hook up with either Jack (Matthew Fox) or Sawyer (Josh Holloway). Fillion will play a character named Kevin in the episode, which is the last one until the show returns on February 7.

This morning as I was eating my blueberry waffles (mmmm) I happened to catch part of the Colbert Report. He was doing some sort of honoring women day and decided to interview Jane Fonda and Gloria Stinem while making apple pie. It was v. amusinating and I am wondering if anyone else happened to catch it (it will likely be on youtube eventually).

I think I bring this up every Halloween, but what movies really scared you? I have a few I will post later today.

Ok guys? Who saw it? What do you think? When did you figure things out? I went to see it with my lovely boyfriend... I know I saw a preview for it at least once, but I had no idea what I was in for, I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it. Go ahead and spoil after this post, I wanna discuss!

Looks like Fox and Universal are pulling out of this one. http://film.guardian.co.uk/news/story/0,,1927385,00.html

I figured I would start a topic (or lead the way in non entertainment topic starting) with at least one weekly topic of the non-tv/movie sort. Since there are so many couples on the boards, I thought a fun topic would be how you were asked/how you asked someone to marry you...oh and if they said yes. Go!!!
