So, after hubby lost his job right about when I started my first Kickstarter, I've been sitting on the idea for... a while. So much so that I expanded my idea, refined my design aspect, and then submitted and have now started it again. I reached funding just after about 2 weeks, and I am really close to unlocking the second Iris pin. I've blasted my social media but trying not to get too annoying in the other places I am active. Went to the Aquarium in Cape Town yesterday. My photos didn't come out so well but the videos are ok. I'll post a few here. Please feel free to post your own photos of visits like these (aquariums, zoos, etc). I can't remember what this is called but it's not a shark. It's in the same pool as the rays. I love rays!

Our little Warder, Michael James! Born April 15 @ 8:18 am after I had to be induced the previous morning, he joined us in the world. He looks like his dad, tons of blonde hair and has the longest fingers/toes I've seen on a little one! We got home from the hospital yesterday and the cats weren't too sure of him. We love him so much and we're so happy to be home!

My one cat, Precious, was hit by a speeding driver on Friday morning. He's in hospital with a broken jaw, ripped open leg, and possible broken hip joint. It's absolutely killing me to see my baby in this condition. He's stable at the moment, but we'll probably only know on Wednesday what the prognosis is on his hip. Of course the hospital bills are just racking up (we're currently on about R8000 / $720 and rising), so I've swallowed my pride and started a GoGetFunding drive to help cover the hospital costs. Also, not dead! Just strapped with a new baby-child – sleep deprivation just got real – but he’s so totally worth it. Have pictures of the little guy!! He was three weeks early, but still managed to get to 54 cm long and weighing 3.7 kg – that’s 21.25 inches and 8 lb 3 oz – all while being cute as a button and unimaginably expressionable. His mama and I have been thoroughly exhausted leading up to his arrival, but we’re beginning to catch up. Sorry for disappearing for a stretch, but we were basically living at the hospital for almost a month. Yay for going through unread threads again! \o/

Has anyone else read these books? By Canadian author Miles Cameron. At first, I had a little difficulty with the author's style, but the story is interesting enough, and I adjusted by the midway point of the first book. Currently almost to the end of book 3 of 5.

I think as most of you know, I'm not overly knowledgeable about babies. I'm not interested in most of them, so I don't care. My boss's baby is quite fascinating to me (in small dosages!), though. It really seems to me that the child is quite advanced, when I compare her to others of her age or older. She's 2 years and 3 months old now, can count to 20, knows her ABC, shapes & colours, does puzzles for 4 year olds, etc. This weekend her mother went shopping with her. She was sitting in the shopping trolley and her mom bumped it so hard against the side of the ramp instead of going up the middle of it that the child actually fell over in the trolley. So we've had a horrible stench coming and going at work, for the past 4 months. It seems to originate from the sewerage system, but everyone at the municipality just passes the buck. We've had a number of them come to look, some put "nice smelly stuff" down the sewer, others did nothing except say they'll report it up or it's not their issue. Today we finally had 3 people investigate properly, and it registered a reading of 111 PPM of H2S on their little gadget. They got a massive fright! To illuminate, this is what Wikipedia says about H2S:

Seeing as how I'm getting a ton of heat for my policy of allowing the Social Groups to "police themselves" when it comes to drama within mafia games not on the main board, I've decided to take a firm stance that I unfortunately must extend to all relevant Social Groups (ones that host games). Until further notice, no mafia games are to be played outside of the dedicated main mafia board. The reason is, I have a usergroup set up that I can restrict people from playing mafia as needed without impacting their ability to partake it other aspects of DM. I wanted to start this as a sort of semi-visual commentary of what's going to go down in my home state of Florida, and (to the best of my capacity to do so) to give an on-the-ground perspective before, during, and after the storm passes. I'm not near the fires but there is a significant wind and we are advised to stay in our homes due to the smoke/bad air quality. A friend of a friend lost her home. We lost a Jewish summer camp that has been around for 70 years.
