Wheel of Time TV Show

For all discussion related to Amazon Prime's Wheel of Time TV show.

  1. We got to experience so many complex and interesting plots in the books thanks to the lack of limits such as time and budget. Obviously the show has to operate with limits in every aspect. With that in mind, what significant book plots do you think might have to be abandoned in the show? I think some of the lengthy focus on the Elayne succession or the faile/Perrin abduction and rescue saga will either need to be condensed or eliminated. Just to name two. Any other thoughts or examples?

  2. When I released my non-book reader review of the trailer, I got a few comments from people who were so disappointed with the first season, they’ve completely written off season 2. Which I think, is a shame. So I made a quick video to explain why I think season 2 will be better, and hopefully convince a few season 1 haters to give the show another chance. I'd love to hear some of your reasons why season 2 will be an improvement in the comments!

I know fantasy isn't for everyone, but I didn't think it was this niche. Five articles of Rosamund Pike throwing shade at Gwyneth Paltrow - between them they mention seven of Pike's past/present projects, but not one mention for WoT. What the hell! https://pagesix.com/2023/06/15/rosamund-pike-shades-gwyneth-paltrows-goop/ https://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-body/news/rosamund-pike-shades-wellness-industry-gwyneth-paltrows-goop/ https://www.foxbusiness.com/entertainment/gone-girl-star-rosamund-pike-slams-goop-style-brands-all-being-conned-by-wellness-industry https://people.com/rosamund-pike-shades-gwyneth-paltrow-goop-we…

  4. I just rewatched season one for the first time since reading the full series. I always have subtitles turned on when I watch anything. I noticed that in the scene with logain where he we see the beings whispering in his ear, at least one of them has a name. Elusha or something. I don’t recall anything about that in the source material, does anyone know what that’s about? Maybe the show is going to give him a LTT equivalent in his arc?

  5. Has any seen that prime video added a scene from season 2, at the end of the 'eye of the world' episode in season 1? (approx minute 54.43) Could be a cold open from season 2 possibly? Just wondered what everyone's initial thoughts and feelings are on this scene?

Will strike cause any delays for season 2 or 3. Article I read mentioned showrunners and post production of shows in general being affected by strike.

Silly Title huh? Yes I know but I had to ask to see if others noticed what I did or find out if I'm just imaginig things. It seems to me that during certain scenes in the tv show, I think that Josha is wearing a hair piece and other times it looks like his real hair. I'm thinking especially in the scene in episode seven, where he's shooting the arrows trying to accept the fact that he is the DR, but there were other scenes during season one as well, I just cant recall them at the moment lol. Did anyone else who watched the show agree ? Thanks for answering what is a trivial question but I really need to know.

Is anyone else interested in how the oath that Moiraine swore directly to Siuan is going to effect things down the line? I can't shake the feeling that this is going to be significant for the Tower of Ghenjei storyline and that Siuan will be joining the rescue. They did say they're adapting the full series not book to book so it's possible this little seedling is as important as I think it is for Moiraine's internment in another dimension and eventual rescue....

  10. This is 100% wrong place to post but I think it relates to how animation is medium for fantasy and that I think WoT live will always struggle to capture WoT Magic and Dreamworld. If you haven't seen Nimona on Netflix go watch it. It is wonderful. It gave me a lot of emotional ride i get from reading WoT. Also I think it does diversity, identity, and allegory better than any show I have seen.

Myra Syal was confirmed cast as Verin Mathwin in S2 for Wheel of Time THE WHEEL OF TIME Confirms Meera Syal Is Playing Verin - Nerdist And at the BAFTA Awards ceremony they had a clip of her in costume:

  12. I don’t know how I missed this the first time around, but I’m rewatching the show now and I just noticed that Jain Farstrider is now female in the show! Huh 🤷‍♀️

  13. Why is Mat weeping? I just had a bit of a random idea: In the last episode of Season 1, Moiraine asks that word be sent to the RED Ajah re Mat. Was that just a red herring, or are they changing Mat's story so that he's actually able to Channel and the Reds Gentle him?

  14. I’m curious to hear thoughts on this. Will the show continue to focus on/elevate the romantic relationship between moiraine and siuan, or do you think eventually we’ll see the two end up with the book version of things, moiraine and Thom/siuan and bryne? On the subject of relationships, do you think the show will portray Rand and his 3 ladies the way it is in the books? Seems like it could be a bit cumbersome to portray on screen but who knows?

  15. I dunno. Nyn actually looks ok maybe? Eg - man that's a tough sell. Everybody else looks pretty great. The EW writeup isn't bad, either! Shadar Logoth looks neat. Logain looks good.

  16. What were the things you liked best about S1?!

After all these years reading WOT, I have created certain images in my head of what the characters look like. Then after watching the show, I noticed that some of my mental images of some characters have changed based on how they were cast in the show. For example, lan and nyneave tend to be the actors in the show now in my head canon. And kinda Rand, but he looked pretty much like he does on the show in my head anyway. Egwene is another one and Siuan. Maybe a little Perrin too. Does anyone else have any examples of how the show’s casting changed your head canon of certain characters?

  19. Now that we have some first look photos and some potential S2 episode titles ... let the predictions roll! What do you think is going to happen and when?!

Wanted to get everyones ideal Wheel of Time casting? If you could choose your own favourate actors to make up the wheel of time cast, who would you choose? I probably wont know who you talking about unless you insert pictures lol

We don't know when, But S2 is coming. Based on what you have been reading/watching, where do you think Rafe and team will be taking the show compared to S1 and why? Your choice in the poll doesn't necessarily mean you think the option is good or bad, given the limiting nature of the responses - but please extrapolate in the thread. Should be some interesting comments as we don't all get our information from the same places.

  23. So I'm not really sure why Amazon decided to roll with a collectible sword maker to also allowing them to create jewelry which, to the best of my knowledge, they had no prior experience with. They probably should have stuck with Badali at this point but good news on that front is they let them bring back the silver classic Great Serpent ring and Badali seems hopeful they can get Amazon to roll with a full "classics" re-release. So that's lit. That said, we find ourselves with having Jalic Blades (aka Valyrian Steel) putting out the first TV show ring. I am willing to work with them when they are tooling to do something they have never d…

Saw the latest video from Lezbi Nerdy and it seems the youtube creators have created a WoT Hype Train Tag. Thought it would be great to give our answers here. The questions in question; Wheel of Time Hype Train Tag Questions: What is your favourite episode from season one? Who is your favourite character from season one? What is your favourite piece of dialogue from season one? Which character did you end up loving that you didn't expect to love so much? Who had the best outfit in season one? Who portrayed their character the best and why? Tell us about a moment that unexpectedly made you laugh or cry in…

  25. We WOT book readers have already had to accept that many of the things we wanted to see translated from book to screen are not going to happen, be it budget issues or limited episodes or simply that the vision of the show creator(s) and what they consider important differ in various ways from our own. That being said, in an ideal world, what are some of your top moments from the books that you would especially like to see portrayed on the show? Or were looking forward to seeing that didn’t pan out in season one? I’ll start with a few of my own. I really hope to see the flicker scene and unlike many of you, I actually would like to see the portal stone dimension(s) in o…

  26. In the book forum I posted the sense I get that, or all the major events to happen to the main characters throughout the books, the 3 arches experience of Nyn and Egwene has no long term character impact The scenes themselves are told well, and they include some minor foreshadowing. But neither character is significantly changed by the event, neither character has a moment later on where there experience here “pays off”, either in a choice they make, or an action they succeed in. The scenes post more questions than answers and these questions are never followed up. Yes you can argue as a world building exercise they add something, we get …

  27. (Personal opinion about the show as a whole aside) I’m wondering what scenes people were looking forward to seeing and felt disappointed by their absence. On the other hand were there any scenes that weren’t in the books that were enjoyable? I’ll start with just a few of my own examples of each. I was looking forward to the prologue scene. Also to elyas. I was looking forward to baerlon. Caemlyn. More Thom. Real EOTW ending. Really enjoyed logain stuff, and the scene in the snow with Rands mom and tam, and the scene from the age of legends. anyone else?

  28. On the back of re reading the book series again, as well as thinking about how writing styles have changed over the decades since Robert Jordan wrote WOT, especially in terms of TV writing I wonder, are the Baddies, as they are portrayed in the book, too cartoonish for the TV show? In the modern era viewers want to understand and in some ways sympathise with the "villains" in the movies and tv shows they watch, especially sci fi or fantasy, and those that are able to present the motivations and thinking behind the actions of these characters in a way that makes people go "I understand that" tend to do much better. Some examples in recent years. Homelander is a gre…
