Springtime. The first flowers had turned out but recently, their colours fresh, each scent more powerful than the first. Rain was an occasional visitor dressed most often in gray clouds, sprinkles here and there appearing almost in welcome of the new season. Birds flocked to the skies, each chirp and song sounding just a bit more mellifluous than possible. For Tar Valon, it meant yet another bout of prosperity- laughter swirled through every corner of the street, rare and common fruits both were arriving in cartloads and trade went on with the usual bustle and bargains. Most of all though, people seemed content. Happy. The first days of the New Year in the Tower m…

Once out of the pulsing crowd on the bridge into the city, Badriyah mounted the dun mare she’d been leading and set out at a gallop, headed directly for the White Tower, barely taking note of her surroundings. Had she glanced about she would’ve found the city magnificent, a luxury merely to look upon. Fascinating oddly – shaped buildings lined streets where several Tower Guards and Aes Sedai (as well as those training to be) walked among crowds where people from all nations far and wide mingled. Domanis, tall and willowy with greased beards and rings through their ears, Taraboners, their faces partially hidden by sheer masks, their hair braided and beaded; even Araf…

Walking back to the mirror, Deneira ran her hand through her hair. He would be there any minute, and she wanted to be perfect. She kept fidgiting with the curls, and she was afraid her body was shaking with nervousness. She took a little more of the lip stuff and pouted it onto her lips, then smiled at herself in the mirror. A knock came at the door, and she turned to look at it. Light, he was here. She swallowed, then ran to the door. Her hand rested on the lock, and she smiled to herself. Light, her heart was racing. She had been waiting for tonight for so long. She turned the lock, then slowly turned the doorknob. It opened, and there he stood. Her heart st…

Hi everybody... As some of you know, I have long resisted the possibility (or actuality) of developing a set of off-site boards for us to use here at the Black Tower. I am giving it some consideration once again, and also looking for input from you all as to your opinions on whether it's a good idea or not, personal experiences with off-site boards (either here at DM in other Divs or off DM or whatever the case may be). So chip in, give your 2, 10 or 50 cents worth. Cheers, Dali/Ben.

Rion rested his foot on his knee, tapping his foot idly. One of the many books propped on his knee and Rionr reading with a smile. He had what money he had with him resting on his thigh in a leather bag and his pockets were stuffed with books upon books. He was prepared for the..well worst. Dashiva had told him that he would be able to take him and Jocelyn to wherever she desired for new clothing, which wasn't something Rion would have thought he would be doing and he was prepared for any amount of leangth it would take. Rion flipped the page and yawned into his hand. It was early and Rion had not slept well the past night. He wasn't sure what he would make of a big …

There were few things in the world worse than a botched job. Especially in his line of business. Not only did money need to be returned, but the people he dealt with were never forgiving. He'd have to find another way to plant the information he needed to. He would never get close enough to try it himself again. If he managed to get our of this pickle. This was what happened when you took jobs with a deadline really. He should have never taken the job. Character assassination was hard enough to do without a deadline hanging over your head. Rushed jobs became botched jobs. Thus his run through New City trying to evade the guards that followed him. He w…

Dalinar rested his quarterstaff against a weapons rack and turned to face the group gathered before him. "Right then, let's get started. No point in beating around the bush is there." "You're all Dedicated, and very shortly, you'll be experienced enough to earn the Dragon pin on your collars. So this, one of your final classes, is to teach you the art of combat with the One Power." "Unlike your previous classes, you aren't going to be attacking inanimate objects... This class will be about using the Power against another channeler. Shielding, cutting flows, attacking and defending. When you finish you will need to be ready to face a rogue channeler, a Darkfrie…

Ok, first off, I have to apologies for going AWAL for like two months now, just at the height of activity, but yea, gf, rl and all that stuff decided it wanted more of me, but im going to try and make a better commitment to be here for as much time until I go off into hiding with no internet for the summer. Um, Dali, sorry man, I know I said I would finish all of my class's, but I got side tracked. Could you all fill me in on what I have missed since I left? Promotions, events, deaths...

Alright people. Yes, this is one of those big important announcements that will affect the Black Tower and you all need to listen up so you don't miss out. Organisationally, not a lot will be changed. Asha'man are still Asha'man, Dedicated are still Dedicated, Soldiers are still Soldiers and so on and so on. Now, before people start asking questions and such, I have a new member to the Black Tower introduce you all to. *Steps back and allows Adawyn to present herself.* Yes folks, thats right, our newest memeber to the Black Tower is Adawyn Seriba, Covai Seriba's younger cousin. *Starts sharpening some throwing knives incase some soldiers get the wrong i…

The world as Aramina remembered it, was changing. The world always changed and as often as she tried to leave the White Tower, things managed to twist away and out of control. In most people the thought might have been frightening, but for Aramina, the world was what it was and the only thing she could do was try to influence events in her own favor. So far, it had worked. Her personal eyes and ears always kept her up to date and she had enough scattered in the world to make even a Blue Sister envious. Caemlyn was always good for news and as Aramina had made her way there she had come to pick up news for another as well, someone she might almost call a friend if…

If he had been asked, Aran would have said that he resented the entire business. He was sure there were many other Tower Guard that could have taken his place on the expedition, and he would have been more than happy to oblige. But Talyn had been instructed to provide ten Tower Guard from his company, a few of which had been specified by Vasya. Amongst the names of those specified, Rosheen had been singled out to lead the band. Aran was likewise singled out, though Aran was quite certain that was in particular due to the fact that Vasya, Ginae and the other officers wanted Aran as far away from Tar Valon as possible. So much so that it overrided their concern for the…

Sometimes the choice between visiting the Dreamscape or Tel’Aran’Rhiod was hard. Nyssa could spend night after night walking through the hallways of the White Tower, seeing the occasional flickering of a talented soul pass in and out of the Dream. Much could be learnt in the world of dreams. Wards did not keep her out of rooms that would be impossible to visit if she was there in person. And it got better. Nyssa had discovered that Aes Sedai were creatures of habit. Their rooms were structured, easy to sift through as she sought and found the secrets they kept. Still, a little thrill passed through her as she stepped into the room of Sirayn, Captain General of the…

The ghosts or what not of ancient mantheren will be among us fighting the last battle in the trolloc war that destroyed Matheren. We will all be seperated but realize other wolfkin are there and fight to find one another. Am I missing anything?

Orion sat int he same place that he always did, at the same time he always met his now Aes Sedai mentee. He felt akward teaching Aramina now that she was Aes Sedai having such a low opinion of them at the moment. Strange because she wouldn't be much different than when she was Accepted, hopefully. Orion set the two lathes that had been on his knees down next to him and reached over his shoulder to grasp the sword he had been given on his tenth nameday. He drew it slowly relishing the rasping sound of steel on leather. His other hand groped for a the small whetstone he had brought with him. His fingers closed around it and Orion began to slowly sharpen his sword. In hi…

Lavinya was restless, a feeling which consumed her often, of late. She needed to get out of the Tower, away from the haunted shadows that plagued her. But loathe to take a Tower Guard with her, it seemed she was trapped for the time being, her Ajah Head looking down on any sisters leaving on their own. She sighed as her navy skirts swished about her legs as she walked. Duty. Light, but she hated it. Irritated with her mood, she had set out towards the Warder's Yards, hoping to find a distraction from her thoughts for a time, watching the well formed men as they trained. The sun was bright over head, and already she was glad she had left the quiet coldness of her quar…

Now we start your weapon's training" Covai explained to Nakor as they arrived in front of the armory. Covai was back to the Tower, and back to training. What fun. But at least today he'd have a chance to hit someone. "Go inside, pick a weapon that you feel comfortable with. Dont pick it just cause it looks shiney. Pick something that you feel comfortable holding. Its a good sign the weapon matches you. Dont be afraid to give the weapon a few swings to get the feel of it, just make sure you dont knock anything over." "If you can't find anything, or simply have no idea, come back out. I've got a few ideas of weapons that you could match up with." Covai waited as N…

Hello boys and girls! That's right, I'm setting up a basic ettiquette class! This'll give you all an excuse to mingle with a few Novices (if I see any wandering hands I've already got an agreement with Silh that those people will earn a straight trip to her for a good hard spanking ). Lavinya made her way through the smoky throng in the tavern to a table tucked away at the back, offering some shelter and anonymity to those that would seek it. The hood of Lavinya's cloak was thrown back, revealing her delicate features and the fiery red curls that tumbled down her back like a river of flame. She was far too striking to disappear in a crowd, her great serpent ring and ageless appearance doing nothing to help her fade into the background. Still, that was how she generally preferred things. Sweeping off her cloak, Lavinya draped it over her chair before sitting elegantly, smoothing her silver silken skirts over her knees. She surveyed the room in sile…

You may have noticed that my sig changed lately to a link on my site. The link leads to a moderation and banning discussion. To summarise all of it, we made a plan, Jenn/Kathana felt it didn't bind her and did her own thing, and we discovered that there is no interest into holding to the procedure we made for the entire site so members got a fair chance. As a result, Owen's instructed us to inform all people RPing that while we'll continue to hold to the standard that we always have to give members a fair go, you can't expect the same on the comm boards. So if you're doing stuff over there, be sure to keep that in mind. I would say Fiddlesticks is an excepti…

Ooc: Done via IM. Late at night it might be but Sirayn was still fizzing with energy. A certain new project of hers held such promise that she did not grudge a moment of her time spent putting them into play. And tonight she had a new target for her schemes … a young Blue Sister, Estel Sedai. She liked to startle people by visiting them late in the evening; it had started some strange rumours, that was for certain, but the advantage she felt she gained from catching people off guard was worth it. Yet to her surprise, the woman who answered her knock looked less than her usual fiery self … in fact, one might call her pale and strained looking; as though she had her…

ooc: It's time for the fun to begin! ic: Maldrin, Rodrik, and Sana walked cheerfully through the streets of the greatest city on the mainland, heading towards the Golden Harp, and a night of drinking, gambling and carousing women. It was going to be fun. "So," Rodrik said as they approached the inn. "are we gonna stay here for a few drinks, and then go home? Or do you guys want to go someplace a little more ... what's the word? Exciting! I know a place where ou can get some and I haven't gotten any in a while. You guys game?" He waited for their answeres, and entered the inn. It was a half decent inn, complete with several round tables, surrounded by stiff-backe…

What can I say, I'm interested what you have to say on this, so a repost to this board was in order. ;) If you were to define your character, what would be some of the keywords? For instance, is your character a party animal or someone who likes to have a quiet night with a book. Is your character the type to lead a group of men and women, or the type to follow a leader and support the group. Is your character a strong arm or a tactical thinker? Is it important for your character to be involved with people, or is he/she a loner? Romance/Duty are those keywords for your character? In short, what diversity do we have in the Yards and especially for those of you who…

OOC: after we finish this class I will do the advanced offence defence calss Yet another class was to begin today, an array of Dedicated needing to learn the advanced manipulation of the power. Something that Ashrak had some little experience in. He smiled to himself as he ventured over to the training area, he told the Dedicated to meet him in a clearing well away from the Tower. Ashrak didn’t want any of the lovely buildings to be hurt, they had already rebuilt the inn more than it should have been, and Ashrak didn’t want his class burning it down. The sun was a bright fireball in the sky that reminded him of his early days in training when forming a ball…

Cail was bored. She had been back in the Tower for only few days, but she had already done all the normal procedures: she had checked the list of new books in the Library and arranged herself copies of the ones that interested her, spoken with the Mistress of Novices about potentially interesting girls and booked a few classes with them. No one had been Raised to the shawl since her last commission, so there was no real duties. Her imagination roamed free and she was open for ideas and inspiration. She was of a mind to paint today. It would be someone young this time, a trainee or a novice, maybe a fairly new novice since their faces still had that lovely roundness of chi…
