Introduce Yourself

If you're new to Dragonmount, stop in and introduce yourself!

  1. Started by Khestra,

Been lurking over at the old forum JUST as registration there got turned off, and have been waiting (not so) patiently until this new snazzy forum was configured. When I was younger I read up until book 8, then was derailed for several years, and actually started to pretend I hated the books because I had no more time to read them. Ugh, all the DETAILS about clothing, right?? But I decided to give it another go and re-read book one, and here I am a month later and I'm half-way through book seven again. So here I am, the type of fan that, when I realized Jordan had written a small prequel, made the sales person at Barnes and Nobel help me rip the shelves apa…

  3. Started by Ikkarus,

Well, what to say ? I am a returning member; I have been away since last year around this time. This is an entirely new profile, however. It is nice to be back; the people on this site are mostly friendly, in my experience here. But that is the ambiance created amongst any group that hold interests in common. I am not too much of a talker, but I think when I want to say something, it must be meaningful. English is my second language, but I have been speaking and writing it for some ten years now, so I think I have a very good hold of the language. I of course love The Wheel of Time series - I do not think I would be here if I did not - but I would say I love anything…

  4. Started by Khan,

Why hello there, I go by the name Khan. I've been looking at this forum and site since last week, but unfortunately I appeared to have chosen the wrong time to register, so I just browsed until the forums changed! I'm a WoT addict, they're my favourite book collection, with Robin Hobb close behind. I've currently just finished A Crown of Swords (as of last night), and thus am starting A Path of Daggers in anticipation of Book 13. Gotta say that my favourite 'good' character in the book is Rand (originial, right?) and my favourite 'evil' character is Demandred (even more original!). I think both characters are constructed wonderfully, and I hope Demandred's appearance an…

I just wanted to say it's great to be here. I'm very much looking forward to Towers of Midnight! In the meantime, it's great to have a place to satiate my WOT appetite.

  6. Started by ggourde,

Hello all, A dude down the hall from me during my freshman year in University made me read The Eye of the World and I became hooked instantly. That was in 1995. Currently I am living in Japan. Last year when The Gathering Storm was set to be released I dutifully pre-ordered it on Amazon. On the release day, there had been some kind of SNAFU and the book wouldn't get to me for about a month. So I scoured the bookstores all over the chiba-tokyo area till I found one about an hour away from where I lived. That was when I admitted that I have a slight addiction to the series.

  7. Started by FainsLeftFoot,

I have been enjoying my time here on the forums and while at work to pass the time I would browse the forums and have a laugh or two but could never reply from my phone. Now with DM8 I can login and post and all the bells and whistles so thanks! Foot

Post by: nojnomad on 24 August 2010, 03:08:47 I am a long time lurker (well maybe not ~4 years)... I am a tremendous fan of the series. One of those poor saps who will probably not be able to restrain myself from purchasing the new book for when it come oust in paperback... I have read the series as many times as the majority here as. I received the first 4 books as a gift and have reread the entire series every time I added a new book to the collection and a few more t…

I'm a computer technician by trade, but I don't have a web life, go figure. So, this is my first post, ever. Please don't tar and feather me, like they did in my other life. :'(

  10. Started by Solmyr,

Hey everyone, I've lurked around for quite some time and always was too busy to register (despite it taking <5mins). Recently tho some excessive flame against Min pushed me over the limit ... I first read WoT 5-6 years ago (took me a year for the first read). I borrowed the books from a friend who had the full collection so I don't actually own hard copies (yes, shame on me!), but I have downloaded the audio versions and re-listened them several times since. I travel a lot so standard books no longer do for me :/. Recently I started an office job so I have more forum time (:D), hence this introduction. I have also visited the aSoIaF forum for quite some time …

Hi, I am new and such... Ok, I admit it, I was registered here once, like a million years ago, but I quit, because the boards didn't load for me anymore after a couple of days. Now the wonderful Red HoA has recruted me to join here again :D A bit about me... I am 25 years old and from Germany. I study interior design, though I have tried some other things as well, like maths for instance. My brother claims I'll never be done with uni and I have stopped thwapping him for that :p Anyway, I am glad I am here ^^ If anyone has a question, ask away!

  12. Started by Gleeman Glen,

Hi all, I'm creating a gleeman persona, and I'm trying to gather materials to use. Any songs or stories or prophecies from the books, or the world of the books would be helpful.

I've been reading the series for about five years, I don't know how many re-reads I've done, this is probably at least my 5th one. Right now, I'm in the beginning of LoC. I used to be a member of wotmania, but slacked off a little between KoD and tGS. However, I'm now back and very interested in discussing things. One notable change during this re-read is that I've been much more interested in the AoL than I was previously. In any case, it's nice to be here.

Hi everybody, I used to be on the forums a lot back in 2004 or 2005 but when they transferred over to the new server and were down (I think?) for a while, I strayed away and after that just came back sporadically to check on any news. Anyways, just re-registered as I started my first re-read of The Gathering Storm in anticipation of ToM. So... howdy!

  21. Started by Snarf,

Hello, everyone! I've been lurking here for a few months solid now. Off and on over the last few years. I've been meaning to register and join in, and share some of my strange ideas, but I have been *coughlazycough* intimidated by quite a few of the in-depth posts. However, Dralid's new thread (already nine pages) is dragging me out of the Shadow. "No man may walk so long in the Shadow that he cannot be led back to the Light." So, I am looking forward to being a part of this WoT community. :D And, don't worry. I can take criticism. After all, I'm rarely right.

Now for a bit of information me as a reader and my opinions on The Wheel of Time. For the books I have read (The Main Ones): Some Star Wars Hobbit and Lord of the Rings Elantris A bunch of Bradbury A few of the Classics And of course The Wheel of Time What I think of The Wheel of Time. I first began the series in the fall of 2008, and since then I have rarely gone a month without wanting to read another Wheel of Time book. I had a weird start to the…

  24. Started by Marhault,

I see you, Dragonmount Forum. The recent topic following a first-read has brought me out of lurking and onto the boards. No other series compares to my first read of WoT; I'm on book 6 of my first re-read now. No chance I'll be done before Towers of Midnight but that just means I'll be looking forward to it for longer. I'm male, 27, and living in England. I've a couple of theories ready to be shot down too :)

  25. Started by Sigillium,
