Introduce Yourself

If you're new to Dragonmount, stop in and introduce yourself!

  1. Started by Fox,

I'm not really new to DM or Wot, but I've not been on in a long time (2009) and haven't read the series since AMoL came out. Started reading the series when I 15, and the series was only 6 books, it was 7 by the time I got to LoC. Been in few different Wot foruns since I started reading it, and even an email discussion group back in the old AOL days. Figured I introduce myself, say HI, since I'll be rereading the series for the first time in a long time, and will want to talk about it. So, Hello everybody!

  2. Started by Risyn_Mael,

Hello. ? I used to be a member here, many years ago, and I'm circling back around for another visit. My fondness for WoT never waned, but it's definitely going through a renaissance at the moment. Rereading the books for the first time in a few years (up to the first 100 pages of Winter's Heart, at the moment), and enjoying it immensely. Especially, since I know which parts I can safely skim... It's a little quieter here at Dragonmount than it used to be, perhaps, but still looks like a lot of wonderful people in community. Cheers! And I look forward to getting to know you all.

Hey there, It has been a while ^.^ I think that the last time I posted was back in 2018, sometimes. For the ones who don't know me, I signed up in DM in 2006. I have always loved this community, who became like a family for me. But now, I'm back at the start, I see that some changes were made and I guess I have a lot to learn and discover <3 For the others, ... surprise ... XD .... it's me again ... me as in "Chaelca" The change of handle is quite symbolic as I had dark times to go through during the previous two years but one thing is certain, I really missed you all and I can't wait to catch up with yous * b…

After years of hearing about The Wheel of Time with one my my closest friends, and being a huge fan of Brandon Sanderson (especially The Stormlight Archive) I suspended my entire reading list when my state went into social distancing (and stay-at-home) and decided that now is the time for this huge adventure. It's going well, to say the least! I'm clocking between 100-150 pages a day, and crossed the 350-page mark of Lord of Chaos this morning. With each successive volume, my interest, investment, and the time I spend thinking about the world, characters, and plots when I'm not reading increases. Aviendha is my favorite character thus far and I love the ove…

  5. Hi all, I am new to this and have to admit something straight at the beginning. I haven't read any wheel of time book (yet). The reason I joined was the ebook store was the hope to not have to buy from any of the big chains and then having to use their crappy readers. I'm a big fan of John Scalzi and FBReader and was hoping to support this community and store by buying "The last emperox" from the Dragonmount Store only then to find that apparently it's out of stock!! How can an ebook be out of stock??? Obviously disappointed as I'll have to get myself a pirated epub (don't have time and patience to to go and extract the epub file from any of the large commerci…

Long story short, I'm trying to make up for lost time by dedicating myself to things I used to love, like gaming (fine, it's more like trying not to die in a videogame for longer than 5 minutes, lol), reading, trying new stuff. I remember I loved this series as a teen, but never finished it, so I thought it was about time to start it all over again. I also enjoyed forums, so here I am! I'm not progressing too fast, but I'd love to continue my journey here.

  7. Started by Reniel,

Hello Dragonmount! I've long been an admirer of your site, since the early days, but hadn't yet joined. With all the new hype for the upcoming television show I thought it would be a good time to actually dip my big toe in the water and join the community! A little about myself - I'm American born but a naturalised Brit and live outside of London with my English fiancé. I've been in Covid-19 lockdown for 7 weeks (and counting), so looking for other things to get involved with; especially since I've been asked to stop baking. I'm interested in travel, photography, reading (duh), writing, board games, and whisky (especially a good single malt). …

Hi! I am absolutely obsessed with the Wheel of Time series and was ecstatic to find this community. I am currently halfway through book 13 and at the ridiculous rate I have been reading during quarantine, I am expecting to finish the series early next week. Thinking I might start a reread as soon as I finish hehe. Hope y'all are staying healthy!

Hi Drangonmounters! I am on the final straight to finishing the wheel and am looking for good chats exploring the intricacies of the WOT and recommendations for where to go once my journey comes to a sad but inevitable end. I have been eyeing up brendons series, has anyone got opinion on this and any other recommendtions. Thanks!

  11. Started by Theoban,

Hi there! I thought I would sign up and say hello, which I've done. I don't know how many times I've read through the series - fewer now that I'm an aged and withered old person - but me and the series have a long history together. I used to post on the now extremely defunct wotism site, even before it moved to a forum. Anyway, hello, hello, and again. Hello. This was awkward.

Hey all. I've just started reading WoT for the first time. The band of friends are about to leave Two Rivers for the first time... Is there a section of the forum for readalong discussions? Or can anyone point me to areas of interest that will be spoiler free? Looking forward to losing myself in this epic saga ?

Hi all, I started doing this WOT online stuff back at Silklantern, then PortalStones as Melisa Sedai and Ayrowa Kathan, among others. Now I'm here, and I'm not working for an extended period as most of us are at home, so here I am. How's everyone? --M

Greetings. New to Dragonmount and looking forward to the WoT series debuting soon. In the meantime I am listening to the complete audiobooks.

Hi everyone!! You’ve probably seen this question a million times but I’m midway through the first book in the WoT series and this far only the prologue has been good. I’m a huge fan of all Brandon Sanderson books out there especially in the cosmere. I started reading the book and expected pretty much from it, and the prologue definitely stood up to my expectations! But after that nothing really exciting happened in my opinion. Don’t get me wrong I really like the characters but the story isn’t going anywhere. Will the whole book be like this with nothing happening? I’m a big sucker for big epic fights and mind-blowing plot twists, so will the series deliver that? Does E…

  18. I am pleased to introduce myself as Asha’man Vincent Vinchova. As I was re-reading (as we do.) - I came across one of Mr. Jordan’s word/concept choices that I had breezed by, given my own interpretation/flavor to. But, I’ve become more used to pinning down this habit of mine. I think I hit gold. Winter’s Heart, Chap.23 Point of view: Shalon Context: She is flummoxed, and reduced to observing the Aes Sedai to find any social faults or information they could impart. Text: “Perhaps there was nothing in it that would help her, but if she had to pick oakum, the only way was to find a thread and pull.” Observation: While I had attached an interpre…

I am new to the community, though I have heard of it before, and finally decided to go ahead and join. I began reading the WoT books when I was in tenth grade, after I found The Eye of the World at random while I was in a bookstore with my mother. From there it blossomed into a love for the entire world Jordan created. Even though I was a male I dreamed of being an Aes Sedai, especially as I learned that males were once Aes Sedai in the past. I have still yet to finish the series, mostly because I used to be much less patient, and got tired of waiting for the new books to be released. Now that the series is completed I've actually purchased all of them for my Kindle and p…

Hi all, this is my first post. I have read the whole series twice and have just started The Eye of the world again just to be ready for the first Amazon season. One bit of trivia I would like to of those in the know. Captain Domon’s boat is named the Spray. Another famous boat to sailors was named the Spray and that was Joshua Slocum’s Spray. Does anyone know if Robert Jordan was a sailor and maybe he took the name from Slocum’s book Sailing Alone Around the World, or was it just coincidence?

Hi Everybody, I love the "Wheel of Time" series, I think it's every bit as good as Tolkien, maybe better. I've read every volume at least a dozen times, and I never get tired of it. I found some loose ends I would have liked to see wrapped up, but maybe I'm just unhappy to see it all end. Maybe someone will have mercy, and write an "Epilogue". Will the Tua'thon never find the song? How about Aviendha? The "Crystals" showed she had children by Rand, and what about Min? How many months between Rand and Min's tryst, and his fate at Shayol Gul? Tuan has to return to Seanchan, and secure her throne. The list goes on. One or two more volumes in the…

Hello everyone! I'm very excited to be on here and get acquainted. I'm on book 8, it feels weird for me to have only read one series for the last god knows how long... I absolutely adore the series and I'm glad to find this community before I finish it all. When I do finally finish I will be L O S T as I'm sure most of you felt as well. How does everyone feel about the series they're working on? I am curious as I haven't found very much on Amazon (originals) that I liked so I'm very intrigued.

Buenos Dias Y'all, from Fort Stinkin' Desert. That'd be the Valley of the Sun to thems that don't know. I'm old, in case yer' wonderin'. I joined up here just a couple weeks after Herself, (waitforit, she'll be along any time now, nudge nudge wink wink). But ...I joined the Band a couple weeks before her ... so I got that goin' for me. Pretty much a miscreant if truth be told and I have issues there, if one believes the rumours. I have no idea who's about this pop stand these days other than Herself and the ever lovely and gracious (that'll be a 'tener yer majesticness ? ) Elgee whose moniker I've seen tossed about as I've perused these 'intro' posts. I suspect there's …

Hey guys, Huge wot fan.... HUGE... one thing I've struggled with is the turning of the wheel. The story goes at the beginning of time the dark one was sealed in his prison and that prison is what was bored into the released his ability to touch the world. OK.... so does that make this battle the FIRST battle or just one story of the hundreds of battles. One of the forsaken claim that even Lew's Theron was a rebirth of the dragon before him. I would luv to talk or hear your guys thoughts on this as I think the vastness of this is to much for my small mind but imagine the stories and battles that took place during previous ages that are long forgotten!!! Greetings to the community. I have only recently registered due to issues that needed addressing | repairing so forgive me for being tardy. What an astoundingly wonderful community you guys have here and I am looking forward to everything that has been built by the fans of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time novels. Well, suffice to say it would be bad form to directly state: "I am...this or that..." but, well, hopefully truth can shed a light of it's own. Let us enjoy, build, and immerse in everything that this wonderful realm has given us in our lives together and look forward to the bright days to come. For eternity. ~The Sword of the Thousand Lakes

Greetings all. It's been more than 10 years since I actively roleplayed on here, thought I might pop back in and see how it's all going. A looooong time ago I was the Chosen Osan'gar and Mae'shadar Caladesh, up until I decided to kill off Caladesh in a spectacular fashion in the White Tower. Are the RP forums still around? I can't see them currently. How is everyone? What's been happening?

Guten Tag! Ich bin Juan Farstrider! Hi! I'm Juan Farstrider! Really (/s) I'm just finishing Crossroads of Twilight on my first read-through. Yes, I know that I risk stepping on a spoiler in this landmine field of spoilers, but I dig that they are only spoilers for people like me and not the vast majority here. My favorite main characters so far are Matt and Perrin and Egwene. I don't get the hate she seems to have, but she has put herself into a position where that can change with each choice she has to make. I don't want to leave out minor characters though, and though I only met him in one chapter so far, Furyke Karede has my interest. Oh and F…

Hello there, thought I would jump in and say hello, I am Maera (or April at home). I am currently on my first read through of wot (book eight at the moment). I have not been so captivated by something since childhood, very happy to be here. I was slightly disappointed it may be released on television before I complete the series (I had no idea it was being made). So am in a battle with time to have it read in time, but what an absolutely pleasurable battle it is. Would love to hear from other new readers to see how the series has affected you (and old readers of course, as I am sure you remember the feeling!) I think I knew I was always going to read the…
