Ok, I finally realized I do not know who this character is. In ACoS, chapter 20, he is observing Sammael and Graendal after they meet with Sevanna and her Shaido clan wisewomen. He sees black flecks which is the price for using the True Power. Later he rips a hole in the fabric withthe True Power and steps outside the Pattern. Is he channeling? So who is he?

Hi this is my first post so bear with me. I haven't reread the books for about a year and so I am a bit fuzzy on the details. But I have searched the forums and I couldn't find any discussion of the ornate mysterious sword that Rand is now "using" (lack of his hand is obviously affecting this). Does anyone have any thoughts as to the significance of this? I seem to remember a reference to it belonging to LTT. Anyways it would be interesting to hear your thoughts. Every description has been somewhat vague, even as to how he acquired it.

We all know that Rand is a Hero of the Horn, is it that Nynaeve is also a hero of the Horn. This thought only came across my head while re-reading The Shadow Rising, in chapter 52 "Need". When Nynaeve is talking to Birgette, she wonders how she knows her name. Ok Birgitte replies by saying that she had heard it and seen her before. But what if is possible that she is a hero of the Horn and Birgitte recognised her. Also who else would you say might be a Hero of the Horn and who might become a Hero of the Horn. I think that the following might be a Hero of the Horn: • Obviously Birgitte • Mat • Perrin • Moiraine • This one is a bit odd but could you have Elayne, …

I just wonder if it would be cool or if it would spoil anything if the series includes a dragon at the final match like the dreadlords final and most vissious weapon or if the sides of lights learn the existence of a kind hearted dragons, since the word dragon is used alot in the books, the animal dragon is pictured on flags, banners, tattoos, car'a'carns arms, swords, would it be strange if dragons could exists for real in tWoT world, the closest would be To'Raken who are more Wyvern like animals, what if the Dark One is a Dragon

There is one thing I have often wondered. I am not sure if it has any relevance, but I am unable to discard it. My question regards a prophecy from the Essanik Cycle, a Seanchan phrophecy. The prophecy has been fulfilled, completey. But one thing bothers me massively about this. "There he shall see again, and weep for what has been wrought". When Rand stood atop Dragonmount, this is what happened: I wonder if its a stupid question without consequence or significance., or a mistake (though I truly doubt it). Does anyone have any thoughts on wether or not it could mean anything?

I've been doing a re-read in preparation for AMoL and i've been trying to deduce how or why Ishamael was only partly sealed when Lews Therin and the companions made their strike at Shayol Ghul. Have we been told exactly how or why he was only partly sealed? It stands to reason that he was in a different situation than that of Balthamel and Aginor whom were said to have been sealed furthest away from the dark ones prison so were still effected by the ages passing to some extent. So what are everyone's theories on how Ishamael was only partially sealed, and how was it that he's been able to escape for a time on multiple occasions?

The more I read the early books, the more I think the Dark One took control over Ishamael. When Rand fought him in the Stone of Tear Ishamael shouted aid me and the black mist around him moved. Could this have been where the Dark One took control over Ishamaels body?

So, i bought New Spring a few days ago and finished it yesterday. I noticed something at the end that intrigued me, here's a quote to help you spark your memory. Diryk and the blacksmith both died at about the same time Mat and Perrin should have been born in Emonds Field. Were led to believe both were killed by the Black Ajah. Diryk survived a fall that should have killed him, and the blacksmith was carrying six or eight bags of silver he and his guild had raised for the poor to the bank by himself. The latter might refer to the fallen blacksmiths pride of the shadow prophecies, the fact that he didn't think to ask his friends to help him, or to hire guards. Tha…

HI, before I gleefully join the bandwagon of Egwene bashing did anyone ever explained what happened to true source at Ebou Dar during Rand's attack on Seanchan. Both Ashaman and Damanes claimed strangeness whike channeling or some such thing. please explain what happened or it is one of the unresolved things. I do not remember seeing anything in books or on the forums.

Hello- I am in a running/drinking group and most of the time we just run for fun. However, in about 3 weeks we are going to have a "Dress up as your favourite fantasy character" run. I was originally going to go as Perrin (i was rocking quiet the massive beard), but sans that, was thinking other other major WoT characters I could be with relative ease. That is the key part, relative ease. Are there already stores/ebayers that I can get, say, an asha'man coat (full), faux sword and "crown of blue and gold" if I wanted to be logan...do places sell "Large brimmed black hats, scarfs, and "my once nice pear of boots" if I wanted to be Mr. Cauton? I'm sure I'm not…

  14. Hello. This message is sponsored by... no one, since everyone is broke nowadays. It it time for the EMPYS! (actually, a bit past time >.>). We'd like to invite you to participate in this yearly site wide event and tell us who you think is the BEST in the year of 2011. As in every year, there are various categories that you can nominate for. Please help us give back to the site and honor it and its members. The Empys Board is now open. It is a child board under the General Discussion board. You can find the link here. The two stickied threads contain all the information you need to nominate (and more! since Tyn and I like to babble). If you ha…

  15. His blood shall spill on the rocks of Shayol Ghul. Could this line not be referring to Rand al'Thor himself at all but his children. Could Elayne go into labour during the final battle and give birth to Rand's children there? Ok I admit this theory is out there. But I guess one way to tell is to look at Elayne's pregnancy. How far along are we and how close are we getting to her being due? I'm new, be gentle

For those who haven't read past the dragon reborn, this post is a spoiler. I'm doing a re-read (which might count as a first read, but whatever) and I am at the start of The Shadow Rising. I am struggling with what Eliada's motivation is for wanting to dispose Suian. From what I understand she seems to believe in a narrow focused view of her Foretellings, and is convinced that Suian's actions are endangering them - she sights a Foretelling about Rand and one about Elayne. This doesn't make sense to me because if she were convinced in the certainty of her Foretellings, and of the prophecies, then wouldn't she understand that the Foretellings are the truth …

I picked up the 1st book in this series back in June 2011. Over about 8 months I've been immersed in these books and loved almost every minute of it. Now that I have to wait for book 14 I picked up another book last night but it was strange not reading WOT! I've stayed away from all forums until I was done because I don't like spoilers, so I'm glad that I can now read and discuss other peoples ideas about the books. It's been a fun 8 months!

Is Taim Moridin in disguise? This is discussed in many threads but I thought I'd try to combine the pro and con arguments I saw in various places. What do you all think? Update: I put a lot of arguments from this and similar threads into a separate blog post. Pro Bashere is doubtful that he is really Taim when Taim first shows up in LoC. Taim is extremely strong in the power. Logain can tell when Rand holds as much as he can handle after the attack on Algrin's manor in KoD so presumably Rand should be able to do the same with Taim. Taim knows how to test for channeling ability (LOC, Ch3). How could he possibly know that? Moridin and Taim are similar …

In the epilogue of TGS (p. 1066 in the paperback), Egwene is reading reports on the Black Ajah who fled the Tower after Egwene's ascension to the Amyrlin Seat. She distinctly says, "Each of the Black Ajah members on Verin's list had been seen healthy and alive following the Seanchan attack. But most had escaped before Egwene arrived at the Tower to take her seat." The number she gives is "some sixty Black sisters" (p. 1065). However, on p. 1067, it says that "Each woman on Verin's list was accounted for. She'd been executed, she'd been captured, she'd fled the White Tower the day of Egwene's ascension, she'd been taken by the Seanchan or she was out of the Tower at the mo…

Maybe the fiercest rivals in Randland. Which side would you choose and why? Do you like one city or culture more than the other? Or is one clearly superior when you look at their history? Will you always side with Siuan and Juilin? Or is Bayle Domon your guy? Was Tam right in joining Illian's army?

  26. Does it bother anyone else even a little that the most important conference in the history of the world and in the very last book be held at such never mentioned place? I have enjoyed so much of the post-KOD material in WOT, but I am slightly uncomfortable with a few things that seem a tad too LOTRy, Matrixy, or brand spanking NEW. Blood Knives, Dreamspikes, the "Field of Merrilor", 'Saidered', Every male character being Zorro with a sword now, ... lines like "The White Tower was DOOMED!!!"..."bloody ashes" This is NOT another "Writing Style of Brandon Vs Rj" topic, but more me just asking of my fellow readers: Are there things in these last books that sometim…

I'm doing a re-read and I think I have something. The Prophecies say something like "Twice dawns the day his blood is shed, Once for mourning once for his rebirth" (don't have the exact quote sorry). I've seen a lot of theories that think there's going to be some sort of time freeze or power surge that looks like a new dawn, but I disagree with those. I think it's just a twisting of the translation that gives us that wording. I don't think there's going to be a day that has two dawns, but rather two seperate days. The first was when Lews Therin created Dragonmount, and the second is when Rand get juxed over Falme. That's his mourning and re-birth and two dawns. That's wha…

There are Ogier Guards in the Seanchan army, so the Ogier must have interacted with them at some point in time. It might be possible that the Ways once connected the mainland to Seanchan. If the Ways go to Seanchan and the Trollocs are using the Ways then the Trollocs will probably invade Seanchan unless they think of it the way they do the Aiel Waste or the former city the Rand destroyed while cleansing the source. I tried searching this topic with no luck. Do you think the Ways go to Seanchan? Will the Trollocs go to Seanchan? If Seanchan has to deal with Trollocs, how will this affect Rand's need for their help at the Last Battle? Just curious.
