Alivia is supposed to play a vital role in Rand's "death"... But when I was re-reading ToM, Alivia wasn't mentioned once in the book . She wasn't with Rand or Cadsuane and Rand didnt even consider her when he thought about the 2 woman who would help him with Callandor. I couldn't help wondering where Alivia was during the entire book... Maybe Rand sent her on an errand or maybe i'm missing something... But this really seemed weird to me. So i ask again: Where is Alivia??!!!

Just been reading the thread on Setalle Anon and the speculation that she will help Tuon and the Seanchan, come to terms with the fact that people who can channel are not all monsters. And I thought idly that it would be better if Tuon learned what it was like at the crappy end of the leash, preferably controlled by a Forsaken. That got me thinking.(It happens sometimes, not often!)... Do the Forsaken still have designs for the Seanchan? We know Semirhage was well positioned before her capture and death, we know Graendal from her pov had started attaching strings to Tuon, before SH got a hold of her, is that significant? Is Graendal dead? Seems unlikely. Wit…

I just finished The Tower of Midnight and I have been pondering what will happen in the final book, and I think much of it will have to do with some of the themes of good, evil and morality found in the series so far. I am just making this thread for people to talk Good Evil and Morality in the series and how it might influence the ending The series is interesting in how it has pure evil incarnate and complex moral conundrums that many characters face. I will start it off by pointing out that the societies in WOT don't have religions institutions, no priest no temples... the closest thing to religious institutions in WoT are the children of the light and Messima…

Was just wondering about the WoT fanbases's favorite moments in the series thus far. Personally, one of mine is when Selene first shows up in the Great Hunt;there is something magical in those chapters in that book for me. Another for me is the prologue for Towers of Midnight when Zen Rand shows up:) Like i said, just curious:) Happy Reading

Ok, I've read through this series I don't know how many times, especially books 1-6. I just finished Book 5 and for the life of me, cannot figure out what Aviendha's real purpose is with Rand, what the Wise Ones wanted her to accomplish. Do they want her to make him fall in love with him/sleep with him? Do they really want her to teach him the Aiel ways fully, and make him as close to Aiel as possible? Do they really want her to spy on him? Or something else? I always figured they wanted her to have him fall in love with her, if they saw it in a dream or something. I've just never really been sure, and the Wise Ones talking to her after the Docks, just bef…

In Knife of Dreams, Satalle intimates to Matt that she was in the Tower and that she had been stilled. What role will she play? Who is she? If healed by Damer will she be powerful? Joline and Teslyn don't know her but knowing how stilling alters your features, was she stilled hundreds of years ago? recently? If this has been addressed please add a link to the discussion. Thanks

Well,as the title says, either the Three Oaths leave wiggle room for sarcasm(and I never knew it did),or Cadsuane is Black Ajah. Dont know if anyone commented on this before but on TGS Ch31 Cadsuane is talking to one of his informants in Bandar Eban, while questioning him for information conversation goes as follows: "There are Aiel in the city,Lady"Quillin said, scrubbing at an invisible spot on the tabletop. She gave him a flat stare."I hadn't noticed" I can fully appreciate the fact that she is being sarcastic, but as far as I know the Three Oaths dont care about sarcasm, just about talking the truth, and "I hadnt noticed"is pretty obviously not the truth. So whats up?RJ/…

Well we have seen min predict that Darlin the King of Tear will die in his sleep. I think this prediction relates to the world of dreams and that one of the shadow's many adherents will murder him in his sleep in the world of dreams. Maybe he will just be too good a king (establishing order) or maybe he interferes in their plans in some other way... but i predict he will be killed in his sleep in the world of dreams and i think it will be Moghedien or Slayer that do the deed. Anyone have any other ideas?

Quite new at posting guys but thought I would put this out there as I haven't seen this touched on at all. In Chapter 32 of TOM 'A Storm Of Light" we hear Rand say "In Maradon, I saw what had been done to men who followed me. I saw Light in them, Min. Defying the DO no matter the length of his shadow. We will live, that defiance said. We will love and we will hope. And I saw him trying so hard to destroy that. He knows that if he could break them, it would mean something. Something much more than Maradon. Breaking the spirit of men......he thirsts for that. He struck far harder than he otherwise would have because he wanted to break my spirit. And so I stood against …

Hey! As many of you, I am a huge fan of WoT, as well. While desperately waiting for 'A memory of Light', I decided to write a poem on Rand. Personally, I find Rand the best out of all the characters, though Mat is hilarious! So here it goes, hope you like it. I spent quite some time on the poem and I find it interesting. Here it goes: Bow before me world, For I am your only hope of salvation. Bow before me world, For I am the only hope for all nations. Born once in a thousand year, Callandor is mine, so is the Stone of Tear. The dawn I claim, claim i will the evening. Bow before me world, For I am the Lord of Morning. I am the king of myself, with none hig…

If an Aes Sedai swore an oath of fealty would that not actually loosen the grip of the Three Oaths? The First Oath is to "speak no word that is not true". So by swearing an oath, the truth of what an Aes Sedai said is simply the fact that she swears by it, rather than what she swears to. So if an Aes Sedai simply says "I will obey you," she must obey because it was said simply. But if she says "I swear to obey you," the Aes Sedai is free to be disloyal or disobey because she's only breaking the oath she swore.

This is something that has bugged me throughout my current re-read, which is: how exactly do people join the Shadow? Are there separate joining methods for the general public (i.e. to become a Darkfriend) and Aes Sedai (i.e. to join the Black Ajah)? I previously thought that they would all go to the Pit of Doom or Shadar Logoth, but they don't exactly fit logically - how would the person know who and where to contact?

I'm gonna keep this simple and just be blunt: Who are the five best Daes Dae'mar players in WOT? In the same vein as the Great Captains, I'd like to limit it to Light-side characters since 4000+ years of manipulation from Moridin is just too much to beat. My list is pretty straight forward: Thom Moiraine Egwene Rand Verin I'm including Verin post-death since I'm going full series, not current to ToM, but everyone can make their own judgement call on that. If not for Verin, I would probably go with Siuan, though that does feel like placing Egwene Jr. on the list. Thom and Moiraine are self-evident, I believe. They're easily the most dominant political…

I know there has been much discussion on Lanfear and the end of the last book, whether or not she is setting a trap for Rand, personally i think she is just being punished by moridin and is finally learning the truth about the dark one and ready to walk in the light again.

The Oath Rod was originally used for 'binding' criminals. The Oath Rod shortens the life of the channelers sworn on it. (Does it work on non-channelers?) Just what IS the original use of the thing? Just a guess, comparing to our age criminal justice system: Instead of a prison sentence in a cell for a stated length of time perhaps that length of lifespan was removed from the criminal's life expectancy. A six month jail term removing six months of life and reducing prison costs. Binder equivalent of the Three Oaths would be something like the following. Oath One: I swear to fully and truly confess all my crimes. (Criminal confesses all crimes.) Oath Tw…

So I was trying to figure it out the other day, and it seems like in order to even kinda make sense, Lews Therin and Lanfear would have to have been together for like a hundred years. I mean eh? Also why did Lews Therin and Ilyena have young kids in the prologue when it was the middle of a war and they'd been married for sixty years? They're never mentioned again. Does anyone know of some sort of AoL timeline or did RJ just not have this quite worked out?

I bought the entire WOT series a year ago in "E Book" format for my Kindle Device. I, like many, much prefer the new covers....Well, guess what? They are slowly going away and being replaced by the original done by Mr Sweet. Is that not CRAZY?? Anyone know what gives? I remember a rumor awhile back that the E Covers DID expire eventually and to get them back you had to buy the E Book again...I just assumed this rumor was nonsense. Guess I learned a lesson about assuming, lol!!! Fish

Im am haveing reacuring nightmares that AMoL wont be enoungh to fully complete WOT. Theres just so much that we need answers for, that cant be completed in a sentence or evan a paragraph. The book cant just end with And with the final battle done and won and he who died alive, they all get home and set about fixing the problem of who get Him monday and wensday and who gets him tuesdays and thursdays. I have full faith in BS but are my fears justified?! Yall better speak on this.....

Sorry if this has already been discussed but I had a thought. In TOM when Nynaeve tries to heal Rands madness she see's all the taint being held back by light. It's my opinion that this was the original intent for the EOTW. The Aes Sedai during the breaking realized that the Dragon would have to deal with the taint so they created the Eye to protect the future Dragon from some of the taint. Thoughts?

I see most people on these forums taking in this belief that Rand can now sense Darkfriends and call them out. This seems very illogical to me. I propose instead that Rand's merging with LTT has given him a clearer mind and more wisdom/insight... thus allowing him to realize that some of his followers have been Darkfriends. Since the book never states how Rand knew Weiramon was a darkfriend, I don't see why we need to jump to the conclusion that Rand now has a magical 6th sense. I'm prepared to admit my theory is wrong if someone can quote an official source saying otherwise, I haven't been following Brandon Sanderson's posts.

There is a lot of (understandable) worry about what Avi saw in her trip through the ''Way Forward Machine'' in Book 13. ... My quote actually comes from Book 12, Chapter 44 'Scents Unknown' when Corele Sedai grows overconfident about Team Light's chances in The Last Battle. The basis for her stance is Min's visions. Cadsuane Sedai brings Corele up short with this point that I feel is excellent: ''What this child sees are weavings in the pattern from a time still distant - but if the Dark One wins he will destroy the Pattern entirely. This is the only way the visions could fail to occur. The same holds for other prophecies and Foretellings. Our victory is by no means c…

Ever Since finishing TOM and going through withdrawl and starting my first Re-read[still a little soon but i cant help it]. I have been noticing things in movies, books, cartoons, and other random stuff with similarities to WOT. Lastnight after some Two-RiverS and a cup of brandy, it was late and I was going over old Venture Bros reruns. I couldnt help but see alot of Lan in Brock Samson..lol..Im crazy right, but regardless I think alot of stories and tales are influnenced by stories that the creators loved and cherished. It would be intresting to see the paths that helped mold authors and directers into the people that they are and therfore the people that they create. …

Please read this post before thinking why I am endorsing the Seanchan. When Seanchan came on Toman Head, it brought peace to the region. The people were scared because of the beasts, but that's alright. The rule was peaceful, everyone was allowed to do what he/she wants, wherever he/she wants to go, thieves, arsonists and murderers were given such judgement that the crime rate had gone down and the trade had started to prosper. In fact, in the end, people started to love them. The argument that Seanchan are aliens of the land is baseless; they are the legacy of Hawkwing who actually owns the world by right, unlike Andor, Tear etc nobles, who just want to play with gold.…

Ok, so Min states that Rand would fail without a woman dead and gone, which through various point such as Min's consideration of Caraline, and her repeated statements about her viewings about Moiraine having failed, it's made clear that the real vision was that Rand would fail without Moiraine, whom Min thought was dead and gone. In any case, this got me thinking--fail at what? The obvious answer is Tarmon Gai'don, and then it occurred to me that we actually have the inverse of that prophecy--specifically, Rand asks the Finns what he needs to do to succeed at Tarmon Gai'don, and they tell him that the 'north and east must be as one. The west and south must be as one. …

In on of the earlier books we see a large pack of darkhounds circling perrin's camp looking for someone that has eluded them for some time. we also get the opinion of a certain so called experienced Aes Sedai that it is an unusually large pack, the largest she has ever heard of (and her pov shows she is more experienced than most with darkhounds). Firstly who are the darkhounds hunting?? - my opion is Fain or Rand Secondly, why haven't we seen an update to this supposed hunt? i believe maybe this might be the big thing that sanderson is saying a lot of fans have missed!

after rand loses his left hand, he mourns the fact that he cant use the sword. my thought is, whats wrong with using a flow/weave of air, connected to the stump, in the shape of a hand, and have that as a substitute? then just make it so that no matter what he can manipulate that flow/weave, he has a perfect substitute for his missing hand. *CARNAGE* rbs out
