  1. Started by Ludo,

At first I was going to ask about how the peoples of the books could have the same language, and only really be dived by accent, customs and phrases. But through some digging I found a lot of question asked to RJ and well, my question was answered there rather sufficiently. This sent me thinking about other things, about when the language of the Age came into being during/after the Breaking. I recalled Rand's trip through the columns in Rhuidean in TSR. From what I understand of it, while Rand was seeing the history of the Aiel through the eyes of his ancestors, he was also hearing their thoughts at the time. So when it comes to the Bore being drilled, and the Aiel l…

So, the Last Battle approactheth, and Elayne is still pregnant. How far along is she? If she's still with child during the battle and having difficulty channeling, then will she just stay in Andor? With this battle in Caemlyn set up in ToM she may just have to stay behind, unless it's settled quickly. It would be a bit disappointing to me to have her not be involved in the LB at all, since it would be a waste of her powerful channeling abilities. But, Min said her babies would be born healthy, so if she IS still pregnant, does that mean the Dark One will therefore be defeated? He'd kind of have to be in order for there to still be a world for her to give birth in. …

Hey guys, Might have been discussed, I just haven't seen it. Will there be an early E Reader release for the Prologue and first chapter(s)of A Memory of Light? And also, I saw in a thread on this site that the expected release date is March 2012 for the full novel, where did that come from? Because that seems rather soon, not that I am complaining of course.

  4. I was re-reading Crown of Swords yesterday and have a question. Why wasn't Sammael ever re-incarnated by the Dark One (like the Gars were)? Sammael was killed by the misty stuff in Shadar Logoth (not balefire, right? I've never heard anything to indicate Mashadar killed someone "beyond recovery" like balefire does... It wasn't like Sammael wasn't doing a pretty good job (for a Forsaken). He was spreading Shaido chaos all over the place. So why didn't Sammael warrant a second chance?

So, I'm a Zelda freak, and when I first started reading the WoT books, I noticed that the aiel reminded me a lot of the gerudo: then as I was doing a replay of Ocarina of Time (Ocarina of Time... Wheel of Time... hmmm) and thought that the concept of the zora were kind of like the sea folk, since they are water oriented and what not. anyone else know of any other similarities? i mean, yeah, zelda is like elayne in a way and link is like rand.. malon could be like min.. gandandorf is the DO.. any others? :)

  7. In my re-read of TGH, Siuan stops Verin as she begins to say "The Great Lord of Darkness" instead of "The Dark One" in front of Moraine. They way she stops Verin, and that she is not shocked, seems suspicious to me. It's like she knew what Verin was going to say and stopped her from blundering in front of Moraine. Siuan isn't Black Ajah at the end, but it sounds like she found out what Verin was and has kept her secret.

"Light is held before the maw of infinite void, and all that he is can be seized." Is the secret that min is going to find is that callandor can be used to channel the true power? "He shall hold a blade of light in his hands, and the three shall be one." Does this mean that instead of 3 chanellers as one it is saidin, saidar, and the true power as one? This just occurred to me and I thought I would put it out there.

This series has been such a big part of life for a very long time!! I have no idea I how many rereads I have done over the years. I do know, i would love to thank Brandon for the large task and the way he has finished this series for us! I was real leary at 1st, but after reading his first crack the worries went away fast!!

When Rand and Egwene finally meets at the Field of Merrilor. I am curious as to who will side with Rand and who Egwene. The people that I am sure would be on Rand's side would be Nynaeve, Mat, Cadsuane and Min. The Clan Chiefs will side with Rand because he is the Caracarn and the Borderlanders because they know "He will break what He must break". The rest I am not so sure about: Aviendha? What would her vision lead her to do as far as siding with either of the two. What about the Wise Ones? They seemed troubled after Egwene told them about Rand's plan. Elayne seems to be preparing for a post-Rand world already. She has made a move on Cairhein and made an …

  11. My assumption about the end of the series is that Rand (imbued with LTT's memories, past mistakes and successes) will "kill" Shai'tan, in the broad sense of the word. Why not? He reversed the DO's touch on saidin, a touch which effected the entire, incomprehensible well of saidin, stretching the Choeden Kal *spelling* to their limits at the same time. These apparently had enough power to challenge and kill the DO (Thanks Lanfear), and possibly the Creator. If he was able to do that, is it not possible that he will find some way to destroy Shai'tan? I know he doesn't have the Choeden Kal anymore, but it's Rand guys, anything could happen. He'll change EVERYTHING, o…

I felt the need to make this post because for whatever reason I think it will be cathartic for me. Not because I think anyone would particularly care what I feel, but maybe someone can relate. Also this is a WoT site so if not here, where? I just finished the series and I feel like there is kind of an empty spot that had been filled of late by the world of WoT. My wife told me to stop it and just pick up another book like I always do. But for some reason I either can't or don't want to, or a combination of the two. This time through I enjoyed the immersion completely and miss the goings-on in the world I had been visiting nightly for the past month or so. Watchi…

I doubt it will be "with a kiss" but Rand IS a parallel of Jesus, and he was betrayed by someone close to him (I'm not too familiar w/ his other parallels but I remember the Arther legend also has betrayal). Many think he(Rand) WILL be betrayed which is a very strong possibility, maybe even a certainty, so who do you think will do it. In another thread, on the General WoT discussion board (here later part of pg 15,16), some have said Egwene will be the one, which is were I lean too. Some posters have shown strong pointers that this could happen, though I didn't see any in the mentioned thread other then the Arther legend but I know I've seen some in other threads. A…

Does anyone else think Lan's blademaster ranking might be just a little bit overrated??? Now bear with me, don't just read the title and go ape at me, read it, think about it and make a honest answer. Yes i've read how badass Lan is and i think he is awesome. Yes RJ and BS have told us he's number one, but the dude's like 50 years old now... Anyone who knows anything about fighting or any intense competitive sport knows that by that age in your career (or more like retirement) your reactions are a mere shadow of the past and after that many years of hard work, training and fighting your joints are worn and stiff and your injurys have accumulated... I've noticed on here that most on here seem to dismiss the Forsaken as bumbling idiots that are mostly useless and die too easily. I find that opinion to be quite wrong and I'm here to point out why. We'll take a look at each Forsaken and what s/he accomplished. Balthamel/Aran'gar: Was the most easily killed forsaken. Killed by a tree. Even with this he was brought back as a woman and infiltrated the rebels. Sowed distrust against men by killing Aes Sedai and was supposed to watch Egwene. Probably the least useful of the Forsaken (aside from Asmodean). Killed by Rand with Balefire. Aginor/Osan'gar: Killed by Rand with the Eye of the World. Not a ba…

  18. First off, there are a lot of details about this series I've forgotten over the years (especially since I bought KoD back when it first came out and never finished it until I started reading it over again a few months ago), but some of the details come back to me as I read, and most things and characters I don't recall very well I can look up on a wiki to refresh my memory. However, there are some things I've come across that I can't quite figure out. For example: In chapter 19 of TGS, Tuon and the Seanchan talk about the Aes Sedai having a weapon that left a bare patch of ground somewhere north of Ebou Dar. Is this a reference to them using the Bowl of Winds? …

One thing I have long been wondering is whether Mordeth had escaped from Shadar Logoth before he caught Padan Fain, since as I recall Moiraine had some detailed information about Mordeth being able to steal the bodies of those whom he lured beyond the walls. Has anyone ever asked in any of the interviews whether Mordeth had escaped Shadar Logoth before?

  21. Even the Chosen will admit that enough of these 'so called Aes Sedai' could be dangerous to them and that a shield of 13 Aes Sedai can not be broken. Heck Semmirhage's shield was held by what 2, 3 of these so called Aes Sedai (and not even notably strong ones to boot!). However Rand is now supposedly so strong that not even 2 circles of 13 could hold him. According to everything RJ has shown us before this is extremely contradictory to his channeling system. From the Age of Legends no one has been more powerful than UltraRand is now, why suddenly is this supposed to be believable? Ok, so he isn't insane any more, he doesn't hear LTT in his head and he doesn't have the…

I'm surprised that Elayne didn't make necessary plans to counter, though she didn't know where. I would have still thought she would have increased Tower Guard and Soldiers or did she?

Hi, This is my first post here. I have read all the books up to and including number 11, Knife of Dreams. I didn't get around to ordering book 12 when it came out so it has been alot of years since i last read Wheel of Time. What i wanted to ask is if there is anywhere i can read a quick summary of the books so i can get back into the story and start reading book 12. Don't feel like reading 1-11 again for the same reasen. Don't misunderstand me, i love the books but reading elleven books all over again t…

  26. One of the catchy things about the books, before reading them, is they're beautiful cover designs and often enchanting names. I know we shouldn't "judge a book by its cover," but I like to look at them. Also, discuss what you think the scene on each cover refers to, in context to its book. My favorite title was The Fires of Heaven. Other catchy titles include: The Eye of the World, Lord of Chaos, Crossroads of Twilight, The Towers of Midnight, and A Memory of Light. None of the titles suck, but those are the best (or most stand-out) titles. My favorite cover art design is definitely Lord of Chaos. It's absolutely beautiful. The Path of Daggers also has a radiant c…

Hello, my name is Scott. I'm a fantasy junkie. *pauses for everyone to say "Hi Scott"* I've been a fantasy junkie since I can remember seeing 'The Hobbit' way back in the 80's. I ventured into Dragonlance Chronicles: Dragons of Autumn Twilight by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman on abridged audio book. I can't exactly recall when I picked up the actual book but I do remember reading the trilogy. From there I eventually ran out of books to read (I'm insanely picky when it comes to reading books) and a friend introduced me to Drizzt Do'Urden via R.A. Salvatore. I read so much Forgotten Realms novels that I got burned out (Dark Elf Trilogy, Icewind Dale Trilogy, Cl…

At the end of Towers of Midnight Rand Sedai stumbles upon Cyndane in his dream. Obviously her face is different, but he recognizes her: From what I remember of the discussion on this, obviously pivot…

    Started by Guest Ticalc,

So I've been lurking quite a bit and want to share my speculations on what may happen in AMoL. I've only really been able to browse Dragonmount at work, so I apologize if this theory has been discussed elsewhere. In essence, my speculation is combining quite a few topics that I have seen discussed and combining them forming a cohesive theory. The main question my speculation seeks to answer is: can Rand kill the Dark One? So, to start from the beginning, when Lews Therin sealed the Dark One, a taint was placed on saidin when it was touched to the Dark One. This taint is the essence of the Dark One, a part of Him. Thus, when channeling saidin, a channeler channel…
