Enough things happen so that you'll want to know what happens.

If you're on the fence with book one I would still suggest trying out book two (The Great Hunt) before making any firm conclusions. Jordan's writing ability takes a leap forward with that book, in my opinion. If you don't enjoy book two, the series is probably not for you. That's not to say The Great Hunt is best of the series or that things don't start rolling later, but it's a long series and if you're not feeling it with tGH then I'd say you'd probably find it dull. While I LOVE The Wheel of Time and I hope you will too, it's certainly not for everyone.

Finally, finally I have finished book one. Awesome! My wife and I went to Sandals Negril in Jamaica for a week and I read for about 4 hours every day to break open the last 40% of the book. I am NOT disappointed. Even though it was a slow start I am so glad I saw it through til the end. On to book two!
