Hi All! I know that most of us are still pumped up about listening to Chapter 2 of ToM and won't probably care about this but I found it curious. So, I've been listening to EotW while traveling for work and something struck me. There's no Mat POV. That got me thinking, when exactly does Mat get his first POV. Well, it turns out it's not until Chapter 19 of tDR. This is right after Mat is healed from the SL dagger. Now, I'm curious if this was ever a question that was brought up to RJ or anyone? We get A LOT of secondary characters who get multiple POVs way before Mat. What's the reasoning for this? Is it as simple as Mat not having enough going on in …

I have always had the impression that the 100 companions did some work together with the seals. But really they couldn't have because they couldn't link. I don't think we have see cooperative weaves where more than one person make a weave better. So, what you have is a bunch of male channlers going to SG while 7 of them place the seals and the rest maybe shield the Forsaken and kill whats around. 100 seems like over kill though.

Hello everyone. Im new to the site and have been looking through the forums here for the answer to a question that concerns Rand al'Thor. Why does he get dizzy when he grabs hold of the one power? I've read the books a few times, and am in the process of doing it again in anticpation of the new book. And maybe i don't see it or haven't read it again yet but any guesses or just a simple answer would be great. Thanks everyone who answers. And thank you for welcoming me to this great community of fans.

Are we seeing a return to paganism and nature worship. I base this mostly aroudn the TR's and perrin I could see this working out in two ways, 1) perrin dies but in the process reveals his connection to wolves to his men or 2) someone notices him around a bunch of wolves or osme such one night and reveals his secret and either way I could see the people of the TRs showing respect and paying respects to wolves eventually morphing into a paganistic practice

what does everyone think the likelyhood of a NEW coffee table book, giving all the features and descriptions of Jordan's Wheel of Time series, is of coming out? I would love to see a redo of this book. Especially with the new books and everything that has happened since its original release.

  6. I was always under the assumption that all of the hero's of the horn were Ta'veren, but in a recent discussion it came to debate that they were or weren't infact Ta'veren. It seems that many Ta'veren are bound to the horn, Hawkwing, and The Dragon himself, but is it true that the rest are as well?

  7. I've been doing my re-read (now in aCoS), but this tidbit had bothered me, and I tried to look it up tonight and couldn't find an answer. Apologies if this has been brought up before. In tFoH, To Caemlyn, Nynaeve captures Moghedien in T'A'R, and after Moggy lets slip a comment about Rand, Nynaeve forces her to tell her about any threat to Rand, whereupon Moggy tells her Rand intends to attack Rahvin because he believes Rahvin killed Morgase. Now, Rand had only found out the day before, from Mat. I think the room was limited to Mat, Moiraine, Egwene, Aviendha, and Asmo when the news breaks in "News Comes to Cairhien." From Rand's PoV in the following chapter,…

Hey guys, Once upon a time, there was a WOT FAQ, that kept a list of where and who everyone was, along with current theory and arguments about some characters (for example, the possibility that a certain character might be a forsaken in disguise). Also, just before the last book came out, I somehow found a "where the heck is everyone" type summary. Anyone know if the FAQ is still around, or still up to date? If so, can someone point me that way? What about a summary? Anybody else remember that? Or know if it's getting done this time? And again, if the answer to both is yes, can you direct me? Thanks!

Brandon released a blog entry this evening with a tentative release date for A Memory of Light. The release date is now tentatively March 2012 due to another re-read of the series. Please see link/blog post below. Brandon's Blog Post All, Let's do a quick (okay, it's me, so it won't be quick) update to let everyone know what's going on here at Dragonsteel Entertainment HQ. (Also known as me sitting on a chair in my bedroom while my eight-month-old son throws half-eaten graham crackers at me.) Warning, this is another of my trademarked long and rambling blog posts. So, I've put in some arbitrary headings to help break things up and keep it focused. At t…

  13. Is Gawyn's intention to assassinate the Dragon Reborn the result of Compulsion? Let's look at brief summary of Gawyn's actions, starting after Siuan is deposed and stilled, and the battle in which Gawyn kills Hammar and Coulin. Gawyn first hears the rumour about deaths of Morgase and Elayne in LoC Prologue, from the peddler Mil Tesen. He recalls his oath: 'My blood shed before hers; my life given before hers.' The meaning of that oath had been explained to him by Gareth Bryne. He thinks that what the peddler told him was only a rumour, but that 'rumours on everyone's lips sometimes had a way of turning out true.' He promises himself that 'if they were dead, he wou…

I've read trough the entire series sevral times, and at the moment I'm rereading TGS to be ready for Tower of Midnight (not read anything of the pre-released stuff to stay unspoiled). About 4-5 books ago I started thinking about this theory, but never posted it anywhere. Did a quick search earlier today to see if the was PP but couldn't find anything on here. Some/most poeple think that The Creator is good, if you look at it like christianity he is God. While The Dark One is evil, like the Satan. While there is probobly good support for it in the books I don't really belive this to be true. I will post a little writeup of the background for my theory, then come with a…

So it occurs to me that Jordan went to great efforts to first see the Windfinders to Caemlyn, and then ensure they stayed there--even going so far as having Elayne not see that the Kin could link to restock Caemlyn until after Elayne was forced into a Bargain with the Atha'an Miere. So it led me to wonder... why? Was it just so that he'd have characters around who were strong enough to put a smack down on the Black Ajah? Could they have another role to play?

In ACoS, Chapter 10: Unseen Eyes, Egwene dreamt: Now, this didn't sound weird in and of itself. Not to me, at least. Egwene sees Rand as she knows him. Also, a point could be made that this isn't Rand at all - but a reference to his faking his own death or something. BUT (no, I don't mean The BUT), Austin Moore asks on Twitter: To which Brandon replied: So. What do you think this means?

Just idle musing, but have you ever wondered what other people, both real and fictional, might be considered Ta'veren outside of the Wheel of Time series? People who seem to shape events and other people in the world around them? Fictional examples off the top of my head would be the Skywalkers from Star Wars or Cloud from Final Fantasy VII. Real life examples might be William Wallace, or perhaps even someone like Steve Jobs from Apple. I'm not Mac fan but one cannot help but be amazed by anyone who can revolutionize and entire industry (if not the world) more than one time. He did it with the Apple II, and he did it again with the iPhone. So who else that you…

  21. Am I the only one to speculate on it's great significance and then sudden and seemingly complete departure from the plot line? I get that they felt they had to correct the weather... and they did. then it swung hard; from one extreme and then seemingly to another right? why aren't they busting this thing back out to keep a nice equilibrium? It just seemed like there would be more to it than that after a what... 2 or 3 book buildup to locating and then using this fancy and cherished piece of Aes Sedai equipment. Secondly, Nynaeve is always feeling events and the weather the same way these days... then we have the gathering storm, and the scary clouds and what not…

  23. I read the ''Disapointed in the Green Ajah'' thread. Really interesting. It got me thinking. It got me thinking about things that maybe Jordan just didn't have time to detail throughout the series, and perhaps, after strong early impressions, sorta got left dangling - or forgotten about. (The Eye of the World anyone??? - I mean the *actual* Eye itself). Lots of examples, sadly, fit this category, but, for some reason I find myself thinking more about Aes Sedai lately, as the end nears. Aes Sedai. Something Ive spent soooo much of the series being unimpressed and annoyed by. I think it has been Luckers - and others - recently talking about a sense of hoping th…

  24. Am I correct to assume that there were many many more Aes Sedai that went over to the shadow during the War of Power? There couldn't have been only thirteen. Hell, LTT had 100 male companions to help him seal the bore. The good guys were said to be losing when LTT and his 100 companions made their strike. So what happened to all the bad Aes Sedai?

Hi, So, I've been reading my way through WoT for the Nth time, this time on the commute to work using my iPad - I've just finished WH and went to buy CoT from the Amazon Kindle store and it was nowhere to be seen. Checking Amazon US, even they don't seem to have it currently. Amazon US do have KoD and confusingly Amazon UK do have tGS. Can someone confirm I'm not going insane/blind? From past experience with other authors the availability on Kindle can be a bit random at times - I've clicked on the "Please let me read this on Kindle" button for both. Does anyone have any suggestions as to who I could usefully email in the UK to query this? Thanks Gr…

I'm doing the annual series reread and a thought struck me at the beginning of LoC. Gawyn and the Younglings are waiting for the Shaido to meet with the Aes Sedai. A peddler arrives and brings rumours of Morgase and Elayne's death at the Dragon Reborn's hands. And Gawyn becomes set in his belief that Rand is the murderer. No questioning the rumour, just certainty which colours him from this point on. Could the peddler actually have been Fain? - Fain's powers would explain Gawyn's personality shift - Not a great description of the peddler given. Fain in disguise, but a description of his "big nose" would have made this a certainty.

I was just re-reading New Spring and I just noticed that Jordan snuck a young Weiramon into the book. I've read it many times before but never noticed before. He in the first chapter, he is a messenger coming to ask for Lan's assistance with an attack. Did anybody else notice this. I want to re-read The Shadow Rising again to see if there was an instance where Weiramon and Lan were in the same room. Lan clearly did not think much of him in New Spring.

So right, we know RJ had them in mind by the time the very first Prologue was written. He had the end. Considering this first Prologue may be one of the best chapters of the series, we can assume this final Epilogue will be just as grand (we sure hope for it). But what's in it? What do you think will be in it? I wonder, and I wonder whether it was all written down to the last single word, or if Brandon and/or Harriet might have to write a bit of it or make some little adjustments, corrections to match all the current development (the story has evolved since the 3 booked initial adventure). Here's my try: "He sat on the throne, contemplating what lay ahead…
