  1. Started by Hybrid,

In TDR, Chapter 9, Perrin runs across a mystery guy in the Wolf Dream (who then has a bad run in with some shadows): I only bring this up because I ran across it in a recent reread, and I've seen people propose that he's a Sharan. I disagree. Contrast with the fellow from KOD, who is almost certainly a Sharan: Notice the differences in accent and style of dress. The Sharan has a musical accent, speaks haltingly, and has a white coat without collar or lapels. The man from TDR has a quick and sharp accent and a bright yellow coat which flares over his hips. Of course, Shara is a big place, so there could be many different styles of dress. The differe…

The polls are all done, if you haven't voted in any of them you better do so quickly. On Sunday, April 9, the finals will begin. The tenth poll question is Who is your favorite foreigner? note: Loial isnt really a foreigner to Randland, but Ogier are seperate societies, and I havent been able to place him in a poll question yet, so I made this one specifically to put him in, and some more of the Aiel which have been under represented (Aviendha). Poll 1: Who is your favorite Forsaken Poll 2: Who is your favorite Military Leader Poll 3: Who is your favorite Aes Sedai Poll 4: Who is your favorite Land Ruler Poll 5: Who is your favorite Post…

I was taking a look at some of Min's viewings and I had to wonder about this one from COT: "And there's something... dark... in the images I saw around Lord Davram." What do you think? Is Davram Bashere truly serving the light? Does he have Rand's best interest in mind? What could Min's viewing mean?

  6. Started by Naffy,

I am re-reading TSR and just finished "The Stone Stands." I know that it is definitively known who sent the attack and who sent the shadowspawn to defend Rand (Sammael - attack?, Semirhage - defend?) I was hoping someone could verify my memory of who did what and could point me to where in the series we find out.

  7. My guess is no, because we all know Balefire burns the "threads" of the pattern away, as if they didnt exist (at least from one point in time) Now if i use this quote So if we take this quote as true, that means the Dark One could not technically be "burnt out" of the Pattern because he is not IN the Pattern. Anyway, it seems straight forward to me, but I am not sure if there is anything to suggest otherwise. Thoughts?

  8. A sequel to my question on the subject for TGS. http://forums.dragonmount.com/index.php/topic,41856.0.html How do you guys see things going with The Band of the Red Hand? We now know that The Band will be reunited and in the vicinity of Caemlyn. Will they set up camp at the old Legion of the Dragon site south of the city? It's the most logical place to set up, but wouldn't that just make them sitting ducks when the Black Tower conflict occurs? The camp is right next to the BT complex. Maybe they'll camp in one of the old siege camps instead. Are the House armies still concentrated around Caemlyn? I would assume so, so there's likely to be tension betwe…

I believe that RJ said that men slow too (though I can't find it now and I might be wrong) but is it possible that the slowing is different than men than it is in women? I don't have all of my books next to me, but I was reading CoT and something struck out at me: pg. 265 paperback "A stocky fellow with a weathered face already beginning to show creases, though he was short of his middle years yet, Grady looked ..." That seems to indicate he looks older than his years, which is not at all in line with what female Aes Sedai look like. Even those who have seen much don't seem to age as Grady has. All by itself, that might not have struck out at me, but…

Re-reading TSR, I keep thinking of questions that I want answered, but this one was big enough to post: When Perrin is trying to send Faile away to send a message to Queen Morgase, then Faile very awkwardly asks Perrin to marry her... Well, I got the feeling that Faile wasn't at all doing it for love as Perrin did. It seemed to me like she knew how things might play out in Emond's Field (ie. Perrin possibly not surviving) and it seemed to me like her desire to marry him was much more political than anything else. Did anybody else get this same vibe? Imagine if she became the wife to Lord Perrin Goldeneyes of Manetheren just before he bites the dust, lea…

Did any one get a "really good" picture of the portrait of this from JordanCon...Would really like to see this on the new site here...Just seems appropriate with the "new" header of this site, and Brandon doing such a great job at carrying on the work for us fans...Would give everyone that hasn't seen it a chance to view such a "Fan"-tastic" revelation for us...Just a thought

I guess this is it... The place where we finally make a judgement call and say how we think it will all end. Well, let me post the first "loony" theory of Dragonmount 7.0... I think this turning of the wheel is special, or at least, what we've grown to believe is wrong. I think in this turning, the Creator takes a direct hand in keeping the world alive. Now, pulling from the return of Jafar, Iago says several times 'You'd be surprised what you can live through". The world will not be right after the last battle. Humanity will be dying, struggling to hold on to that one tuft of grass. But humanity will survive, and continue to push onward. Will Rand…

Hi guys, just a thought, we've seen channelers from pretty much everywhere. My question is, how come we'ven't seen an Aiel male channeler? Obviously, they don't have to go to the Blight anymore, but you would think with that whole bunch of them in the Wetlands some would come forward. True, all of those are warriors and most probably not interested in channeling, but I would think one or two would have the spark. And what about those back in the Waste? And how dangerous would be a an Aiel warrior who can channel? Aiel are deadly, so are Asha'man in their own way, so a combination... Any thought?

If Egwene is a Dreamer and can walk the wold of dreams at will, does that mean at least a few of the Chosen are aswell? I am sure most of them travel there as Rand does, but I think Moghedien and Lan'fear could be actual dreamers. What kind of true dreams are they having? I think I would like to hear about some of them. We see alot of the prophecies of light, but not many of the shadow.

  19. At the moment the board is geared towards the pre-release material, and there will be specific discussion on plots and characters from the pre-release material. My concern is that when the book is release, because we will not be creating specific threads at first, people might without thinking look to discuss the full book implications of a plot or character in a thread meant only for pre-release spoilers. My initial thought was to lock those threads for a time, but I understand that there are many people who cannot get the book immediately upon its release and will want to continue discussing the pre-release material. To that effect when the book comes out I will cre…

  20. Started by Luckers,

I am SO bored at work, and I haven't seen this discussed in a while, so I figured I'd throw it out there again. Here's what I think. The Seanchan will retain what they've taken, and probably take Arad Domon as well. I reckon Fortuona will place Interulde in charge of Arad Domon, and he'll give her his loyalty for bringing peace and order back to the nation after Rand so failed him. The Seanchan will be the Western Coast Nation. Elayne will take Cairhein--and I'm thinking possibly Murandy as well, given I think Rhoedan is under Demandred's thumb, and therefore will need to be removed. This will be the Central Nation. It will probably over time roll up to include…

  21. Started by FainsLeftFoot,

I have been trying to re-read the chapters to find out where good ol Fain is located right now. The last location I could figure out is some sort of Inn in Ceamlyn. This got me thinking, is it possible there are hints to what HE has been up to? 1) Amys speaks of a evil in Tanchcio, could that be a little bit of Fains work? 2) There was mention by Elaida of the wards failing in Tar Valon, do the wards protect against his kind of evil? Maybe this all has been discussed before but I thought it might be fun to figure out where he is, or where he has been during the Randlanders adventures. Foot.

  22. Is it mentioned anywhere in the books that it is common knowledge to the forsaken that asmodean is dead? Because if it is not, what do you think this means? In the TGS prologue there is the scene where Graendal is watching the meeting b/w demandred, mesaana, and moridin. At one point in her POV she mentions how frustrated she is that she doesn't know what demandred is up to and she thinks " She pretty much knew the plans of the other seven remaining forsaken" If you count there are at that time Moridin, Demandred, Ara'ngar, Mesaana, Moghedien, Cyndane, Semirhage and of course Graendal makes eight. So if it isn't common knowledge that asmodean is dead doesn't …

Hi all, Part-time lurker here. I'm not going to go to the effort of fleshing out a full theory, but I haven't seen this anywhere: In Rand's trip back through his ancestor's eyes, one of his ancestor's says that he (paraphrasing) was, "in the prime of his life, just 60 years old". That ancestor was a Da'shain Aiel, and therefore not a channeler. While perhaps the Dark One's touch could've shortened non-channelers lives, I haven't seen this anywhere. Nor have I seen a reference, anywhere else in the series, to non-channelers living shorter lives....plenty of talk about channelers limiting themselves via the three oaths of course. So my theory is this, ve…

  25. Started by ashaman kingpin,

I reread parts of the Gathering Storm today and read specifically Rand's epiphany on Dragonmount that Lews Therin's voice was never real. But it seems like Rand formed that alter personality because he was unable to come to terms with what Lews Therin, or better yet himself, did during the Age of Legends to his family and the breaking of the world etc. So that seams like a defense mechanism specific to Rand, the Dragon. If that is the case, then how did Cadsuane surmise that Rand was hearing voices in his head? Was that a sign of madness caused by the taint? Yah!! Been coming to this board forever but this is my first post.

Took me a LONG TIME to forgive Avi, Min and Birgitte. 2 Rand not being able to take down Lanfear inorder to save Moiraine in FOH because he didn't want to hurt a ''woman.'' 3 Faile...pretty much anytime she moved or spoke in Book 4/TSR. 4 What Nynaeve did to Lan in book 11/The Golden Crane - even though I understood and I adore Nyn. 5 **************The Way Dark Phoenix Rand treated POOR HURIN in TGS :(((((((((((((( 6 Any of the main characters for failing to figure out INSERT JUST ABOUT ANYTHING HERE when it i…

I started this to see who you would most like to see apologize to whom, please explain why also, and keep it to one pair of people to make posts shorter! I think that Rand needs to apologize to Rhuarc the most in the entire series. Rhuarc has been a close friend and advisor, respectful and treating him as an equal and great respect. But rand has treated him and aiel as a hammer to hit the enemy with without consequence, disrespecting them and so on.

  28. I just started reading "The Gathering Storm" and I have found even in the prologue, that the difference between Sanderson's and Rj'S writing styles is obvious. Even though Sanderson has his own style, he seems to sincerly wish to keep the final three books as faithful to RJ's vision as possible. The fact that Sanderson was a fan of the series and idolized RJ made him a perfect choice to finish the series.

Here Mine: 1 Rand always wishing Mat and Perrin were with him to teach him how to talk to girls...Mat always wishing Rand and Perrin were with him to teach him how to talk to girls...Perrin always wishing Rand and Mat were with him to teach him how to talk to girls........I know this got overplayed early on, but I always loved it, lol. 2 This one was more confined to one book (The Great Hunt), but it still makes me laugh: When, through a series of ''Misunderstandings'' Perrin and Mat keep stumbling onto Rand in situations where it looks to them like Rand really IS becoming a Pompous A$$ - LOL! 3 Perrin struggling so long to get people to stop calling …

If so please share them here!! Ok its your turn everyone
