I asked Brandon this today: "I was wondering what sort of size the prologue is? Similar to tGS? Longer? Shorter?" His answer: Longer. Exciting. Who do you think will be in it? I'm thinking... Pevara/Faolain/Myrelle--someone at the Black Tower. You get the idea. Harine. Elaida--Getting captured from her perspective (ok, this is a reach, I know. I just wanna see it). Definately something from Seanchan. Seonid--someone from Perrin's camp at least, but not Perrin. Elayne--watching Mat arrive in Caemlyn. Possibly Verin.

the Second Age was known as the Age of Legends, and the third Age known as the Age of Prophecy. but is there a defining moment when an age ends, and a new one begins? Or does it jjust merge, like say, a millennium for us?

Hello, This post went wrong, should be here instead of "General discussion". I would like ask you of the absence of most of the clans since the LoC. In this book a lot of the spears (unclear which clans) went south for the invasion of Illian. In ACoS four clans whent north to meet the Shaido (Miagoma was one, the rest I dont know). The Goshien stayed in Camelyn until KoD and went with the Goshien to Arad Doman where they still are as far I as can tell. Where are all of the other clans ? In Tear, Illian, Cairien ? In ToM I would like to see some sort of reunion of the clans to one place, I think it strange that the clans hasn´t been mentioned m…

Min's viewing of Cadsuane said that he could teach him something important to Rand and if he hadn't banished her she would never have sent Tam to him in an attempt to change his general view on the world and what needed to be done. Which wouldn't have led Rand to change his view on how angry/alone he had to be in order to fulfill the prophecies.

What's In The Future For Graendal? We know from Brandon that there will at least be mentions of Graendal in ToM. Given the unfulfilled aspect of the mission Moridin gives her in the tGS prologue we should perhaps have expected that anyway. So in this thread I'll try and cover how she might affect the future story. I'll start by covering the question of whether she survived, and then move on to the ways in which she might (dead or alive) play a part. Did Graendal Die? Given we never saw a body, and Brandon refused to confirm whether or not she died, it was expectable that people would start theorising about her potentially living--but is there any …

I just wondering if Rand and LTT are diffetent than the past CoL. I mean, maybe the reason for being born twice is because this turning is actually different. Maybe this is rezlly the final turning and the DO will be freed. I would actually not be supprised. I think that the Dark one will be released and not only the world, but the wheel of time itself will be broken... The winner of TG will remake the world as he sees fit....if the DO wins, it will be a world of desease, hunger, and darkness and all forms of evil.. If Rand wins, the creator will give him the power to banish all evil from the world...`there will be no crime, disease, war, ect...…

I started a re-read of the series early Summer of last year with a promise that I'd buy myself The Gathering Storm for Christmas. Well, it has taken me until now to finish each book in detail. I promised myself I'd read every last word before I started TGS. I pick up my copy of TGS tonight, and I'm finally getting to read it. :)

I have read a fair few posts and i get the impression that alot of people dont like Elayne to put it mildly, i read alot of 'she needs to die!' sort of thing. I think im in a pretty small minority here because i actually thinks shes quite endearing. yeah she dose some pretty foolish stuff and she takes some pretty foolish chances but her heart is in the right place. And its not like she is the only female character in the book to be completly ungreatful for a rescue or some help so why here and not Egwene, Nynaeve or basically anyone in the white tower there all like that tbh. So i want to know specifically why Elayne is more hated that anyone apart from maybe Faile? …

I know I have seen speculation that the Ways may have been cleasend now that Sadin is clean. Those I believe have mostly been shot down. However, I would like to make the argument that Sadin was never the source of the taint in the first place. 1) The Taint is described as an oily film on the surface of Sadin. Sadin itself is clean. But in order to use it you must reach through the taint to get to it. No where do we see weaves do odd things because of the taint. The weaves do what they should; the user is the one that is corupted. 2) The ways themselves were fine for over a thousand years. The ways didn't start to decline until after the creation of …

Hey all. Just re-reading Winters Heart today, and I got a thought that I am sure has come up in the past. What would happen if say, Aloisia, the oldest of the Kin at over 600 years old, were to swear on the Oath Rod? Would she drop dead, as Elayne suggests, or would she just live on, and then die shortly after. Just curious, because I am trying to find a reason to Egwenes decision to keep the 3 Oathes. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Egwene, especially the last 4 books, but i think her idea to keep the oathes is ludicrous.

Brandon comments that there is something that begins in books 4-6 that went completely unnoticed by fans as far as he can tell, which is a big deal--bigger than the death of Asmodean. Though it first appeared in books 4-6 it has been mentioned in later books. Or rather it has 'continued' in later books. Here are his words on it. So. This rules out it being the fat man angreal. In fact it kinda puts the crimp on this being an object of any time. 'It's been going for a long time' seems to imply that this overlooked thing is an event, or an effect. My first thought was the Dark One's influence, perhaps especially in the way it continues without any problems fr…

I'm on tPoD right now and reading about the Kin escaping from the Seanchan. And a thought just occured to me, how exactly does the age thing work for the women who aren't Aes Sedai? Do you have to constantly be touching Saidar for x amount of years to live for however long. Or like some of the Kin, fairly weak in the power, not touching it so much, but still live to be much older than Aes Sedai? I know the oath rod is the factor with Aes Sedai, but I guess my main question is, if you touch Saidar, and haven't sworn on the oath rod, will you automatically live for quite a long time?

Ive been thinking about it. My opinion, after reflection, is: Yes, in my opinion, Rand was too hard on Cadsuane after ''The Last That Could Be Done'' in Book 12. Elza was only able to steal the Domination Band because Shaidar Haran ''loaned'' her the ability to do that. SH is an avatar of The DARK ONE Himself!!! No one would have been able to prevent anyone from stealing the Dominiation Band. ... Cadsuabe Sedai did her best. She had incredible Wards Woven around the wooden box it was being kept in. Rand's tirade bordered on verbally abusive. It wasn't her fault and she had worked for The Light for more years than Rand has been alive. And how many time…

Hello, I am unsure if these is a thread for this but I did not find any in my somewhat brief search. Anyways, I am just wondering about the Black Ajah exhibiting an ageless face. When they swear to the Dark Lord, are they released from the three oaths? if they are, shouldn't they lose the ageless features of the bound Aes Sedai? Is the ageless face feature permanent once you swear on the binding rod? I find no description of the various known BA having aged or anything so I assume none of the Aes Sedai picked up on that clue if indeed a BA loses the ageless feature once she has sworn to the Dark Lord.

I haven't been able to find these questions out. Was LTT ta'veren? I have never seen it mentioned whether he was or not. Since we know nothing of his age's prophecies... how much did LTT know of his role within the Pattern? It would seem odd someone of his stature had no prophecies with him. But I assume he didn't know like Rand knows his destiny and effect on the pattern. That LTT was just a man doing his best to fight the DO.

I heard somebody mentioning that "Rand tried to clense the source, but failed." This weekend, and I was like, "Unless I just missed something, he was quite successful. There are several Ashaman POV's that state the source is clean." But I figured if anybody would know differently it would be you guys. lol

Hi. So, I'm not really a forum-guy, so if this has been brought up earlier, I apologize, but I couldn't seem to find it. KoD, ch 15; Aviendha and Elayne have just discovered the formers ability to, as Elayne words it, "read ter'angreal". Then comes this passage: "A stone carving the size of her hand, all deep blue curves—it felt like stone, at least, though somehow it did not really look carved— was for growing something. Not plants. It made her think of holes, only they were not exactly holes. And she did not believe anyone had to channel to make it work. Only sing the right song! Some ter'angreal did not require channeling, but really! Singing…

All right, so this topic is kind of irrelevant, but whatever, sue me... OK, i know that WOT is for the most part PG-13, and in fact, when I first read TFoH (around age 13), I totally missed what happened between Rand and Aviendha in the far snows of Seanchan (funnily enough, on my first re-read at age 15, i totally went what the f***?...no pun intended ;) ) My question is this, it's pretty evident that Aviendha will get pregnant in TOM of AMoL, and having read all of Brandon's other books (except Alcatraz for obvious reasons ;D), I'm a little worried about his experience writing intimate scenes. Judging by the rest of WOT, there will probably be such a scene, and I…

Ok, on my recent serious attempt in the chapter name game I dedicated a chapter to Graendal called 'A Darkness in Caemlyn'. I wanted to expand on why I did so... and it begins in tGS when Moridin instructed Graendal to hurt Rand emotionally. "He must know pain of heart. He must know frustration, and he must know anguish. Bring these to him." Min is as protected as Rand, and I think Graendal may go after Aviendha as well, but my main thought at this moment is Elayne. Their canoodling in the Stone did not go unnoticed and Elayne recently had Meller, her supposed baby daddy, arrested. And Meller told the shadow he was not the children's father. Graendal seems to me to b…

Up till now these two ta'veren have had it relatively easy , compared to Rand, when dealing with Forsaken and Darkfriends. This seems to have changed since Knife of Dreams. In which both Mat and Perrin suffer attempts on their lives by darkfriends. Also in Gathering Storm, Verin claims that Perrin and Mat and now in greater danger than ever before. So we know that Mat is heading to the Tower of Genji and Perrin will be doing something with the wolf inside and ghosts from his past but how will the Forsaken and Darkfriends harass them? It seems like it might be something new or something that has only recently set in motion from the way Verin was talking. So we co…

So as to not Hijack the previous thread, I would like to start a discussion on what sort of character will Rand be now. I would like to read what most of you all think on this. I believe Rand will return to the pre-LoC Rand, or atleast, lessen the hardness around the edges. I think most of Rands coldness post LoC was because of LTT instead of himself. The voice of reason which kept tickling his mind was himself, and the one mostly incharge of his actions/thoughts was LTT. Tell me what you think.

"The North and the East must be as one. The South and the West must be as one.". Rand, and most people here, believe that the North and East refer to lands allied with Rand, whilst the South and West refer to lands conquered by the Seanchan. BUT, it doesn't fit with how the lands are at the moment. Given how the lands are bound by that prophecy, the only division that matters is a division that goes roughly from the NW to the SE. One problem with this though is Ghealdan - it is surrounded by Seanchan, yet is held by Rand (if indirectly). No matter where you draw the line Ghealdan will have to become Seanchan controlled for the prophecy to make sense. …
