Disclaimer: I like Egwene, but even so some things grate on me. Egwene has many many skeletons in the closet, some of which may warrant execution. Let's list the reasons why. 1) She obtained fealty from several people. She said that Elaida wanting an Oath for the same thing is wrong. 2) Her reign is at least partly based on the lie that the Red's set up Logain. 3) She knowingly broke Tower Law by hiding Moghedian from the Hall. 4) She knowingly did not report Sisters giving each other fourth oaths of obedience (much like number 1) 5) She knowingly has kept the highly unconventional passing of Lan's bond secret. Boy, she sure does seem to have s…

Does anyone else think that, before the final battle, Siuan and Leane will be fully healed of their stilling? I understand that the stilling was a major character development point for them, but wouldn't it be better for the good guys if these two were at full strength. My guess is that they'd have to be stilled again before they could be healed by a man, but maybe that's not true, and Damer (or someone else) can just complete the imperfect healing that Nynaeve did.

He doesn't come out and say it, but it does seem Brandon's pointing us away from the 'I'm not a Darkfriend, I be CHOSEN' explanation of how Mesaana overcame the Oaths. So that's what this thread is for--ideas on how one might overcome the oaths. Feel free to go as wild outside the box as you want. Here are my thoughts. The first issue is this--binders were used with great effectiveness during the Age of Legends, and Semirhage and Balthemel both feared being bound, so that combined with that Brandon's told us to start thinking about it suggests to me that its not as simple as Mesaana weaving around her an inverted anti-Oath weave or something. Now the Blacks…

This is something I have wondered at. Does the Dragon (Rand) need to be a man? I do not mean by this question as to whether there could be female Dragons. What I mean here is.. why do Cadsuane and others assume that Rand needs to learn to laugh and cry again, in otherwards, to feel again? Why does the Dragon need to be aware of these emotions to do what must be done? Verin warned Egwene that she fears Rand does not understand how his confrontation with the Dark One must be like.* But in no scenario can I concieve Rand's awareness of humanity being necesssary to win that fight. Perhaps, after the fight, if Shai'tan be locked away again.. but that's working on th…

hi I just love lying on the bed and let somebody else read it for me. I only read Bk1 and listened to the audiobook version of the other 12 books. Does anybody know if it will be released as timely as for TGS (the same day that was afaik)? The audio versions are all excellent. Available at http://us.macmillan.com/ and itunes. Read by Kate Reading and Michael Kramer for mcmillan.com. They're a couple. The guy usually reads chapters about male heroes, and vice versa. The only Problem with the Audiobooks is: the guy reads the Perrin parts in an extremely annoying slow dumb voice, makes me hate these parts even more I guess... and Loyal is intonated equally…

Simple enough question, Do you think we will see Padan Fain in ToM? If so where do you think he will be? and what will he be planning? Personally I'm going to say yes. I think the last time we saw him was in book nine (I'm not to good with the titles but I remember the chronology reasonably well) in Far Madding. So he has been missing for far too long! I think that we will find him in perhaps the Borderlander army at Far Madding as, I would say, he had the advantage in the fight between himself and Rand when they last met at Far Madding. Hence it would be a logical place for him to try to lure Rand again. If he has the ear of one of the borderland kings or queen…

where they came from? We know what they DO. We know their Purpose - What they are for. (To allow Rand, Mat and Perrin a limited form of Tav'eran Telepathy, as well as providing an urgent reminder to the 3 that they need to start pulling back towards each other since TG is fast approaching). But, we still don't know about what caused them to come into being. What made them? The Wheel itself? The Pattern? A Natural side effect of THREE Tav'eran as powerful as Mat, Perrin and Rand being in the world at the same time? The Creator?...who we know does not Directly involve himself but might be IN-Directly putting a hand in? A ''Bubble of Good'…

I have been with this series since Day One. In 1991 I had the honor of shaking Mr Rigney's hands at a comic book shop and recieving his signature inside my first edition hardcover of TEOTW. I went through the series in order, suffering the same long wait as so many of you between books. I was one of those who found TPOD/COT disapointing and slow. I also had a slight, slight inkling that maybe ACOS was not up to par with Books 1 - 6 and that while WH was fun (the Mat/Tylin Stuff) and had an AWESOME Ending (The Cleansing), that it had far too much filler. But...recently, reading back through both TPOD and also COT, here years later now, I can't believe how GO…

I was gonna post this in the red eagle section but it wouldn't let me. What classes do you think these guys would be? Particularly starting in book 1. Like I got rand and mat as farm boys lol...if you guys can think of something better please tell me and i got perrin as blacksmith apprentice....moiraine is easy, aes sedai and lan as warder. I would greatly appreciate any kind of input here as far as what classes the char's would be. Even char's that dont appear till later so I can write em down. I'm also still trying to track down face graphics and or art for the early char's so if you know of anywhere that I could find em please let me know. and for those who would …

I liked the funny "love affair" between Mat and Tuon, but it turns out that Tuon is quite an ignorant narrow minded little girl. I don't want each of the 3 male heroes end up with an annoying bi***. Aludra certainly is alot more fun to be with than this little royal brat. Maybe we get lucky and Tuon dies ;D in a battle against Rand. Then we're rid of her and Mat becomes Master of the Seanchan. Min - the only lovely girl of the 'heroes', with sexy shorts. Elayne - arrogant, ungrateful, and her love for Rand never explained, probably a career decision. Aviendha - extra dumb Aiel, but with a hot body. Faile - spoiled brat, extremely bitchy and likes to co…

It is interesting that with Rand's near obsession with the Forsaken (Rhavin, Sammael, Graendal, Asmodean, Lanfear, Moridin.) He has virtually not any clue on Demandred. Considering that Demandred is brought up most often ie; LTT mad ravings. And considering the history between the two, it is strange that Rand hasnt actively sought out Demandred. I know that he has been occupied with other things and such, and I am not suggesting that he should drop everything to hunt for one Forsaken. However, considering the length he went to kill Sammael and Graendal, its suprising that he hasnt even thought the same for Demandred. Why Demandred you ask? Well, …

Hi. I am about to re-read the WOT, but since I don't have a spare 9 months, I really just want to read some pretty essential parts. I will take nominations for which Chapters I should most definitely read, from Books 4-12 please. Hopefully this thread will be helpful for all. Thanks.

So Hi to everyone here. Just doing an ol' reread since book 12 and been looking at characters actions and thoughts a lot more in depth and I have come across two things in tGH 1) tGH - Prologue page xix "The man who called himself Bors swallowed. There will come a day, Halfman. When the Great Lord of the Dark comes again, he will choose his new Dreadlords, and you will cower before them. You will cower before men. Before me! Why doesn't it speak? Stop staring at me, and speak!" So we know that dreadlords are friends of the dark who can channel, hence has Carridan got his info wrong, or can he channel? I'm willing to let this go either way and there wont be a r…

Is it just me or would Tam make a brilliant Warder for Cadsuane? He's solid, dependable, a blademaster, not bad at tactics and has shown he wont be pushed around in a rather polite way (not shouting). Plus it'll be another string to tie to Rand, and a reason for tam to stay around his son.

Hopefully we can all discuss this! After the release of the 11th book, and it was revealed to Rand that he had lived thousands of lives and he can remember living every single one of them.... I sat there thinking how remarkable it would be for myself to do this. All throughout the book, there are quotes such as "may you be reborn into the light again", and even the theme of the book "the wheel of time", suggests there is a certain cyclical period, 7 ages or cycles to be exact. There are many civiliations of our own world that proclaim there is also 7 ages or cycles of time that we all go through, astronomy shows that the earth is going in certain revolutions …

I never really thought about it too much until rereading/skimming back through Book 8/TPOD last night and it jumped out at me. I guess I never caught it - or never comprehended the reasoning for it before. I am talking about Chapter 12 New Alliances during The Graendal/Moggy/Cyndane Social when Graendal detects Moggy beginning to channel at her. It just made no sense. It makes no sense....First of All: Noone is stupid enough to attack an advesary on their Home Turf, so to speak. Moggy (or any Forsaken) certainly wouldn't be that dumb. Also, Moggy had to have known that Graendal would be armed with an angreal, which she was, but that also Graendal would have her …

The Attack on Algarin's Manor--The Fake Sammael The Order The first issue here is that the order was not obeyed because the man who ordered it looked like Sammael, it was obeyed because the one who gave the order had the Chosen Mark. For clarity, the Chosen Mark is a sort of imprint the Dark One puts on the souls of his high chosen. RJ describes it thus. Moridin's point is clear--despite the fact that he looked like Sammael, the fact that he was obeyed means he was one of the Chosen (and thus had the mark). Had he not had the mark, even looking like Sammael would not have helped. But What of Fain? We’ve seen Fain …

So judging by the cover art Mat is going to rescue Moiraine in the upcoming book. Through the cover art it looks like its going to be Mat, Thom and Noal that are entering the tower but I have a feeling Oliver was the third person Moiraine was talking about in her letter. I'd truly be surprised if Oliver didn't have a big role in this because he is the one that is always playing Snakes and Foxes. And since The Tower Of Ghenjei is suppose to be like a real life Snakes and Foxes game I'd expect Oliver to be there. What are your guys thoughts on this?

I was thinking, the War of the Shadow lasted something like what, 10 years? And we're all dying waiting for the series to come to an end in 2 books, without the Last Battle actually having been started (or not?). In the previous 12 books, only a 2-3 years span was covered whereas a big war should suppose a great length of time. Do you think the Last Battle will be something like a blitzkrieg with major battles but with the forces of Light rapidly (2-3 months) going to Shayol Ghul (or anywhere else to wipe out the Dark One) or will we have some references to the length of battles along the lines of "2 years now that they were stuck in Tarwin's gap, and no side ha…
