Several of you have PM'd me and asked me to pop this up when I finished it, so I'll take that as a request. I didn't really do much, just formalized it a little and popped in a few tGS references. The Bodyswap Theory - Updated The bodyswap theory began during one of the original discussions about the possibility that the Third Man that Rand began to see in his dreams during tPoD was Moridin. It was based on an attempt by me to solve certain contradictions between the prophecies that relate to Rand's death--contradictions which I thought might be solvable if a link between Rand and Moridin truly did exist. I've always meant to update it, but I just couldn't…

I have read that RJ stated for the Light to win The Dragon & The Champion of The Light must fight on the same side. In the previous Era, Elan Morin Tedronai was The CotL and went over to the Shadow becoming Ishamael. Was Ishamael still the CotL? or did Ishy stop being the CotL? If Ishy stopped being the CotL could the Wheel then choose another CotL? If so, my money is on Lan. What do you think?

Is anyone else intrigued that Rand is adopting more and more characterizations of Elan Morin Tedronai/Ishamael/Moridin. I mean he is: 1) Started adopting the colors red and black for his clothes. 2) Is starting to prefer the True Power over the One Power. As shown by his "dark halo" that more than one character mentioned when in his presence. 3) His attitude took a more radical change than in nearly any of the books. He is becoming,...well for the lack of a better word,...more evil. He seems a lot more resolute and is willing to follow an "Ends justify the means" approach. Such as him having absolutely no visible qualms about murdering hundreds of innocents sim…

After completing Notharah's survey about the WoT (http://forums.dragonmount.com/index.php/topic,59246.0.html), I thought about how long I've been a fan of this series. If you've been a long-time fan of this series (since 1992, for me), have you ever had any lulls being a fan of this series? For me, I was a strong fan of the WoT when I first picked up EotW in '92. I devoured the next 3 books within months. I started picking up the new books as soon as it was released starting with TFoH. I did my first re-read after finishing LoC, and participated in WoT usenet groups in the mid-90's. I had my first lull as a fan after ACoS, as I was slightly disappointed with…

How did trolics, halfmen, and drakar get so far into the waste in TSR? When Rand and crew leave waste they are traveling west and come to Cairhien. This means in the waste they were a good 400+ miles south of the blight. Now my question is how did so many darkspawn get so far into the waste (emory stand & coldrocks hold). they could not have gone through the ways for no groves in waste or ogier built cities.we all know they could not have gone through a gateway, for no shadow creation can. SO HOW? You can't tell me lazy, cowardly trolics were driven hundreds of miles into the waate(the dying grounds.) I have to assume even "sneking" shadio would kill hundred of trolics …

So Rand's mother is Tigraine and she was married to Taringail first so Galad is his 1/2 brother. I think everyone pretty much has acknowledged that. Taringail's 1/2 sister was/is Moiraine. So Moiraine is kind of Rand's 1/2 step Aunt (if there is such a thing)Aunt. Taringail married Morgase and they had Gawyn and Elayne. Since Taringail would be considered Rand's step father according to a strict interpretation of geneological rules does that make Elayne his 1/2 step sister (yes, I just made up that title)? Kind of twisted. And if Luc and Isam are "melded" what would that make Rand and Lan, like 3rd or 4th cousins or something? And that would me…

This was during the time when Rand wanted to 'secure' The Merchant Council. What a WASTE of Time THAT turned out...one of Al Thor's true political blunders imo. Anyway...This really hit me tonight reading TGS again. This is my second reread. When I initially read the book during the first week of November, last year, I didn't really think much of this point at the time. I was just thinking it was one more example of Crazy/Very Angry Rand in TGS being Very Angry at somebody. But then...really look at it: Rhuarc has been The Dragon's ''Right-Hand Man'' (sorry Rand - no pun intended) throughout the series...also, The Aiel are always depicted as SO efficie…

I was just listening to The Gathering Storm and it made me wonder how the Black Sisters knew of Egwenes Purge. Could it be as simple as Black Sisters having bonded people that were within the opposing forces? IE: If 10 or more sisters died in the camp than 10 bonded people within the tower could inform black sisters/forsaken? Just an idea. I'm trying to puzzle it out.

My thought is that the title of the next book may forshadow some future events more than just a rescue attempt at the Tower of Ghenjei. The spelling of the word towers is plural. Also, the use of the word midnight may have some deeper meaning. Midnight could be implying a dark coloration or it could just be referencing some sort of evil. There is one Tower of Ghenjei and it is described as "shining" and "metal", and the finns aren't evil exactly though Mat might argue the point. My speculation is that the title is pointing to multiple towers coming into play. This could easily be pointing to the Black Tower since the color is right and it fits in with the plural of t…

As usual, forgive my lack of detail or ability to cite applicable references. That's where you seasoned members with your remarkable ability to recall information save the day! ;D It seems like Rand doesn't want to put the Maidens in danger (if only because they're women) even though the Maidens want to guard him -- and they have good reasons, too. He has gone behind their backs more than a few times, much to their dismay and have expressed their anger and frustration to him because of it. Add that to Rand insulting the Aiel by 'using' them as well as his disregard for their customs and abuses/misinterprets his role as Car'a'carn. It seems like he dismisses …

I looked at a few topics on this but everyone seems to fly off into random tangents and never discuss the actual question. So who is this guy? Does the book give any other clue to find out who this guy is? I'm figuring it is Rands real father. THats all speculation of course.

Does anyone know how far removed Moiraine is from the Sun throne. Does she have any legitimate claim to be Queen of Cairhein. If possible I would like to see her as Queen. Then Rand wouldn't have to divide his attention in so many ways and Elayne could fully focus on Andor.

I know I have thought about this too much, who dies in MoL? Knowing RJ, I would think he would want some of the main carachters to die to keep things realistic and emotional, but who?? I've heard many people say Rand is for sure going to die, but I don't think he is. However, I do think either Matt or Perrin will and I think maybe one if not two of Rand's lovers; perhaps Min and Aviendah. This is going to be one of the most interesting parts of MoL. I can't wait!!!!

Regarding the original announcement of ''The Split'' almost a year ago now, I remember how mad everybody was at the time, but I bet when Spring of 2012 rolls around and caps off a stretch where we got THREE ...*AWESOME*...WOT Books in aabout a 28 Month Span...Well, will you sit down and eat crow, my friends? ;) (Yes, I understand that using the term ''Awesome'' before 13 and 14 are even out is non-guaranteed, but I have the right to go on faith on this one - especially after how EXCELLENT I myself found The Great Storm to be). Remember, splitting AMOL was never ever about content...it was about binding issues. I will bet you that the three hardback releases…

I do not necessarily mean just THE ''Last Battle'' but you can consider as included ANY **Major*** Battle that you just HAD to win! Please use - as what you use to consider your choice - what we know and mayve have seen in books 1 - 12. I am leaning towards Rodel Itulrade with a SLIGHT edge over Mat Cauthon ... BUT, I also feel worthy candidates as a ''Great Captain'' of an army in one big really battle should also include: Rand Al Thor Perrin Aybara Pedron Niall Davram Bashere and: Jaged Algemar Am I missing anybody? Mat has not only his OWN natural military skill - and ''LUCK'' but also all those other guys experience i…

The question is simple, what cities will be sacked and razed by armies of the Shadow? I made a similar post way back before we knew about the split which you can look at here. http://forums.dragonmount.com/index.php/topic,36345.0.html Needless to say, after The Gathering Storm, your opinion may have changed. Mine has, I've added Bandar Eban to my list of doomed cities, while Far Madding with the Borderlanders in the vicinity has dropped down the rankings a bit. I've decided Lugard is either directly or indirectly under Demandred's control so it's not likely to be sacked either. Jehannah is a lock to be razed. There doesn't seem to be any armed force o…

I have read she did not notice it but this is hard to belive. The 3 oathes should not have allowed them to kill any man who is not proven to be a darkfriend. Possibly a BA but why would not some else say something about it?

I'm sure this has been brought up, but I didn't see anything. So Rand (and Nynaeve) have cleansed the taint on Saidin, I wonder if the Ways can be cleansed in the same manner. It would be pretty cool to see them in their full glory as they once were. I guess it's something that, if it were to happen, would probably be outside of the scope of the series, considering it doesn't seem crucial to winning the Last Battle, but who knows. It it possible? What do you think?

Who else is like me and fairly apathetic about who killed Asmodean and but is praying we find out in ToM? i just want it out of the way so we can focus on the awesomeness that will be aMoL. Ive been reading Brandon Sandersons twitter and he is refusing to say whether it wil be revealed in ToM. It just seems like their dragging it out for fun. I will be realy dissapointed if Asmos killer is not revealed in ToM

Ok, so we all know that Alivia is destined to help Rand die. I'm sure most of us have considered how she will fulfill this role but late last night, a thought occurred to me -- and I actually thought to write it down this time!! First minor speculation that I'm sure has been discussed ad nauseam on the forums, but just humor me will ya? Anyway: What's up with Alivia? Why is she so uncharacteristic of a traditional damane, particularly considering her age? Now, about her role with Rand: Maybe Alivia's role in helping Rand die will be indirect and not along the lines of, say, killing him straight out. Prophesies and such never seem to play out the way we thi…

I'm listening to TGS again, and I'm wondering if it's made clear how the Black sisters got away from Egwene. (jeez, saying the black sisters sounds a little racist) Anyway, here is what I came up with. Any other options? 1. Some Warders were darkfriends, and bonded to sisters who are not. Those warders would have been let loose as soon as their Aes Sedai swore she wasn't black. They then would have tipped off the other Darkfriend Warders. 2. Some Darkfriend sisters were bonded to each other. 3. Somehow Messena found out what was going on and figured out a way around the Oath Rod. Problem with this one, is we know some of the rebel Darkfriend…

So forgive me is this seems dim, but I don't have my books with me and its been a very long time since I read the EotW prologue... Now, as I recall, the prologue was Lews Therin in the last hour or so of his life, wandering the halls of his home, surrounded by the family that the saidin-tainted madness had caused him to slay. During the prologue one of the Forsaken were there taunting him - either Ishy or Demandred I believe - and once LT realized what he had done, he drew on the OP, so much so that he created dragonmount in his suicide. My question is this - shouldn't that Forsaken have been bound with the DO in Shayol Ghul? I get the impression that this event…

So we all know that Mat is the fox that makes the ravens fly, but does Tuon realize this? I know she realizes this as far as he's the one that her damane Lidya prophesized being her husband. What I mean is when he enters her wagon and Noal recites the Fortune rides the sun on high with the fox that makes the ravens fly. Luck his soul; the lightning his eye. He snatches the moons from out of the sky. IIRC, Mat doesn't really realize that this prophecy is talking about him and certainly doesn't realize that Fortune is Tuon, but shouldn't Tuon realize this? She knows the prophecies of the dragon, but it doesn't seem she realizes this. Am I wrong? There's al…

So way back in tFoH Aviendah instinctively travels to Seanchan to try and get away from Rand. We know Travelling requires you to know where you currently are extremely well. The problem is Aviendah couldn't know the room well enough to do that. They hadn't stayed in that room before, and there has been no obvious chance for her to channel enough to get to know the place. So how did she do it? Perhaps her instinctive weave doesn't require you to know your departing place well...

So in chapter 51 of tFoH rand gets the letters from eladia and alviarin. He reads each then hands them to Moiraine, who in turn hands them to egwene to look over... Jump ahead to aCoS chapter 9 where egwene is talking to leane about rand thinking alviarin supported him. She says "he says he has a letter from her." then "that's if she even wrote it; if it exists." So the three possibilities we can conclude from this are 1. RJ made a mistake 2. Egwene forgot that she read the letters and heard Moiraine say it was in her handwriting 3. Egwene was lying to Leane, when she had no need or reason too. What do you all think
