Hi, this is my first post, my first thread, and my first theory This theory concern the Horn of Valere and Illian, and what will happen in the next books First lets consider some things: But did the horn reach Illian? No. It never go there. It is hidden somewhere in White Tower, with only Siuan and Verin knows where. Consider again that Martin Stepanos, the former King of Illian is in the White Tower now. Coincidence? I don't think so. So I think that one way or the other, The Horn will be presented to Martin Steppanos, by Rand or Mat, He will be the King once more, and rally the forces of Illian to follow Rand to the Last Battle. How? I…

Ok, I am on ACoS re-read in expectation for ToM in late October. My question is, when Nyn and Elayne go to meet the Kin with Setalle Anan, Derys, who is really quite weak in the power, shields Elayne. Elayne says that when she tried to batter down the shield, it "flexed." Then Derys explains that she could probably shield one of the Forsaken with it. She explains that it is a talent that she has. My question is, what type of shielding is this, how does it work, and how can it hold someone so much stronger in the power. As far as I remember, nobody else in the series has been able to achieve this type of shielding.

Elza Penfell is one of the Aes Sedai sworn to Rand that had originally been captured after the battle at Dumai Wells. She is a darkfriend. In Winters Heart during the cleansing from her point of view she says that her time with the Aiel convinced her that Rand must survive to be defeated by the Great Lord at tarmon gaidon. What happened with her and the Aiel? Why did she become so passionate about saving Rand? What changed? She even said that while she wouldn't directly disobey a Chosen, she felt OK making certain decisions on her own to ensure his safety. What's her story?

So I couldn't find the exact qoute/viewing/dream/prophecy. However, I know I've see the discussion on here before about Rand knowing the Amrylin's anger. I was recently thinking about this and how everyone seemed to speculate what it would be. Has any suggested that Rand already knows the Amrylin's anger? I was thinking about what really pisses off Egwene throughout the series and gets her all heated and it's her thinking about being collared with an a'dam. So I think that Rand now knows the Amrylin's anger because of the sad bracelet being thrown around his neck. What does everyone think? Has this already happened? or is it still down the road. Tha…

For me: -Tuon & Mat renuion, Tuon PoV when she learns that Toy is the one who blew the Horn of Valere (can we get a hard rap on the head here ;D) -All the main characters renuion and subsequent (hopefully) sharing of information...just for once would be nice -Moiraine returning will be better than defeating the Dark One maybe -Egwene and Tuon most particuarly getting put in their place -Perrin to stop being emo and not think about Faile for a page -Gawyn dying the worst possible death -Aes Sedai realizing they don't walk on water

I think I've figured out what the issue with these books, and specificly the Perrin, Mat, and Elayne storylines is that, at least for me, they felt like they could have been acomplished quicker. They're generally less epic than many of the other storylines, think like the battle of Carehien, Duami Wells, Rand's attack on Illian and Andor, and some others. And they are a little drawn out, especially if you had to wait a long time between them. Since I started reading the books last August, and read through the series until Jaunuary, when I finished, I didnt' have that issue. But, I did feel like after all the main characters had accomplish, how could Perrin not …

  11. When Egwene uses the need trick in the Gathering Storm, why does it take her to the Tinkers? and why does the fire not change like it should? I'm thinking the fire is showing us that they haven't moved in a long time, which is odd for them. The only Tinkers I can think of that might be important are the ones with the cache of angreal. What do they have? I don't remember what all they're protecting, or what became of them. Could this be the same Tinker caravan that Mat came across with the dead Tinkers? If so, who's stoking the fire? Egwene seems to think that what she needs to learn is that life is worth living and enjoying. Could it be that easy?…

  12. In TGS chapter 36, Verin and Mat strike a deal, a part of which is that Mat will take a letter from Verin and remain in Caemlyn for 30 days. If he opens the letter, as part of the agreement, he must obey its instructions. I don't think we have nearly enough information to do more than guess at exactly what Verin's letter to Mat will ask him to do. But I'm posting this topic to see what people think about a possible connection to one of Egwene's Dreams. In TPOD chapter 15, she Dreams of "Mat, weighing two Aes Sedai on a huge set of balance scales, and on his decision depended. . . . She could not say what; something vast; the world, perhaps." Now, we know from…

I remember shivering when i first read the scene in which the gholam is contemplating life without obedience to the Forsaken. I wondered at the time if RJ was going to move forward with that idea and turn the gholam into a wildcard, and more recently i concluded that he wouldn't... he just didn't have the time. Recently, however, i was re-reading Jordan Quotes, and i came accross this in the QotW. It occurs to me that the last figure who had authority over the Gholam was Sammael, who is dead. Moridin wasn't even aware that the gholam was in Ebou Dar. So has the Gholam been running free all this time, slipping its chain? Certainly Semirhage seemed unaware of w…

Just recently on Twitter/Facebook Brandon has said that he has recently added Andrew Sparks to ToM, the interesting part being that he isn't human. I thought this would be fun to talk about what race this person is from. I can't imagine an Ogier being named Andrew, I don't know if *Finns have names. Maybe he's a Nym, but I wanted to see what you guys thought.

  16. In the video game Portal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portal_%28video_game%29), you can do some crazy things using physics and portals. For example, you can put a portal on the floor that is connected to one on the ceiling. Then when you jump through the floor you will fall over and over from ceiling to floor, faster and faster (until you reach terminal velocity of course). Or you can do other things like placing a portal so that you can throw something through it and it will pop out around the corner to hit something you couldn't get to otherwise. My question is this: could gateways be used the same way? Could you make a gateway in the floor to the ceiling of the s…

So whats the story? Is he defo Jain Farstrider (echos of Lord of the rings there with strider)? Is he the man in Graendals palace? Where did he go when Mat and him found out about the seanchan in crossroads of twilight? Has he been complused? If so, to what effect? Was he the man in the stedding warning about the blinding of the eye? What bearing does he have on future proceeding? Okay if he is Jain, I reckon he must have a big part to play as Jain got a lot of building up as a hero by the characters. So it must be significant otherwise Mr. Jordn could of used a character that is most definitly not Jain Fairstrider. What is the point of him being Jain, if he is? Why …

Theory: Sammael was brought back by the Dark One, given a body, and is acting as Noal. Sammael found a stasis box, and that's where the gholam came from. Sammael knew that Matt was in Ebou Dar because he saw him from the window. new-Sammael/Noal used the gholam to worm his way into Matt's entourage. Can we really accept that the gholam was afraid of one additional old man coming to help Matt? Noal has been sneaking away to report to the gholam where Matt is headed, and that is why the gholam has managed to follow Matt so easily. Noal repeated a story that Graendal told Sammael about the Ayyad tatoos. Noal is Farstrider? I don't understand why Farstride…

We know from Thom that his nephew Owyn was gentled by the Red Ajah and, left alone, had died. We also know that Toveine was ordered into solitary exile. "Just twenty-four in the last twenty years. And you know how the land has been scoured." - ACoS ""Twenty-four is a dangerous number to speak aloud," Alviarin said with an ominous quiet, ' 'as dangerous as two thousand. The Chronicles record only sixteen. The last thing needed now is for those years to rear up again. Or for sisters who know only what they were told to learn the truth. Even those you brought back hold their silence. Elaida put on a bemused look. So far as she knew, Alviarin had le…

  23. I think that Moiraine and the 3 man rescue through the ToG has more to it. The reason I’m saying this is because Moiraine was shown all the possible futures. She learns what steps must be taken in order to reach her goal. Basically, she has a cheat sheet on how to get an A. she has all the answers. Therefore, it should be understood that everything Moiraine did after that point was intentional. She knew where each step would take her. Given that she knows that she is going to enter Finnland and eventually (if successful) exit Finnland, I can only find one significant factor in her story thread. The entirety of her actions caused events to force Mat, Thom an…

  24. Mat has a great influence in the WoT world: he marries the empress (may she live forever), he leads armies, he helped the failuregirls fix the weather (how ungratefull they were for that), he will probably save Moirane and lead the armies at TG. Perrin leads a couple hundreds farmers would-be-bowmen, talks to wolves is married to a ... I don't even know how to say that in english without beeing really rude... Ok, Perrin is the Builder, the guy who keeps his head on his shoulders, but not more than Mat, even if only in a different way. I feel Perrin's character misses something. Something big, character-shaping. What do you think ?

  25. Started by Duskfire,

Okay, this is a little theory I have posted elsewhere and thought I would bring over here. Its semi-interesting and semi-unique (I think anyway) and at the very least should be a decent read. Dida actually gave me the idea for it in their talk of there being a fourth ta`veren to help Mat out in the ToG. A little idea I had, even before TGS, was that Perrin would enter the Tower of Ghenjei while Mat is also inside and in doing so help him rescue Moiraine without meaning to. There are a few reasons for this... Two ta`veren being in the same realm seems to put alot of stress on the Finns. One mentions the strain, and Moiraine herself remarks that two ta`veren…

Alright this theory is out there a bit and requires some background so indulge me. Way back in the TDR while Verrin is explaining the WOD (World of Dreams) she goes into some detail about the pattern and the mirror worlds. This got me to thinking about the mechanics of the wheel, how the pattern is weaved, etc. In a basic loom you have the warp, parellel pieces of thread tied to fixed points and the woof (which are weaved alternately in front of and behind the woof). We know the wheel spins out people lives (threads) to be the woof, but what consititues the warp lines? It is my belief that the fixed points for the warp lines are the portal stone…

When he asks about Rand, it just occurred to me, by saying hes a blade master now would be saying a lot without saying a lot. Just curious if he knows, and won't have the book handy on me for awhile.

Shaidar Haran is no normal Fade, taller, broader, has the use of the TP & with a sense of humor, which Fades don't have. Shaidar Haran has curiously been placed above some of the Chosen. Nae'blis? In Winters Heart Ch25 "Mindtrap after" Moggy was summoned to Shayol Ghul freed by Halima, She wakes in a cuande with Shaidar Haran. Shaidar Haran tells Moggy to close her eyes.....why? When she is given permission to open them, she is greeted by Moridin. Shaidar Haran is a creature to take note of. Original post amended: Shaidar Haran is not Moridin.

So, I am doing a reread and I just got to the part where Taim is introduced, and something struck me as really odd. Rand describes Taim as about 35 or maybe a few years older, and concludes from that that he has held off the taint for fifteen years. Now Taim is almost certainly a DF and probably has protection from that, but wouldn't he have slowed? So how old is he really? And if he has been channeling for 15 (30,40,50?) years, why is it just in the last year or so that he came out of the closet? So my theory of Taim is that he was always a darkfriend, but one of the FS (probably Ishy due to the timeline) scooped him up, taught him to channel, and unleashed him as t…
