  1. ************Spoiler Warning************ Hi everybody, this is my first post. I just finished reading TGS and I was struck by a revelation when I was reading Rands confrontation with Tam and his subsequent acceptance of his past sins as Lews Therin on top of Dragonmount. Tam sys to Rand " Rand I think you can survive this. I can't imagine that the Pattern won't give you some peace, considering the service you're doing for us all...Youay not be able to choose the duties you're given. But you can choose why you fulfill them." This got me thinking: what if the Prophecy that "the dragon's blood will be spilled on the rocks of Shayol Ghul..." may reference a more hopeful e…

I am not sure how much time has passed since the attack on the WT and Egwene's last POV, but she already had the Rebal Army ready for an attack. One would think that the WT army was mostly ready as well - sure they had fires to put out but surely they do not need both armies for more than a day. Over 24 Full AS were taken as well as some Novices and Accepteds. Surely some of those AS had Warders? With at least one army ready and an easy method to track the captured AS, why wasn't a rescue mounted immediately after Egwene was raised? They have Traveling and can "catch up" to the Seanchan easily. It will take several days to get the captives back to Eb…

  3. Was meantioned in the Shadow Rising Chapter: "He Who Comes with the Dawn" "There was a bitterness in Shaiel (Rands Mother) in the beginning, She spoke of a sun abandoned, a son she loved." Do we know who it is?

  4. I seem to recall reading somewhere that people are not born as Ta'veren. Is possible that Mat and Perrin became Ta'veren soley because of Rand's ta'veren influence? It offers a reason to bind them, especially since they can sense each other. Thoughts?

  6. Perhaps we have not seen the last of Asmodean. Robert Jordan confirmed that Asmodean dies in the infamous, unfortunate visit to the kitchens, and we've all heard the familiar arguments that support Graendal as Asmodean's murderer.* We've seen Asmodean resurrected by balefire once.** Has he just been resurrected again? Graendal was blasted with a tremendous amount of balefire. Enough, perhaps, to burn her thread back in the pattern to her release from the Forsaken's prison. Both Alsalam and Asmodean might now be alive again. If you think about it, Graendal hasn't done much else other than (purportedly) kill Alsalam and (probably) kill Asmodean. It would be a pretty co…

Why do all Forsaken, and even Aiel prophecy have such a hard time with the Aiel calling themselves Aiel? "He shall spill out the blood of those who call themselves Aiel as water on sand, and he shall break them as dried twigs, yet the remnant of a remnant shall he save, and they shall live." Are the true Aiel the Tinkers? What does it mean to be Aiel? "Prophecy says when the Stone of Tear falls, we will leave the Three-fold Land at last. It says we will be changed, and find again what was ours, and was lost." What did they lose that they are destined to find? Is it referring to the Song that the Tinkers are hunting? Does it refer to their old way of lif…

  8. Moridin has put a bounty on the heads of Mat and Perrin, and has disseminated their names and likenesses to all of the Forsaken as well as many Darkfriends. Verin implies that Mat's level of danger is incredibly high and suggests that he hide out. Vane recognized Mat in the 'hell' in KoD and rounded up 20 or so Darkfriends in about a half-hour to try to take him out. Two archers tried to assassinate Perrin in KoD when he shows up totally unexpectedly in a Seanchan supply camp to request Forkroot (i.e., this attack must have been spontaneous) and then killed themselves when they failed. I think it's safe to say that any Darkfriend that identifies Mat or Perrin is l…

Seanchan Prophecy; Fact or Fiction Essanik Cycle vs. Karetheon Cycle Firstly, just a quick disambiguation. I've seen people stating that the Seanchan Prophecies are the Essanik Cycle, whilst the Westland Prophecies are the Karetheon Cycle. This is not so--the Seanchan have the Karetheon Cycle also, they just have an additional set of prophecies about the Dragon which they've put together in the Essanik Cycle. We have no indications that the Essanik Cycle has been played with at all--indeed the only prophecy from it that we've seen turned out to be true. So, for clarity, the Karetheon Cycle seems to be a compilation of foretelling made during the first f…

  11. The UK cover from Orbit Books: A rough mock-up of the US cover from JordanCon, which may not be the final version or even the same illustration: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_SniTwfm5BwE/S9HEnGUfifI/AAAAAAAACUY/ndHpnbtfXAU/s1600/Towers+of+Midnight.jpg[/img] The cover blurb: The opening paragraph: Orbit also have a page for the book in their catalogue and list the page count as 784 and the release date as November 2010, thirteen months after TGS was released. The page count is inaccurate, and is in fact the same page count as TGS that they've just repeated. The final book will likely be longer (well into the 800s), re…

As some of you know I have called the Big Unnoticed Thing as the Unseen Eyes of Tel'aran'rhiod. The first citing of the girls feeling eyes on them in Tel'aran'rhiod occurs in book four... It gets referenced frequently, however. Here are some of the quotes. The Ongoing Principal: First mentioned in book 4, with heavy mention in through books four and five, slows down a bit in book 6, and then has one mention each in books 7, 9 &10. This fits neatly with the Ongoing Principal. The Discussion Factor: I cannot recall it being discussed once on DM, though Terez stated that it had been on Theoryland Revelation Requirements: The eyes are an…

  13. I think that Moiraine and the 3 man rescue through the ToG has more to it. The reason I’m saying this is because Moiraine was shown all the possible futures. She learns what steps must be taken in order to reach her goal. Basically, she has a cheat sheet on how to get an A. she has all the answers. Therefore, it should be understood that everything Moiraine did after that point was intentional. She knew where each step would take her. Given that she knows that she is going to enter Finnland and eventually (if successful) exit Finnland, I can only find one significant factor in her story thread. The entirety of her actions caused events to force Mat, Thom an…

  17. This seems a really odd thing to ask I know. But it occurred to me the other day that I really liked Faile before I got into WoT online fandom. Now I hate her like poison! Not that I’m blaming any of you but my opinions just change given new info. Like I have heard it said that people didn’t realize the significance of the whole mat gets raped scene. This is not to pass judgment one way or the other they just didn’t see it as significant. So any others?

  18. I thought I might move this conversation out of the Red Eagle Entertainment ghetto. The Dabel Bros. are no longer publishing the ongoing Wheel of Time comic book series beginning with the Eye of the World (no idea about the last issue of New Spring :(). I have linked the solicitation for their relaunch of the Eye of the World with a #0 and #1 double issue as well as an interview Newsarama did with series writer Chuck Dixon. Dynamite is a great publisher and will get this series out on a much more regular schedule than what we have experienced before. http://www.newsarama.com/comics/Dynamite-April-2010-Solicitations-100120.html - Scroll about halfway down for the sol…

They are The People of the Dragon and he is of there blood. I was thinking that they play central role in the whole thing. The Jenn Aiel gave Rand Rhuiden and the AoL stash. The Aiel are Rands strongest and most loyal military. The question that comes into play what will the Traveling people bring to the table. I have a feeling the song will come into play in some way. My notion is that the way of the leaf is going to play a major role.

So i am rereading 11, and just got through the part where rands hand, well you know. So my question, Semirhage told all of them that rand is crazy, but Graendal knows more about the insanity. How do either of them know anything about the taint or the madness. Didn't the taint come about because they sealed DOs prison and weren't the Forsaken sealed with him. I guess they could have been told about the taint but how would they have worked on people after the fact. If this has already been asked sorry. O and why does Gaul have a sword on, on the cover ( i just noticed this right before i posted).

I am sure this has been posted, or at least MENTIONED... but I'm having problems with details, and cannot remember specifics. There has been several hints made to us by RJ that there is a a pack of dark hounds on the hunt for something, or someone. Who, we don't know, and we never seem to get enough information to keep a thread moving (if there ever was one specificially made on this subject). Can anyone refresh my brain cells on this topic? What I'm looking for is when we first head about them, who was the character that noted it (I am pretty sure it was Matrim, but I am not positive), and has it been mentioned recently (as in the last 2-3 books recently)? …

  22. After servral years of intensive theary and study of WoT I think Rj has truelly placed one hell of a big joke on us! I believe he meant to make Matt Cuaton the dragon Reborn, after all Rand just seemed it becuase he was nutts and hearing imaginary voices, matts the one who blew the horn, which is suppoed to be done by the dragon, or so moraine planed(all hail Moraine the creator reborn IMO) he has also died and lived again, at least twice at last count, he is inevitable tied to the do due to his ;luck. He's actually turned the tide of wars by being in them with his tavern swirling, where rand can't. seriosly though rands only claim to fame is hes a s…

  23. I keep seeing people posting things like "When we find out who really killed Asmodean, then it will seem obvious." and other quotes like that. So I thought I'd post this to clear things up. Brandon Sanderson and Harriet said that the full description of exactly how Asmodean was killed has already been posted. they said they don't remember who did it, but it was very thorough, and that you can figure out who the killer is by focusing on the location of the kill. Brandon said he'd probably throw in a bit in the final books that should clear things up. Graendal saying "the other 7 living forsaken." in tGS, is probably what he was talking about. Especially si…

  24. So. In the past week I've gone through three thousand posts for the Big Unmentioned Thing, and have been driven utterly insane by it. When I go insane I get whimsical, and thus threads like this happen. So, what's the thing you want to see happen that you know won't. Here's mine. 1. An AOL Aes Sedai will be found in a stasis box, will be released and will verbally bitchslap modern Aes Sedai so hard they won't stop crying for a week. In that week she will, of course, gather and fully train hundreds of thousands of Aes Sedai, who will, quite naturally, refuse to be bound as criminals. 2. An Aes Sedai will stop posturing, go to the atha'an miere and tell …

What moment made steam come out of your ears, and many puppies be destroyed by your vengeful might? Here's mine: (Dramatization) Aviendha: hands Elayne a dagger and says (in short) "Darkfriends won't see you if you wield this" Elayne: "I am constantly worried about darkfriends, and they always seem to be one step ahead of me. That said, I don't think this particular item will be that useful and so I am going to put it on a table and never reference it again" Edit:(misspelled 'Aviendha')

So, in Knife of Dreams, chapter 24, Egwene can barely make a ball of fire, it's transparent. However by dividing her flows she can create 7 of them and 7 rings floating around them and controlling them. In Knife of Dreams also Rand channels 6 deathgates at once in chapter 19, and they're all 4 x 4 paces, and Logain comments after the battle how they are bigger than what he can create. These things lead me to believe when dividing flows you just have a certain size flow to work with and all flows coming from you are that size, so if you can focus enough to divide your flows, you can have a ton of the power coming from you. That being said, Winter's he…

I have a new theory for the next events in Fortuona's life. Now we all know sul'dam can channel, but the question I asked myself is: "What would an ambitious person do if they learned sul'dam can channel and want to move up in power?" Put a leash on Fortuona's neck. A damane can not be anything but a damane. She'll go to the pins and whoever has the most power/claim will become Empress/Emperor. This is my theory: She will be leashed. She will go through weeks of damane training and become humbled(Giving her a emotional connection to Egwene). Also they will teach her Traveling. King Beslan and Lieutenant-General Tylee Khirgan will find out that all sul'dam c…

In light of the new cover for the e-book version of Winter's Heart, I was wondering if they are planning to repackage the entire Wheel of Time book series in real life. They have a different artist working on each book. Perhaps the publishers will choose the one with the most positive feedback to redraw all the book covers. Add a little consistency to the book covers that I find lacking in the originals and the e-books. A little eye-candy for the fans. Honestly, if they did that, I wouldn't mind, so long as they don't split up the book into two parts again. I was already planning to buy an extra set anyways, since my original set has gotten damaged from reading. …
