I know that many more relationships are unlikely because we are nearing the end of the series, but there might be a few that I think would be just great. Main thought: I think Tam and Cadsuane are going to get together. Tam totally has the personality to override Cadsuane when she's being a jerk (which is a lot of the time). Any other ideas? Edit. Still no TGS talk on this board.

This is just a question I've been mulling over considering the extent of the abilities of the a'dam itself. How much control does it confer? In TGH we are given a lot of information about the a'dam from Egwene. For instance, from her PoV we see the sul'dam asking her to destroy a tree, and then punishing her for lying about trying. The key word here is "ask". Another important thing we learn from Egwene, and later Alivia, is that a damane's knowledge of the Power limits how she can be used. In fact, damane with special talents in weaving things other than destruction are given special duties (sky lights for example, or the ability to make a'dam themselves). Its …

Hello everyone. I'm a relatively new acquired fan of this magnificent fantasy series written by R.J.: I was given a heads up on the quality of books and hence decided to buy the whole thing, 10 + prequel novel (all the books currently released in Italian language, I'm eagerly waiting for 11th that is due to release in some months...), at once in August '09. I ended reading in the first days of 2010. Actually I read few of the books, a pair amongst the first ones mostly, in just some days; whilst it took me some weeks to read the rest of them, partly because I had way less time than before but also because the events were somewhat diluted, especially in 9-10. W…

There didn't seem to be much of a point to Bornhald moving a legion of the Children in an attack on Falme, other than to force Mat to blow the Horn of Valere. We know when Mat did this it caused the Wheel to take control of events (or was it the Creator? I can't find the note on that). Because of this I have to think Mat wasn't meant to sound the horn here and that leaves a legion of the Children of the Light ready to descend on Falme in a surprise attack. You could say the pattern wove for Mat to sound the horn here and I'm entirely wrong, but Robert Jordan stated that Fain sidestepped the pattern. His carrying the Horn to Toman Head might have put it in the wrong place …

Did we ever find out all of the identities of people at the Darkfirend Social in the Prologue? I know some have been figured out like Carridin and Ingtar. Maybe Liandrin. There was a tinker there but probably not Aram because there was never any real evidence that he was a darkfriend. Does anyone have a running list? Could there be some more suprises?

Logain's glory to come.. possibly glory above all men. I'm wondering if this means that it will be Logain to kill the Dark One. Or at the very least, he could be the one to finish off the DO. I think we all have a some thought about a body swap sometime, but what if that body swap is before the DO is dead? (yes, i'm assuming that this time he will be killed... could be wrong.. but that's what i'm going with now) I believe its been mentioned something about Logain stepping over what seems to be Rand's body at some point. I believe he is stepping over the body to finish off the DO. thoughts and/or opinions anyone?

The wind died. The screams died. The earth was still. Dust and smoke swirled back down the pass to surround him. "The Light blind you, Ba'alzamon! This has to end!" IT IS NOT HERE. It was not Rand's thought, making his skull vibrate. I WILL TAKE NO PART. ONLY THE CHOSEN ONE CAN DO WHAT MUST BE DONE, IF HE WILL. "Where?" He did not want to say it, but he could not stop himself. "Where?" The haze surrounding him parted, leaving a dome of clear, clean air ten spans high, walled by billowing smoke and dust. Steps rose before him, each tanding alone and unsupported, stretching up into the murk that obscured the sun. NOT HERE. Through the mi…

Just wondering if anyone else thinks that in ToM or perhaps aMoL that it will come down to a fight between Taim and Logain for control of the Black Tower. Taim is a darkfriend or perhaps Demandred in disguise though some will slate me for the Demandred part I'm sure and Logain is seemingly on Rand's side. So to me at least it seems like there will be a battle between them with Taim using the Asha'man loyal to him as darkfriends while on Logains side will be those loyal to him and Rand and the winner having control of the Black Tower. Feel free to tear my theory to pieces if i missed something or am completely wrong lol.

This quote has stayed with me for some reason through numerous rereads. In EotW when Aginor says this to Mat was he just referring to Mordeth and the taint from the Shadar Logoth dagger or is it something more?

So I've always had a question, we all know what angreal and sa'angreal do, but I don't think it ever goes into detail about how they work. I imagine channelers as wells that hold the power, wells that refill. If you draw water faster than can be refilled you burn out or die. I think of it as adding room to the well and making it fill up faster. So say Rand's 'well' is 30 feet deep. Adding Callendor extends it to 45 feet deep, able to hold more, and it refills faster. Maybe the Choedan Kal increses it to like 100 feet deep.

Why aren't there any? I understand that men who have the spark just go off to the Blight to die, but there's still all those that can learn.

Forgive me if this topic had been discussed before: I'm not new to WoT, but I am new to the DM forums, and searching them is currently broken. Anyway... I've never really bought the idea that Rand could have mistakenly believed he'd raped Min in aCoS. I mean, compare how he acts/thinks in aCoS 33 (A Bath) vs. tFoH 31 (The Far Snows). He's confused after both encounters, but at least with Aviendha he understands that it had been a mutual indulgence, even though her attitude had previously been combative and she herself was in denial about her feelings. The idea that he could then later drastically misinterpret his encounter with his close friend Min, who h…

I have noticed that many later events in the wheel of time are foreshadowed in earlier books, often in a very casual way that you may not catch at first... for example in The Lord of choas Nynaeve in frustration stats that she cannot channel without being angry, she would sooner be able to breath while drowning... ofcourse we read two books later that while drowning she finally overcomes her block. That being said, I was thinking about who could possible turn to the dark one before the end, someone we won't expect will by the end you can count on that. My first feeling was it would be cadsuane she is arragant enough and how many of the forsaken turned for such petty reas…

A few thoughts on the Final Battle and the nature of the Power. The ability to channel the One Power seems to be linked to a genetic curiousity in a few humans. That it is linked to genetics is fairly clear as it follows bloodlines. (and also the Reborn Souls) The Reborn Souls ability to channel seems to superced the biological aspect. Anyway there are hints in the last few books that the reliance on the Power as a vehicle for progress (as in the AoL) might be coming to an end. The hints that the newly invented steam engine will transform the world. also the emergence of militarized use of gunpowder. in our own history these inventions did transform the world and he…

I've been thinking about Ellyena and her soul presumably Elayne.... I'd say she is definitely one of the characters reborn but is it Elayne? Elayne has the same shade of hair as Ellyena and there names are similar but is that good enough evidence. Just before Moiraine & Lanfear went through the Red stone doorway LTT moans about Ellyena, maybe preventing Rand from killing Lanfear... I had a thought...could Moraine be Ellyena? It wasn't till after Moiraine & Lanfear went through the doorway that LTT started going off about killing Ellyena... Maybe because of his failure to kill Lanfear he feels responsible for Moiraine's(Ellyena's) death...He …

Ive read the series a couple of times and just noticed this in this read through. In The Shadow Rising, Chapter 22, Out of the Stone, about 2 pages before the end of the chapter Rand says "It had to work for me sooner or later." This is when he chose the symbol for the portal stone to Rhuidian (sp?). Anyways, what is he referring to? Ive been thinking about it and am not sure. What am i missing? Thanks!@ -Gympok

Hey guys. After reading through the series a second time, and coming to these forums, I started noticing all the little tidbits that are thrown around in the books that arn't obvious for some time. Take Rand channeling, I always thought the first time he channeled were when him and Mat got attacked at the Inn and he channeled lightning. I had read something about bela, and during my 3rd readthrough I finally caught the little nugget where Rand Channeled. He feels his bones splintering, cold, and Moraine mentions that Bela has a very strong heart (I wonder if she knew someone had channeled) Anyways, I wanted to take note of things I caught, and was hoping ther…

Book 2, Chapter 2: Who comes here? Leanne: The Watcher of the Seals, the Flame of Tar Valon, the Amyrlin Seat. Wouldn't the first be a lie? Do we even know if the witches even had a Seal in their possession ever? Were there Seals in Rand's POV when he was having his flashbacks in Rhuidean? Or were they lost after the Strike.

I am not sure what to think but I was going through The World of the Wheel of Time and saw the map of Seanchan and saw that the Towers of Midnight is listed as a location in the northern part of the empire. Any speculation on what might happen in ToM to bring on the title of the next book?

Does anyone know whether or not he's supposed to come back in the series? It's just weird because he was a major character in the second book and then just kind of disappeared in the beginning of the third book. He hasn't even been mentioned at all since then either...

Well, I finally finished Winter's Heart the other day, and man what an ending! For some reason it took me the longest to finish thus far, (Like, a month and a half) but it was really good. I'm now taking a break from the series and have started the first Mistborn book which, I have to say, I'm really enjoying so far. As I'm getting more into it, I am gaining more confidence in Brandon Sanderson's ability to finish the series properly. But yes, a few of my favorite parts from the book: 1. The ceremony when Elayne and Aviendha become first-sisters 2. Faile's capture 3. Elayne, Aviendha, and Min bonding Rand 4. Pretty much every part with Mat... it's just hil…

I was thinking about lines written at the starting of Chapter 1 in most books. The Wheel of time turns and ages come and go.Leaving memories that become legends. And legends fade into myths and even the myth is long forgotten before the age that give it birth comes again. In a age called the Third Age by some,an age long past, an age yet to come, the wind rose in ______________ . The wind was not a beginning. there are neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the wheel of time but it was abeginning. (sorry if there are some mistakes, I don't have the book with me) The question that came in my mind is that why it was written it was a beginning when there are ne…

At the beginning of Lord of Chaos, Demandred got some instructions from the DO while at Shayol Ghul. At the end of the book, he's back at Shayol Ghul and asks "Have I not done well, Great Lord?" Thinking back over the book, I can't think of one thing that happened in it that was Demandred's influence. Kidnapping Rand was Messana's plot and she'd set it in motion before Demandred told them what the DO's orders were, so it wasn't related to that. The Shaido were Asmodean's thing and then Sammael picked up the pieces, so he wasn't involved there. Osangar got sent to the Black Tower and Demandred didn't recognize the Ashaman in Shadar Logoth either by face or uniform…

In T'A'R after Rand's battle with Rhavin finished, and he met with Nynaeve and Moghedien, why didn't he recognise Moghedien for who she was? Earlier in the book whilst he was travelling through the Waste to the Pass, he thought about how he already had the perfect image of Sammael, and he knew it was from Lews Therin's memories and not the description given him by Asmo'. I'm just curious as to why seeing Moghedien didn't jog his memory a little.

we know that the act of bonding a warder imparts with with special benefits increased stamina etc do these benefits stack? im thinking of rand in paticular since he is the only one I know of in this series to be bonded my several channelers is it possible that he is " super charged" from being bonded by 3 seperate channelers ( leaving min out for obvious reasons.)
