Hello fellow WoT fans. I started reading the Wheel of Time series when I was in high school. I had a hard time getting interested in books when I was younger, but it turns out I just needed to find the right kind of material to keep me interested. Once I managed to muscle my way through the Lord of the Rings, my mother was so pleased she went out and bought several books - all the start of fantasy series - for me to try out and see what I liked. I wound up reading The Eye of the World first, and I'm still not sure to this day if I ever read the other books my mother bought. The Wheel, of course, has continued to turn, and as I grew up I found myself having less t…

I'm wondering if we can infer anything from Egwene's Accepted Test - namely with Beldeine being her Keeper. Isn't Beldeine Black? What about the Aes Sedai present during her test - we know Alviarin is Black, but what about the others. Is Alana Black? Would be a good way for the Dark One to keep track of Rand. and are we ever going to see what happened during Elayne's testing? Did she betray Rand each time like Egwene did?

So once again breeched the word limit for posts. As with the other threads all thanks and congrats go to those that actually transcribed the information--both Storm Leader and lovely fans. Special thanks to Terez for directing me to many of the non-DM Q&A reports. Please keep all discussion the existing Q&A discussion thread. This is only a compilation. Thats mostly because this probably won't stay around forever. All updates are under dated headings. Ok 23/11/09 update will be going up in two lots. Tamyrlin's lot, and everyone elses. Everything's up. Tamyrlin's stuff I kept together undert the Metaphysics of the Wheel, but devided into subsections on t…

After some thinking I got this question which I couldn't resolve by arguing with myself so I bring it to the experts, would it be possible to bond the dark one? If the first is true then what would happen? Could be a badass warder. Is it possible that Rand somehow bond to the dark one drawing him out from whatever murky hole he was hiding in making him vurnable, either thrue becoming exposed in the pattern or thru Rand himself, could it be so that by bonding the Dark One and then dying Rand will take him down?

Hey all, Having never listened to any audiobook ever, I was just wondering, what do they sound like when narrating or speaking as the Dark One? Do they put effects over it, is there emphasis, to go hand in hand the THE WRITTEN ALL CAPS style.

In TSR, there was that big fight with the Trollocs in the stone of Tear. I know that Semi and another Chosen sent them, but how did they actually get into the stone without being noticed? It's established they can't use gateways, and it's not like Trollocs are normal looking or anything.

Why don't the Asha'men test and Create their own Aes 'Sedai ,,, they have Aes Sedai that they have complete control over and those same women could easily test other women ,,, once the test is done and they teach those same women to submit to the Power of the True Source the Asha'men need only give em the KISS and they will also be the obedient servants of the Ash'men ... This would not be disobediant to RAND's order not to Bond any more Aes'Sedai , because technicaly speaking the new women would not be Aes'Sedai.

I was thinking about this alot...mainly inspired by a remark Thom makes to Tuon in KOD about the Nature of Ta'vereness - where he says that Tav'eren always seem to find what they need when they need it...and also by some of Moraine's early comments in the series about Tav'eren. Verin's too, I think - My memory is admittedly foggier than the air in the Rahad. But, while Rand and his 2 pals are certainly remarkable in the LEVEL of their Tavereness...They are the three most powerful Taver'en since Hawkwing...they are not uncommon...nor is the phenomenon. We are told that some may be ''Lesser'' Tave'ren and that some may be spun out by the Wheel to be Ta'veren for a…

Not much new for most of us, but I stumbled upon a story about Brandon and WoT in the local newspaper today. Enjoy. http://www.deseretnews.com/article/705347607/Fantasy-is-reality-for-BYU-professor.html

as said in a previous thread, bubba and i were disgussing many aspects of the WoT. one of which was the cycle of the wheel itself concerning Breakings and Civilization. here is what we know for certain 7 spokes on the Wheel of Time. Breaking happened 3000 yrs ago at the end of the AoL's we are in the 3rd Age it is a repetitive cycle, meaning events are doomed to happen again for the rest of time here is what we reasoned out - each spoke repersents an Age in the wheel of time - 7 Ages complete an Age Lace (complete turning of the wheel) - the AoL repersents the ultimate peak in civilazation - the 1st Age repersents a nomadic/primative…

I started my re-read @ CoS onward after reading TGS. They are a lot easier to read if you don't have to wait years in between and forget all the minor plots that are going on. Anyway, here's my question. When Rand is attacking the Sanchean towards Ebou Dar there are references to all channelers that the source is "funny". This effects Saidar and Saiden, and ultimately leads to Rand trying to defeat the Seanchan w/ Callandor and killing members of his own army. Was it ever defined what was making the OP so hard to hold/behave so weird? I thought it might be something to do with the Dark One, but even Dashiva (who I believe is Forsaken, and now dead aft…

People seem to take it for granted that Tamyrlin was the first person to learn how to channel (presumably sometime early in the Age of Legends?) and that the Ring of Tamyrlin was a ring he made, and possibly a one-power object. (For instance, the wikipedia article on the Aes Sedai claims this). Is there any canonical evidence for any of this? All I can remember from the books was that Lews Therin had worn the Ring of Tamyrlin and that it was presumably a symbol of his authority as the head of the Aes Sedai. Is there any particular reason to believe it was named for a specific person, or that its namesake was the first person to channel? Or is this just fan lore that …

Two much anticipated Fantasy novels are scheduled for release in 2009. Which one will be first into print? I think the first one to hit the market will garner the most attention, press, publicity and sells The last update from George RR Martin’s website concerning Dance with Dragons was more than a year ago. He had hoped to finish the book last summer. Alas, he didn’t finish the book and took a long vacation to Spain and Portugal. I’m a big fan of the Song of Ice and Fire series but was disappointed when Martin took off for Europe. Our boy Brandon, on the other hand, is writing up a storm. He’s cranked out about 400,000 word on A Memory of Light, while working o…

I've been looking for signed copies forever. That are reasonably priced, of course. The cheapest I've been able to find online is my :D $20 copy of Winter's Heart (which, coincidentally, is my favorite of the series). I was wondering if anyone knew of any places I could buy them for less than 50 each? Thanks.

So what would happen if a damane were placed under compulsion? Typically when a damane disobeys her suldam she is punished with physical pain and/or nausea but could she overcome this punishment if she were compelled to disobey her suldam? What does everyone think? On a side note I think it would be cool to see a damane placed under compulsion suddenly turn around and attack her suldam.

Reference: Rand visits the Aelfinn and asks "How can i win the last battle and survive?" Their answer is: "The north and the east must be as one. The west and the south must be as one. The two must be as one. If you would live, you must die" My theory concerns the first question and answer concerning how he can win. I don't believe that the north/east and south/west concern geography. Well, not specific land anyway. I think that it concerns the white and black towers. Take a look at the symbol of the Aes Sedai (the basic Ying Yang symbol). It you look at it as a globe the north and east areas are black (men, black tower), and the south and west are white (women, wh…

Well here's what i as a film professional love to do with my favorite series, The Wheel of Time. My cast list. I know its been done before but please I have never seen one on dragonmount.com so Here's what i wanna see. Names of actors that could legitimately play parts in the movie version. No super huge name actors are gonna be able to do it, think to Lord of the Rings, those people weren't really big time actors back then for the most part. So cast on a timeline of your choosing: ex: Who could play them if we start shooting today or in a few years which is more likely. A small portion of my cast list can be seen at the following: [http://www.theotherside-devinv…

This has bothered me for a long, long time. Alot. Not just because the series itself in REAL Time is now a series that has been published over a stretch of 19 years now. I can deal with that - One is the real world, one is the fictional universe within the books. See, we have been told by Jordan, Harriet, Sanderson, etc several times that as of the end of Winter's Heart until The Great Storm (an incredible book, imo) very little time passed. In fact, parts of later books, such as the first several dozen chapters of COT were spent ''Catching up/Crossing Over'' in relation to the time line. But. The MAIN thing that bugs me is that, to date, (TGS) the overal l…

As I'm sure you are all aware Rand battled Ishamael three times before he finally kicked the bucket. I've been wondering how did Ishy survive and/or get resurrected after the first two battles? Has there ever been an official explanation? We know he was not trasmigrated as he reappears in the same body with the same name. At the time I just assumed that Ba'alzamon could not be killed by conventional means and that Calundor possessed some special quality that made it the only means of killing Ba'alzamon. However, we now know that Ba'alzamon was none other than the Forsaken, Ishamael and that the Forsaken can potentially be killed by any means that would kill a n…

Okay, not 'vs.', really... but think about The Matrix (and blot out the ill-conceived third act if you can). Specifically think about the Architect discussing the purpose of 'The One', an anomoly created by the system and designed to essentially draw in all the other anomolies that would otherwise crash the system if allowed to go unchecked, then rejoin with the Source and essentially reboot the world/program/dream. I know that's oversimplifying it and many more pages than this have been filled discussing the nuances of the supposed meaning behind that little speech. But consider it in the context of Rand Al'Thor as 'The One', the purpose of Ta'veren in general, his …

So I thought this would be an interesting topic to discuss. Which of Rand's future wives do you like the most? I've seen alot of ill will towards Elayne over the years, so here are my predictions: 1. Min 2. Avi 3. Elayne Here's why (and an explanation of my vote): Elayne - Elayne has several problems that cause people to think ill of her. Firstly, she seems like a bit of a gimmick...you know 'the hero gets the princess' sort of thing. Second, she always keeps the same company. She has some companions that come and go, Vandene, Adeleas, Mat, Aviendha, and Valan Luca all come to mind. But there are characters she never seperates from and when this occurs…

I've always noticed, Rand and fellows fight for the Light, figuratively, and the Darkfriends fight for the dark, Yet the Creator NOR the Dark one have -ever- taken an appearance here. From what I've gleamed, Moridin has been posing as the Dark One the entire time giving out orders in his name, even in Shadar Logoth. It leads me to believe, Is the entire concept of Light/Dark in WOT just an illusion created to be pulled over our eyes? If Indeed the Dark one was the one who spoke to the Forsaken in Shadar Logoth ( Namely Aran'Gar and Osan'gar after rebirth) Then where the hell is the Creator? Why would the Dark have such a force over the world and th…
