  1. I did read the Code of Conduct and was a little unsure if this is a violation or not so here is goes. Please let me know and remove the post if it is against the rules. Hey WoT fans. I have an extra numbered first edition copy of Towers of Midnight from the BYU release party back in 2010. I bought one for me and one for my friend but he never paid me for it so I kept it and it's been sitting on a shelf for 9 years. I'm keeping the lower numbered copy because I had Brandon personalize it with a message (#610) and selling this one. It has the Jordan facsimile signature and Brandon's actual signature as well as it's number. I also have the numberered paper slip …

  3. I've seen several threads devoted to Logain vs. Taim and their respective strengths in the Power, but this one is purely subjective. I'm just curious: which false Dragon's your favorite? Mine's Mazrim Taim, but it's a close call. (This was originally supposed to be a poll, but my phone derped, so.)

So I'm finally reading all 15 books (including New Spring) for the first time -- previously, I'd only read up through Knife of Dreams -- and having just fiinshed Crossroads of Twilight this morning, it ocurred to me to wonder: By the time the events in A Memory of Light have concluded, exactly how long will it have been since the folks from Emonds Field left home? I'm quite certain it has to have been at least a few years by the time all is said and done, but beyond that I'm unsure. Has anyone figured this out to any degree of specificity? NO SPOILERS PLEASE!! (I've not read any of the Sanderson books yet.)

It just seems encouraging competition among darkfriends will guarantee the Light will always win. Also, since time is a cycle, that means the Dark One never wins in the future, because the future is part of the past.

Hi guys, first post here, glad to see all the book lovers as a community. I’m coming out as a dark friend. I started rooting for the dark one when people became stupidly self righteous or power thirsty, they either think they should lead the final war against the dark one or too busy playing the game of thrones to think about the real threat. I wanted to scream so much while reading Elayne and Eg’s paths to be leaders of their realms, sometimes because of their own stupidity, sometimes because of people around them. Anybody played RDR2? Cadsuane sound like Dutch to me saying all the time “I have a plan!” Tell me what do you think, did …

How do you think the series would of changed had Rand had his Veins of Gold moment prior to when he actually did? At any given point in the series?

Okay, I do this when I am bored or can't go to sleep. What if you had the power to enter any book you wanted to and control the events in that book? I used to do with Stephen King's IT but have recently been going into Randland. What would you change? Who would you talk to? Remember, you can control everything just as if you were the Creator. So weaves won't touch you, you know the outcomes, ect...

  9. I came upon some information today that I hadn't seen before on Wikipedia which revealed that RJ had written an "International Thriller" that was still believed to have been written by another author. I did some research and saw that it stemmed from something he said at an interview at the 2005 Dragon Con. I did some checking and couldn't find anything beyond a mention of this and one theory that didn't make any sense. As I don't have one of those fancy tv-show computers where I can run a search for bestselling International Thrillers, restrict it to material between the years of 1985-2005, and check all of Tor's authors and their affiliated labels with last names…

  10. In my case, I like Faile and the whole storyline with her and Perrin. I've rarely encountered anyone else who does. And I love Egwene. Anyone else care to admit to their unpopular WoT opinion(s)? (I'm sure this post has been done a hundred times since the site went live all those years ago, but I figured I'd give it another go)

I'm a big fan of Harry Potter and WoT (of course WoT is better!). While I read Harry Potter I sometimes question on whether or not J.K. Rowling has read WoT. I find many similarities in her books, some not as subtle as others. I really don't wanna give any spoilers for Harry Potter, or WoT but most if not all the similarities concern Hogwarts and the White Tower. There are just so many similarities and I can't seem to find anything online about whether or not Rowling has read WoT. Both are excellent series and it doesn't matter to me that their are similarities. If Rowling did take some elements from WoT and incorporated them into HP I wouldn't consider it stealing b…

Look, the Chapion of Light accidentally crossing streams of BF with the Shadow's top guy is so contrived and unlikely an event I just cant imagine it managing to occur in every 3rd Age of the Wheel's spinning. What else can you imagine might have been done to fix things, be it either some other way of using the TP or a completely different method of closing the hole in reality?

I didn't find a topic specifically for this, and I'm curious. Why do so many of you seem to hate Faile? I always rather liked her, and the relationship she has with Perrin. But it seems like she's just about the most hated character in Randland. So, please, explain. *waits patiently*

LMK if this is an inappropriate thread topic or type of thread; I just anticipate having a lot of questions and would prefer not to spam y'all with a bunch of new threads. First question: was Moirane and Lan's field trip to the Two Rivers the most productive road trip ever? They found 3 ta'veren, including the Savior of the world, a future Amyrlin, and one of the greatest Aes Sedai of the Third Age who is the greatest Healer since the AoL (Nynaeve). They also discovered how far the Dark One had penetrated south of the Blight and got a read on just how close he was to finding Rand first (via Ba'alzamon and his Fade/Trolloc/Fain minions). Importan…

Wheel of Time has long been on of my favorite series, but even with that I have always felt like it could be better if it could be edited down to a more focused story line. I am wondering what others would think about taking the series and re-editing it down to 6-7 books instead of the 14. In my opinion it would open the series up to a new group of fans who have been reluctant to dive into the series because of all the negative chatter about the slow middle books. New fans could breeze through the abridged books and then if they are interested in diving deeper into the world they could reread the unabridged books. What do many of you think? I realize many traditional…

In chapter 7 of the Great Hunt 'Blood Calls Blood', after the attack on Fal Dara, Mat had just been healed after Fain made off with the dagger. As they carry him off, Moiraine considers that Mat is no longer necessary now that the horn is gone. But he hadn't blown the horn yet. When did Moiraine come to the conclusion that Mat was the Hornblower?

So I'm new here, and a relatively new fan, only found the books a couple years ago. I was going through them again, and an idea just stuck into my head and I couldn't get it out, and it's blossomed into this fully formed, if speculative theory: Aiel are human-ogier hybrids, or at least were, though the blood has diluted significantly over the years. My evidence: Aiel trend significantly taller than other ethnic groups. Aiel have light eyes, and Ogier have light eyes (at least the ones we are told the color of). Da'shain Aiel and Ogier could both sing to plants, though it is unknown if many modern Aiel can. It seems unlikely given the waste, and th…

Obviously, the Kin and Ebou Dar wasn’t written when the girls first arrive in the Tower as novices. Also, the girls spent so little time in the Tower that there was little time to explore that world. There should be an expression of frustration against the Aes Sedai, particularly among novices, something like: I’m so tired I wish I could get as far from here as Ebou Dar. phrases which the novices themselves don’t fully understand the meaning. I’m sure y’all can come up with better phrases, let’s hear ‘em.

Aiel Blacksmiths follow the way of the leaf. Master Luhhan is queasy of blood. Coincident? Or an Easter egg? I don’t think it is discussed, but do gentle souls among the Aiel become blacksmiths? Or do Blacksmiths have to undergo what Avi did when the wise ones decided she had to burn her spears?

I know the concept of genetics in WoT abilities has come around (and around and around....) many times before. Example: http://www.dragonmount.com/forums/topic/34770-the-genetic-theory-of-channeling/ But it's been a goodly number of years since it was rehashed, and there are new concepts to discuss, such as proteomics, transcriptomics, and psychogenomics (the latter of which I could see evolving into a study of the soul, or manifestation of innate behavior, emotion, and personality). Not to mention the genetics of other things WoTdom. In regards to channeling, the consensus seems to agree that the learners & sparkers are sex-linked traits due to gender bein…

  29. I am currently rereading WOT for the first time since first reading it. I was just reading the following quote from chapter 12. “You must handle it,” Moiraine said in answer to something unheard from Lan. “He will remember too much as it is, and no help for it. If I stand out in his thoughts. . . .” I am trying to figure out what this might be referring to and can't remember what it might be. If somebody could point out what this is meant to reference I would appreciate it.

  30. Can Ter'Angreal Like the Adam (Collar) Be Used in a Stedding or places like Far Madding? What would happen if a suldam and damane crossed over to a stedding? Would the other ter'angreal that do specific things work in a stedding or Far Madding? These are just some questions that came to mind in another thread. Anyone have any ideas?
