Just making sure that i have this right. Rand's messed up eyes at the end of KoD are caused by his link to moridin and moridins use of the true power?

Ok, this is mostly just for fun and is without any real support. But I was thinking, there are alot of quasi-mystical abilities in the world of the Wheel. Channeling, Wolfbrothering, Aura Viewing and so on. There was a thread recently in which someone was attempting to show the similarities between Min's ability and that of the Finns, even though RJ stated them to be different--but it occurred to me, whilst their abilities may be different in origin, they may revolve around the same things--say, both the Finns and Min can see peoples souls, or some such. The point I am making--though not very clearly--is that though things may be different they may stem from the…

I'm new to the board. HEY EVERYONE ;D Anyway. I have read several of the books, though its been a while. I am re-reading and am about to wrap up book 4, before I continue on from where i left off. So I been thinking of Characters, and I saw a few old posts on what people would be if they had characters or could CREATE characters. I was going to reply to an old post but the board told me to post a new one lol. So my character comes from a dream of mine involving WOT. In the dream something was happening that was causing havoc all over the earth. This was set this year.. 2009. It was temporal flux of some sort. A few dead dinosaurs had appeared o…

This is not a light post. I went myself and hope to share thoughts with the rest of you regarding the 11th book of The Wheel of Time. Good or bad, happy or sad, high or low… I must air my thoughts/feelings after having finished Knife of Dreams last night. Last time I read the series I stopped (got fed up) halfway through the prologue of Crossroads of Twilight but this time I pushed through and I loved the continuing story. Having said that... It was with a profound sense of loss that I neared the end of KoD. I felt as if the words of James O. Rigney Jr. were about to run out and I got a bad feeling, or several "bad feelings," that this was the end. I don't like …

Ishmael is who Lew Therin faces here, right? If so, why is Ishy free? This has never made sense to me, in that my understanding is that Lews Therin trapped the forsaken when he sealed the Dark One's prison. Can anyone clarify?

Rand has had a few prophesies, foretellings about babies. For instance, Elayne feeling secure she would not die in the Camelyn war of succession because Min said Rand's babes would be healthy. There was another one, I think about Avienda that was something about there would be something weird about her babies and that she would have 4. Sorry if my memory is off but I am sure there was supposed to be something strange and that it was different than the # she would have. Now for the crazy theory. Rand has to die. His soul is linked to the wheel. He can die and come back to beat the Dark one when Mat blows the horn. After Tarmon Gaidon Avienda visit the word of dreams…

Ok, this topic is about uniting the white tower, but what about uniting male and female channelers? Both male and female channelers are Aes Sedai if they swear at the rod. Before the taint infected Saidin, Female and Male channelers worked as a comunity, will that happen again? Will the white tower be the right place? The white tower is a symbol of Aes Sedai fight against tainted Saidin, created after LTT did die. Infact, he did create the Tar Valon island with his death. So the questions are: 1. Will the white tower accept male channelers, and let them be Aes Sedai? 2. Can the white tower still be the base for Aes Sedai, it is a symbol of Aes Sedai rejecting m…

i was reading a theory on wotmania about steddings and ogeir and the book of translation. During this a couple of thought came to me. 1. If the Ogier leave will the steddings retain the properties of cutting off the source? 2. If they do retain those properties, wouldnt that make perfect jails for the dark channelers? Just a random musing, flame away.

It seems that the Tower will be united under Egwene. And I guess that Sheriam would still be Keeper unless she is convicted of some Tower law. Sitters & Ajah heads, for the Ajahs that repeat (White, Green, Brown, Yellow, Gray) I guess sisters from them would choose from the current ones; Blue & Red I guess would not need election. Egwene I guess would be elected after all Sitters are chosen. First step I guess would be electing Ajah heads. Second step I guess would be electing Sitters. Third step I guess would be electing Amyrlin (which would be Egwene). Forth step I guess would be choosing Keeper (Sheriam unless she is convicted of some Tower law). F…

Who is your favorite villain, and why? Right now, my favorite is actually Padan Fain. He always manages to be a step ahead, and he has no One Power to use to give him the edge. He uses cunning and guile, and he is driven by a hatred of the world that has been twisted and honed to a lethal weapon. I look forward to the impact he's going to make on Tarmon Gaidon.

Just came across a little factlet that I thought I'd pass on: Telamon Function: noun Etymology: Latin, from Greek telamōn bearer, supporter; akin to Greek tlēnai to bear I came across it in the context of "endurance" or "to endure" when reading something about Aeschylus' Ajax. Kind of amused me, given that the titular character Ajax (or to be 100% correct, Telamonian Ajax) goes bananas too. Interesting, or maybe not.

I am new to this forum. I was on another one before. I am reading this series again and there are a couple of things that I was wondering about. Actually one is a question and the other is sort of a theory. Mins says that her viewing of Moraine is the only that didn't come to pass. Does it tell in any of the books what her viewing of Moraine was? I don't remember reading it anywhere. While it I don't think Verin is black ajah she has done some things that go hand it hand with the 3 oaths. I was wondering if perhaps her and Cadsuane were part of a group from sometime in that past that have been looking for the Dragon reborn as well. While I don't remember ever reading how …

Something I have been thinking about for a while. IIRC someone who has been severed (stilled or gentled) can still sense the sourcee but can no longer touch it, but someone who has been burnt out can no longer sense it. Am I corret in this? If so I think it would unlikely that burning out could be healed. So if it can not, do you think it is at all possible to burn someone out intentionally, leaving no chance of being healed. Also just an after thought, do we know of any man that has been burnt out?

Since I last visited & how long I've been waiting for AMOL. I'm just here to ask you guys about a publishing date. I visited Sanderson's site & noticed his status bar now showed 109% for AMOL & 90% for Harriet's line edits. Since this confused me greatly & all I was after was a rough date of publication & I figured you guys & girls would be able to help. So in a nutshell is there an official publication date for AMOL? Even a rough guess like maybe September or November?

I did a few searches looking for this, if it's been brought up already I couldn't find it. We know that Ishmael was able to make Lews Therin sane at the end so he would know what he did. Assuming Lews Therin's madness was the result of the taint and not just old age, wouldn't this mean it'd be possible for certain knowledgeable healers like Flinn and Nynaeve to figure out? Or is that one of those things Jordan said couldn't be healed? I recall him saying any effects of the taint would stay once Saidin was cleansed.

I didn't see anything posted about this yet. http://charity.tarvalon.net/?page_id=2 This is an opportunity to get your name in aMoL and also help deal with world hunger. There are 2 separate name contests. The person who makes the biggest donation gets to have a character named after them, plus they can chose their nationality, character traits, description, etc. Also, everyone who donates at least $20 enters into a drawing to have a "captain" character named after them. Brandon promises that at least 2 winners will be chosen from this group. Everyone can vote to say what the group led by the winners will consist of. The options are Rand's Aiel, White Tow…

I am doing another read through in prep for the last book and I have finishing up TSR. Reading it makes me wonder, if Asmodean had not died, you think he would have turned to the light (or was he already headed in that direction)? I mean, later he even tries to heal Rand. I began to really like his character and was very upset when he died.

I don't know it this particular part in the book has been quoted before, and I think it's common knowledge that Olver can't be Gaidal Cain. But i'm pretty sure i've heard that origianly RJ planned to write some books that took place after TG and everything. So just from this one passage in Winters Heart, Chaper 15: In need of a Bellfounder, from Mats point of veiw makes me think that Olver isn't GC reborn but he probably is either another hero we don't know about reborn or he was supposed to be fairly important in the post TG books. Anyone have any thoughts on this at all? "Thom and Beslan were enough to restore Olver's grin. Pulling his hand free, he ran ahead…

Hey all, I'm on my second re read of WOT getting ready for AMoL I'm on TFOH right now and I was wondering where everyone thought the second and third birds went. The second bird was heading west so that could have sent him to Illian (Sammel) or Tear (One of the high lords for some reason or another) or Maybe even Myanne or just another random DF The third bird could be going anywhere though. My guess is that Avi is a DF or working for the COF and is either sending his reports to grendeal or Pendron Nail So what does everyone think?

When Gaul and Neald kidnap Galina near Malden, she tells Perrin, Berelain and Arganda a false name, and they KNOW she is lying. 1. Everybody KNOW that Aes Sedais CANT lie. This (they know she is a Aes Sedai, her face proves that)Aes Sedai is lying right up in their faces. 2. Ok, they know that she can lie, why do they trust even 1 word from her if they know that she is a lyer? A Aes Sedai who can lie is a DF or a wilder, but they still trust her. This disturbes me alot.

First I'd like to apologize if this has been talked to death, but I used the search and couldn't find anything on it, sooooo hopefully I'm not just some dumb newbie Now I am completely caught up on the series and have been for a while, but I am giving it a re-read right now and am just about through TGH. My question is does Padan Fain control the black wind? We know from the end of TEOTW that he followed the two rivers folks through the waygate when they went to Fal Dara and got chased out of the Ways by Machin Shin, so I am assuming Fain got hit by it. Then in TGH we see him steal the horn back from Rand/Hurin and use the waygate in Caihrien and Machin S…

1) In book 3, many times was mentioned 13 Mydraal had been sent for to make a circle, couldn't they of used the ways or couldn't the Mydraal just appear from the shadow? 2) Did RJ ever say what would of happened had the women of taken part in the sealing of the Bore? With the women's help would it of been a total success or would both male and female sides of the power of been tainted? 3) Was the taint the result from channeling near the bore, or from the DO himself?

Face it, being a Darkfriend is a horribly poor vocational choice. Darkfriends get terrorized, slaughtered in suicidal infantry charges, murdered, killed accidently, brow-beaten, drugged, and fed to Trollocs. What do they get in exchange for all this abuse? The right to boss around other Darkfriends.

I was just wondering what sort of things people were hoping would happen in the final book. Not the big major incidents but some little things that would just be cool. For me personally, (please keep in mind I haven't yet had a chance to read the eleventh book so if this has happen already I’ll feel silly) I'd like to see Lan and Rand get together of another training session. It occurred to me when Lan was training with one of the male channellers that had become a warder (forget who it was) and was hardly breaking a sweet. I thought it would be very cool to see how far Rand's prowess with a sword has come in a sort of Now who is the Master type of deal. PS Not…

I'm a system tester, which means I work within IT. I have been trying to explain to a friend why the Creator cannot simply destroy the DO, but I'm not sure if i am getting it quite right. I'm trying to describe it in terms of computers because it's easiest for me. So, I am the creator, I am the administrator of my computer and the computer environment. I 'control' it, I built it, I regulate it on a daily basis. The DO is a virus, a bug in the machine that got there because I opened up a file that contained a bug. Now, even though I built the machine, I control it and I am the administrator, I cannot rid the machine of this virus myself. All I can d…

Relatively new to the boards. I've seached "The Seals" and read through many of the prior references. It's tough to catch up I'll tell ya. Anyway, I think Herad Fel (sp) makes us think that it's likely that the seals need to be broken and the rubble cleared away to create a better / permanent seal on the DO's prison. (or make it as if the bore never was?) We know that Rand has all the remaining seals and will likely bring them out in AMOL. I assume, given their fragility, that he'll be able to just smash them... or else there may be an issue as I'm not sure anyone's figured out a way to break cuendillar (sp). I ask "WHEN" because the way things are shaping up,…

In FoH when Nynaeve and Elayne gets cauhgt forkroot-tea, Juilin threatens a woman just by talking about rope, boiling oil and salt. when Elayne ask about it he says that what they thought up was worse than anything he could do and mentions how a tough man broke down just by juilin asking for a basket of figs and a few mice, and Elayne wonders what you can do with that. anyone got any ideas of how you can use figs and mice for torture? ;D
