  1. I believe that Robert Jordan pulled a very 'Aes Sedai' move on us all, and here is my logic: The primary argument against Mazrim Taim being Demandred is that Robert Jordan denied this publicly and also said it should be obvious who Demandred is. Most of the facts that I'm quoting below come from the Lord of Chaos but I didn't bother to specify where I got the info for the better known facts; this is a topic that has been hashed and rehashed. It is known that the Black Ajah freed Taim from the Reds and then we are led to believe that he continued to skirmish for control and hide in Saldea. In Lord of Chaos, in the same chapter Taim is introduced, Rand repea…

We all know that the Seanchan are going to attack the White Tower. The general view of what is going to happen tends to be: 1. To'raken land on top of the White Tower and the attack begins 2. Elida is near the top so she is taken first 3. Egwene is somewhere near the top, but in a position that allows her to hide, so she knows of the attack but is not captured 4. Egwene rallies the rest of the Tower, and possibly the rebles to face the Seanchan 5. The two sides fight each other to a standstill 6. Rand meets with Tuon to get a truce and part of the deal is that collaring will stop 7. Rand and Tuon head to Tar Valon to end the battle I accepted this gene…

In KoD when Mat shows Setalle Anan his foxhead medallion she looks at it with awe, and then recovers herself quickly. Mat knows then that she was Aes Sedai once. To this Mistress Anan replies..."but Aes Sedai expect that when...certain things...happen, the woman will go away decently and die soon after". She goes on to say that her husband found her and they lived happily ever after and so on. So my question is, is there anywhere in the books that might give a clue to what Setalle Anan did to be stilled? Since stilling is a practice that is not used much her action(s) must have been pretty severe to warrant stilling. It does not say in the dialogue that she was stilled bu…

Right i have a query and it may have been discussed before so apologies I always thought that when travelling the person had too be familiar with the area they are travelling from before opening a gateway, yet in KOD when Nynaeve drops Lan off at Worlds End which as far as i know she would never have been too before she opens another gateway and disappears then seems to insinuate she's popping from village to village then back to Tear by the same means, am i missing something or has something changed. Answers please.............. ???

i just found this site and it is hilarious http://www.cetvrta-dimenzija.users.cg.yu/4th_dimension_site/engsum.htm heres some examples: Moiraine: You must tell me things. Perhaps I can help. Perrin: I talk to wolves. Moiraine: Good luck with that. -------------------------- Elayne: Mat, you must take this message to my mother. Mat: Doesn't the royal family or the White Tower have carrier pigeons? Elayne: Nope. Fresh out. Mat: Seems silly. Elayne: See this chin? I'll raise it. Mat: Fine. ------------- Nynaeve: We are women by ourselves in the world, and therefore must bicker. Egwene: Bicker, bicker. Nynaeve: Braid yank, brai…

I know WoT has been translated into quite a few different languages but I can't seem to find a place to buy them. I was hoping to find it in Korean. I've been trying to get my girlfriend to read the series but she's scared away by the density of it, so I was going to find it in her native language. Any links or info would be great. Also, I know that when translated the titles may have changed and/or any individual book may have been broken into parts, but I've been unsuccessful at finding clues in that area as well. Once again, any info would help. Until then I'll encourage her towards the original text :)

Okay i can't remember what book this was in or even where Cadsuane was at the time but during one of her POV's I think shes thinking about helping Rand (maybe the whole laughter an tears thing?) and she mentions that something shes gotta do could be the most important thing regarding the LB? She then goes onto say something along the lines of "It could almost be as important as that trip she made into the mountains of mist(?) all those years ago" it was something to do with visiting a family or an old lady in some middle of nowhere hut? This has always stuck in my mind that Cadsuane did something back then that wouldn't seem like a big thing to the casual observer but act…

Ok it's time for another one of Andrea's Only RJ can answer but she hopes someone has a clue questions. If Black sisters have the 3 oaths removed from them when they swear to the shadow, and the Aes Sedai know this, Can't they just delve a sister to confirm that she is or isn't still bound by the weaving from the Oath Rod? If so then why don't they and if Not has it been explained, and where? Darth_Andrea

I was always a fan of the cartoon Mighty Max when I was a kid (11 or 12yr old), and I remember it actually aired not too much before WoT. Anyways ever since I picked up book one all those years ago, and to this day I always picture lan to look like this guy. Go to about 15 seconds in and you will know what I mean.

Thats the best I could come up with. :D So i'm on another repeat of the books and i'm on aPoD and i'm on the chapter "Unweaving" and right after Aviendah picks apart the weave for the gateway when they leave the Tarasin Palace and Moridin sees it he thinks to himself "He had known of that for a long, long time, but whenever he thought he had the measure of them, these primitives revealed some new skill, did something that no one in his own Age had dreamed of. Something the pinnacle of civilization had not known!" I think the implications of that thought are pretty strong. Ishy was always talking about how many times he's seen such different outcomes of the wa…

Do we have any indication that any male channelers have been discovered amungst the Aiel? We know that there are male Aiel sparkers, who are told that they have been chosen fight against the Dark One and sent to die fighting in the great blight, so surely there are male learners too amungst the Aiel. Is there, then, any indication that this resource has been tapped? If not, then why not? -Tyrell

The "Third Age" (Age of the WoT series) seems to be somewhere in the area of 3,000 years old. How many years did the Age of Legends last? Was it also about 3,000 years? Is each spoke of the Wheel of Time evenly spaced? Are all ages about 3,000 years? Along that same line of thought, did the Age of Legends start out with it's people knowing how to channel? Did they have 3,000 years to develop their skills? Or, did they not learn how to access the One Power until say 1,500 years into their age? If they had 3,000 years to experiment and learn, that might explain why one of the most powerful and most respected Aes Sedai at the end of that age would be trying t…

While rambling around the Internet looking for WoT news, I stumbled onto this awesome WoT map site: http://fantasymaps.wordpress.com/2008/01/30/robert-jordan-wheel-of-time-the-ten-nations/ Is anyone on the boards fmiliar with this site? I had never seen this one before, but it seems like a fantastic resource for gamers and WoT-obsessed people. Is anyone on the boards involved with this site? :) It would be cool if people running this site could try their hands at some Mistborn maps sometime soon.....

  16. As the title says I was wondering where that ridiculous custom of arranging hierarchy by a sisters strength in the power comes from. It's like a group of men would decide who among them rule by the size of their muscles.

How would she know about the voices in Rand's head, Lanfear told her, there is no proof he is as mad as a brush, yes he has lots of different women in his head, and LLT(who he would be dead without by now.) i don't think he is mad, he just wants to run to his destiny and embrace it without hurting the people he loves. So thats why i think Semihage is lying about him, she even admits she is no expert in that field. Therefore Rand is sane

I know this might be stupid, but actually it's not really a question, but more of a inqusitorial realization. Egwene and Elayne have accomplished much and chance has helped them many times, but I know they're not ta'veren, at least I think they're not, otherwise Nicola would've seen something. But isn't it cool how much they get done? As if they were mini-ta'veren or something. That always amazed me, how chance worked for them. Gimme your thoughts.

  20. In the Great Hunt, Elayne tells Egwene that Min had a viewing of her- and told her that she would be queen one day. While Elayne is struggling for the throne, it is highly likely that if she did not get it, she possibly never may do so after that. So, it was fairly obvious that she was going to succeed. Did this bore you, while reading the books? I was most certainly not interested. There was far too much Elayne in the 11th book, IMO.

Hi, I hope this has not been discussed before (which I doubt) but I did not easily find any topics on the subject... unless I am typing my keywords wrong as my first language is French... Why is Rand so obsess about fighting with the sword??? Will it play a role at TG??? One many occasion, people have told Rand that with his one power he does not need to fight with the sword... forsaken have said it was ridiculous... Bashere told him also... Taim thinks this is beneath him... Now that Rand lost his hand in KOD, he is focused to relearn all the forms using only one hand to fight... why? How crazy do you think he is? And I want to split it into two categories: taint crazy, regular crazy. We all know that the taint did affect him in some way before he managed to Cleanse the Source. How much of his current state is due to the taint still running through him (or however you think the taint of affecting a channeler)? How much of it is just due to the stress of circumstance? And on another note, do you think Cadsuane is right about him? Do you think Lews Therin is a result of the taint?

  24. Get your copies of Eye of the World out, turn it to page 758, and look at the speech in capitals just over half way down. Speculation has been made that this was the Creator, yet recently I have begun to question this. Why would the Creator intervene at that point, if any? Rand already used the Eye and wrecked most of the Shadows army, meaning he had done what he needed to there, so he himself wasnt iin any grave danger. Why would the Creator reply to Rand when he screamed Baalzamon? When the "Creator" says "IT IS NOT HERE" I can only begin to speculate on what its on about, but it isnt the Eye, and it definitely wasnt Baalzamon/Ishamael because he WAS the…

I just read "Threads Woven of Shadow" is LoC and something occured to me about Sammeal's thought's of Graendal: Which if I remember correctly is how RJ described the behavior of someone forcably turned to the shadow. If anyone can find that quote I would much appreaciate it. I spent a while trying to track it down, but couldn't.

To what extent has/does LTT maintain his mental faculties? The fact he was around long enough to kill himself and the rest of his family suggests that despite being raving mad he was still a brilliant thinker and tactician. Following this will Rand be able to rely on LTT for "technical support" at TG?

In the first Book when Rand and the Boys go explore Shadar Logath. Morideth ( I think that was his name) Takes the boys down into the depths of the city to a room filled with treasure. He says that they can take anything but the one thing. Then he goes to pounch on them and cuts out the lights and ends up screaming in pain. THen he is hiding in the corner away from them before fleeing into a crack in the wall. Why did he scream? What hurt him? Rand didn't channel. Is it because Mat picked up the dagger? IF so Why would it pain him?
