So, I was reading KoD and I came across something that did not make much sense. In the thread "Bashere's suspicious decision" we were all discussing the time frame issue. In KoD, Bashere mentions about going to Ebou Dar with Loial. At first I took this as when he went there to try to arrange the meeting with Tuon. But after looking back, I could not come up with a reason why he would need to take Loial with him (enless he wanted it for his book, since Rand was being difficult giving info). So, I thought that maybe during the 11 or 12 days of missing time, maybe they went to Ebou Dar for some reason? I don't know, maybe I'm trying to see a circle when the…

So, this just came to me and I wanted to share it with you guys ;) Since the whole Seanchan Imperial family is dead, including the Empress, Tuon now holds that position. What do you think she'll do? I think she'll obviously want to meet Rand.. maybe attempt to manipulate him or talk about TG. Wasn't there some sort of prophecy about the Dragon having to kneel/bow before the Crystal Throne/Empress? I'm in the middle of a re-read and my memory is a bit rusty :P *EDIT* Just to clarify and move this away a bit from the other thread regarding Tuon, this isn't necessarily about the prophecy being fulfilled. More about things like will Tuon send Seanchan …

What is it? Will it have significance in AMOL? If it has no importance, why is it mentioned? Do Randlanders know about it? More questions likely to follow.

So I was re-reading through Knife of Dreams and I have two questions. 1. How significant is it that Egwene believes that Beonin didn't pass on the new weaves. Traveling, the new healing ect. When in fact she did. Elaida just decides who gets to learn them. 2. When Rand and Logain fight the trollocs and all that and rand sees morridin in his head he mentions something about a trick Ishy and Lanfear knew with the power to locate a Ta'Veren. I don't remember where that was ever mentioned.

The Forsaken have all the knowledge of the AoL, when all the angreal, ter'angreal and sa'angreal were made. So why don't they make some now to combat Rand? Instead we see Sammael desperately trying to find the angreal cache in LoC. Nynaeve/Elayne learned a lot from Moghedien. I think Elayne's ter'angreal making has nothing to do with information extracted from Moghedien. But wouldn't the Forsaken have the knowledge of making such things, especially considering that most of them were very high up in the forces of the Light until they switched sides? Asmodean or Aginor is the one who created trollocs/myrdraal. So they are researchers and have much knowledge. It o…

... the whole Moridin-swaps-his-soul-into -Rand's-body thing happens only to have Fain leap out of the shadows and plunge his dagger through "Rand's" spine while Moridin is still trying to settle in? We haven't seen the last of Padan Fain yet. He'll play a part at TG and my guess is that it'll prove to be more harmful to the Dark than to the Light. He may even survive TG and become the new embodiment of evil once the Forsaken are dead and the DO is safely sealed away.

This one should be a quicky. It should be pretty easy to decide if you think it holds water or not. Karede the man and the soldier: The setup: Shortly before he turns 22, Karede's initiative, heroism, and dedication bring him to the Empress' attention. He receives his second award for heroism in the Capital. The Empress attends. She is impressed by what she has learned about the remarkable young man and by his appearance and demeanor. She decides to take an interest in his career development. When her new is daughter is subsequently born, she has him assigned as one of the baby's bodyguards. When he further proves his devotion and dedication by …

... I'm not having any luck making sense of... Taim was captured in Saldaea after he fell unconscious when Rand fought Baalzy at Falme. That was in mid-fall of 998NE. IIRC, that was also the year of the never-ending summer. Like all other False Dragons he was consigned to AS and their Warders and troops to be taken to Tar Valon and gentled. In late spring of 999NE, more than six months after his capture, word finally reaches Siuan in TV that Taim has escaped. ( Supposedly broken free by loyal supporters somewhere in the Black Hills ). She sends a dozen AS and 1000 troops to retake him. Logain had been captured in the spring of 998NE. In Ghealdan. …

Everybody can agree that Rand is atleast a little mad, right? But then you look at his situation: The worlds fate depends on him The worlds most powerfull channellers are after him He loves three women, but he knows that keeping them by his side might cause their death He is certain that he won't survive TG He is raised with the idea that women should be protected at all costs, and for every maiden or woman in generall that dies, he seems to take just one more step against madness He is in constant physical and psychological pain People blaims him for stuff that he isn't responsible for He has been betrayed ALOT by people he th…

What would go on your personal WOT soundtrack. For me there's - March Cambreadth: Makes me think of the fall of Manetheren and Malkier http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5G3KNDWB2JY (ignore the FF10 video in the background) By Heather Alexander: Axes flash, broadswords swing Shining armors’ piercing ring Horses run with polished shield Fight those bastards ‘til they yield Midnight mare, blood red roan Fight to keep this land your own Sound the horn and call the cry How many of them can we make die? Follow orders as you’re told Make their yellow blood run cold Fight until you die or drop A force like ours is hard to stop …

How was Asmodean able to "Skim" to Rhuidean? According to everything we've been told, in order to Skim to a place, one has to know the destination intimately. At least as intimately as you'd need to know the starting point in order to Travel. Asmo had never been to Rhuidean. He had no idea about any of its details. At most he might have had a general idea of the area where it was located and the fact that it was hidden inside a fogbank. So, how he do dat?

I've got an idea I'd like to bat around. I fully expect it to be unpopular. I'm also pretty sure it could turn into another endless wrangle that could go on until A Memory of Light gets published. I leave it up to this community whether I bring the idea forward at this time or wait until later. No comments necessary or expected. Just please vote.

For some reason, a lot of people are assuming that the term 'pillow friends' in the WOT refers to homosexual people. I think this is highly unlikely. A lot of Aes Sedai comment on having had pillow friends when they were novices. This very likely merely means that they were best friends. This could even by applied to Moiraine and Siuan. My opinion: pillow friends are very close friends. Nothing more. Feel free to comment. :D

Ok so we know that the male Forsaken have the little black chains things that protect them from the taint. Rand saw this and Cut Asmo's off and got a teacher. So if Rand was so familliar with these black band things why did he not notice them on Dashiva since it is generally accepted that he is one of the FOrsaken? Dashiva Channled in front of Rand loads of times.

ok my guess is that when the time comes rand will break the final seal to summon the DO- rather then let him break free ova time and continue to screw wid the pattern now we dnt know what form the Do will be in- human yet immortal or just a giant cloud of darkness yet either way rands best option would be balefire but the problem is widout the other choden cal he will not be able to beat the dark one so im guessn that elayne will make a female choden cal and alivia n rand will use them to own the DO am i right or do u pple hav better ideas?

I did some searching and found no discussion about this, but if I missed it, sorry. I had been wondering about this and kept it in the back of my mind in one of my re-reads. I really couldn't come up with one, but after reading some of the thread about who was going to die and live in the final book, it seems that Lan dieing is pretty popular. He is kind of old(er) and would die far before Nynaeve, so it makes sense. So, do you think it possible for Lan to die in the final battle and Galad's comforting of Nynaeve lead to her bonding him? This is, of course, if Lan dies. If not, I had thought of Nicola - if she grows up. She seems to have been coming along i…

I've noticed that you seem to be into maps of Randland. This occurred to me the other day and I think you will probably know the answer or be able to figure it out more easily than I could. If after the Last Battle the entire Blight recedes to the "North Pole" and the Ashamen level the mountains at the east of the Waste to totally alter the climate of the Waste and Shara, would the approximate geographic center of the "new" Randland be located near Rhuidean? I know...I have this obsession with Rhuidean. :-[ But, I thought that maybe after all of the ashes were sifted that perhaps that forgotten, overlooked city might be the new "capital" of the new Ra…

Long time lurker relistining to TSR. When Perrin is packing up from the old sick house to go check on the White Cloak encampment he notices Verin looking at his hammer. Is she simply curious as a brown or does she know something of the prophesies mentioned in KOD about Perrin. Or are these simply Seanchan prophecies? Thanks

ok lookn for peoples ideas on the last battle and what will happen from it am sorry if this topic has been done b4 i think that rand and LTT will fight the dark one and win, however suffer grave wounds and die. although because the aelfin or the eelfin (i cant remember) said to live he must die so i think nynaeve will finaly cure death and bring him back to life. Logain will kill Taim Nyneave will kill Moghedien Aviendha will kill mesaana or Semirhage Min will kill Fain gd Asha'man will kill the bad Asha'man Matt will kill a female forsaken not sure bout the rest

The Wise ones say that being in tel'aran'rhiod in the flesh is evil, and you lose part of yourself. Did Jordan ever specify what exactly happened? I'm wondering because Rand was a lot in the world of dreams in the flesh, and I'd like to know if part of his craziness comes from that.

I'm doing a re-read of the entire series, and i have a couple of questions. 1. Before travelling comes along later in the series, RJ describes it as a "shimmering" in the air before the person steps out. However, after rand does it, it becomes the twisting white rotating line thingy. Also, about mid way through the series, the forsaken start using a "doorbell" before they pop thru. At the beginnings, though, they just appear. Q: are their two types of travelling, or was it not thought all the way out? 2. When the 3 wonder girls are captured by DFs on the way to Tear, they end up almost being sold to three Myddrell. Of course, they break out, the aiel come, …

I know that the idea that Rand is probably the Fisher is old news on this board...but I read something on TDR that help solidified this theory. Located in chapter 37, Egwene has one of her dreams about Rand. After some previous visions, she sees Rand on a board containing black and white squares, fighting those who were trying to control his movements. This view is directly related to Moridin's POV....what do you guys think?

I've been thinking for a while about this. Animals in Tel'aran'rhiod seem to be there for longer than possible if they were 'dreaming.' A simple example would be the place in TSR where Egwene encounters Amys hunting the boar. The boar is there for a long, long time. Of course, it is possible that Amys brought the boar into existence by thinking so. Furthermore, when Nynaeve and Elayne visit Ebou Dar in the world of dreams in early LOC, they see flies in many places. How could living things be there in that manner? It is impossible to tell whether animals dream or not of course. Any thoughts?

... that may have been overlooked. At the kaffe klatsch at the beginning of KoD, Aran'gar notices that Moridin has had eleven chairs placed around the table. He/she wonders why. Maybe it signifies nothing. Maybe it means that Moridin, at least, thinks that all but two of the missing and presumed dead are going to return. Questions are: If Moridin thinks so, what does he know that he hasn't shared with the others? If he's correct, who are the two who won't be returning? Rahvin is pretty obvious, but which of the others is most likely to be DEAD, dead? If he's correct, how has the DO managed to transmigrate those who will be returning?

Another shameless AMOL speculation topic: What signifigance does, and will be made of, Rand's missing hand have from his "DOH!" meeting with Hemorrhage? He claims he can still feel it yet it is not there. Will he have some kind of SAIDEN hand made of the power? Will it become a sort of Balefire hand? I am sure that it was not Jordan's intention, but Rand is slowly becoming more a more like a certain Lord Skywalker I've heard of. -Mynd One could hope he puts a Chain-Saw on it a-la Bruce Campbell!

I was re-reading book 9 a few days back and after reading the entire far madding hunt for the rogue ashaman by Rand and Nynaeve and the subsequent ass-saving by Cadsuane, i had a few questions regarding power wells. Firstly, can a shielded person draw Saidin/Saidar from a full power well or will he she be unable to do so?? In far madding, the true source just vanished, where as while shielded, you can feel the true source, you can strain to reach it but you are blocked, will that cause any problem while trying to draw power through a well while shielded?? Secondly, can a stilled person draw the one power through a full power well?? In stilling, a person's abilit…
