  1. Started by Majsju,

Some years ago, a fan managed to get a moment in private with RJ, and took the opportunity to lay out his theory regarding who killed Asmo. And to his great surprise, RJ confirmed he was right. And even better, he managed to sneakily record the whole thing. Now that recording has leaked to the internet, just as everything eventually is bound to. Quite crappy quality, but you can hear the important part.

  2. It is well known that one of the first (if not the first) time Rand Channels happens during the flight from the Two Rivers and he heals Bela, so she can keep pace with the rest of the horses (which makes me wonder why Rand didn't feel the sickness from touching the source that he feels later in the journey, or is that sickness related?). In Baerlon, he is confronted by the Whitecloaks after laughing at them after one of Mat's pranks. In his POV he is talking to the Whitecloaks, but can't believe what he is saying, like someone else is speaking for him, standing up to the Whitecloaks, almost instigating a fight, until the Watch comes along. Rand holding the Power or…

There are so many threads on him, I decided to start a new one. I'm reading the series again and well, I have believed he has been reborn since reading the series the first time. He shows the same affects as Rand. There is no POV with Taim. Take away Rand's POV and what do you have? Two men who can channel hearing voices in his head. LoC Chapter 42, is a good example. As well as their first meetings. I believe Taim is one of the previously false Dragons. Probally the second. If he is, imagine what he is telling Taim when infront of Rand. Would also explain how he knows so much. And just like Rand he manages to fight off the voice and compose himself. Read the chapter…

In TGH, Nynaeve successfully wears and a'dam. She then wears the bracelet holding Moghedien captive. Suian and Leanne, before they were healed, both wear the bracelet and feel Moghedien's emotions, but are unable to make her feel or do anything. Why then, is Satelle Anan unable to wear the leash that was placed around Jolien's neck. Was it bacuase she was burned out rather than severed? What implications does this have towards the prospects of her being healed. I think this means that a woman who was burned out cannot be healed as there is nothing there to heal.

  5. In my point of view ,it would be rather impossible for Aes Sedai to select an Accepted (even this strong and promising)for Amyrlin.Ok , she CAN be Amyrlin (has the potential) ,but I'm sure they could find an Aes Sedai to accomodate their needs . Even Faolain could be a far better candidate than Egwene (if they wanted an Accepted for the job ).Things like this happen only around Taveren .She wasn't there , I dont know if she even is Taveren .So , why?

I have created a new post for this rather than putting it in the Alanna's Bond thread as it covers much more than that, and that thread seems to be drying up. I can't find another similar post. The Greens are the Battle Ajah, and it just so happens that they tend to have several warders - two or three is not unheard of or unusual. Rand is bonded to FOUR women; three channelers and one other, two of which are Aes Sedai, and the other two being quite strong (physically) women (Avi and Min). Now, we know that the bond passes strength back and forth - indeed the only reason that Elayne bonded Birgitte in the first place was to give her some of her strength - to keep…

  7. Started by Andrew the Great,

I have a friend who is nearly as into the series as I am, and we sometimes will discuss our views on various parts of the books. Recently, he came to me after rereading KOD, and said, "I have this crazy theory I HAVE to tell you about!" Basically, the gist of it was that in the final chapter of KOD, the palace in the BT is covered w/ red and black (moridin's colors) and Taim knows things only a Forsaken should know. (See threads on Taim being Forsaken) So, he thinks that Taim is Moridin. Something seems instantly wrong with this theory to me, and I said as much, but I still can't quite place it. I'm almost positive Taim isn't Moridin, but I can't think of anyt…

  8. Can souls be born/reborn more than once in an Age? I know that a lot (if not all) of Mat's memories are from Manetheren, but we don't yet (AFAIR) have a confirmed case of rebirth (as opposed to summoned Heroes of the Horn) twice in an Age, and we don't know that Mat's memories are from reincarnation. Also, the only non-DO-caused (Aginor/Balthamel) reincarnation we do know for certain about (Rand/LTT), plus the one which is only suggested (Elayne/Ilyena) are between Ages. That leaves us with these possibilities: Reincarnation is once-an-Age for specific individuals (the Dragon, and possibly other heroes) and after death for most. All souls are reincarnated only o…

Sammael refers the "events to the South" as having Demandred written all over them. Amadicia is to the South of just about everything. Asunawa, the High Inquisitor of the Hand of the Light is rabid about killing witches, as he see them. "If it brings down the Tower," he says in the prologue of CoT " I am content" Is Demandred maybe involved with the Whitecloaks.

well i was listening to the audio books, when something triggered a bell in me. Flinn was healing Rand's side and sealed the two wounds away from his body away, He said to the sisters, ''It will not last'' Maybe the increasing illness is not just him, maybe its the healing of flin that is weakening, of course we knew it could be from his sides, but maybe if flinn does seal them away again he might be able to channel normally. Sorry if this has been brought up...

Hey gang, Myndrunner the Newb here! I wanted to not only introduce myself but also start things off with an interesting discussion topic (in High Chant). Here is my question: Was it Robert Jordan's intention to have saidar and saiden reflect how women and men have sex? Now, before you go boxing my ears and screaming Darkfriend, hear me out. While reading the WOT series, I started to notice something interesting about the One Power. Women embrace saidar by opening themselves up to it and allowing it to fill them. Men, on the other hand, have to take saiden by force. One could argue that these parallel the respective positions men and women take in the …

Was Alanna's bond was the only thing that kept Rand alive after being slashed by Fain with the Shadar Logoth Dagger? We've seen it's effects on at least three other people, two of whom can channel. Seanchan guard #1 "alias ensign deadmeat" Died in seconds. White Tower accepted Verine - Dies in seconds Raefar Kisman - starts to turn black, dead before he can run more tahn a few steps. The dagger kills, hard and quickly. If Rand had not had the extra regenerative properties a Warder gains from the bond, he would have been dead before Samitsu had a chance to heal him. Yes, Cadsuane tried to heal and thinks that was the difference but I'm not so …

A World of the Wheel of Time Study Male vs. Female Power Levels. After reading some postings on how Aes Sedai rate amongst each other when it comes to power levels, I could not help but to wonder why I was not seeing a whole lot about where female and male channelers fell in a single power continuum. Though there is little information in the books on comparative power levels of male to female channelers, there is one intriguing passage that gives us enough information to make a reasonable study of how men and women stand up toe-to-toe. In Chapter 3 of TFoH (pg 104 in the paperback) Rand is discussing the relative strength of men and women channelers …

OK guys Im going off my memory here but Im pretty sure I have everything in there accurately on this. In Knife of Dreams after Semirhage blows Rands hand off and is then captured, she tells Cadsuane and everyone about Lews Therin. She explains that the voice is real, but the fact that the voice is real is confirmation that Rand is mad, not confirmation of his sanity. She says that, according to Graendal, some people who are insane have a connection to their past lives, and can hear the voice of who they used to be. Prime example, Rand and Lews Therin obviously. So in other words, while she does say that SOME people who are mad can hear the voice of their past li…

I'm drawing to the end of this reread and it has started to occur to me that the very nature of good and evil will ensure the turning of the wheel. In order for good to truly triumph, the forces on that side would have to completely eradicate all evil, right down to the DO itself. We've seen that in order to do so, the light becomes as dark as the Shadow itself, ie, Aridhol and to a lesser extent the Whitecloaks. If the Light simply crushed all those who do evil, not necessarily darkfriends, soon all that would be left would be one very lonely virgin. Evil on the other hand seems to have the advantage, but only on the surface. Those who are truly evil cannot…

I got a post from one of my Yahoo groups about a mini documentary featureing Harriet and RJ that was posted just this evening. It's about 15 minutes long and I think was his last interview before his passing. According to some of those interviewed, no wrioting can be considered "Southern Writing" unless it features at least a few dead mules. Much to his apparent chagrin, RJ has never written a dead mule into his work so his own words were, paraphrasing "In the prologue of AMoL, I managed to insert a couple of dead mules". This tells me that, the prologue at least, was completed before he jumped the Great Boa. I don't own a great many examples of "S…

I've read the books a fair few times and can't decide. Rand - Generally hard as nails. Fought and killed at least one blademaster. Galad - Again, fought and killed at least one. Descriptions of fighting while getting Nyn. the boat descibes him as breaking the mob. Gawyn - Fought in the tower. One of the Aes Sedai the Younglings were escorting thought he was more skilled than Galad. Lan - Described as the best of the Warders, enough said. Again, he has fought and killed blademasters. …

At the beginning of each book as we know, there is a prophecy. At the front of CoT, the prophecy seems to relate to the DO. And it shall come to pass, in the days when the Dark Hunt rides, when the right hand falters and the left hand strays, that mankind shall come to the Crossroads of Twilight, and all that is, all that was, and all that will be shall be shall balance on the point of a sword, while the winds of the Shadow grow. It seems to refer to the DO, and says that when "the right hand falters and the left hand strays" or vice versa, that shadow will grow. I couldnt quite remember but don't Aran'gar and Osan'gar mean 'left hand' and 'r…

I'm sure this has probably been discussed before. When do you think Lan and Nyneave started having feelings for one another? I know it was in tEOtW and I think I'm almost sure of when Lan started feeling a spark of something for her but I'm not so sure about her. With Lan I think it was when Nyneave tracked him and Moriane down, and he never heard her or realized she was hiding behind the tree. Did Nyneave show intrest in him before or after this? I can't remember, and the book, sadly is gone. Something silly I know but I all of a sudden, after all these years in the series, wondered about it last night. Strange, I know. Well any thoughts? Sean Slater is Rand! Check it out people, I can't believe I didn't notice it before. (Yes, I watch Eastenders). He has red hair, tall but they'd still need to make him taller, his swagger is arrogant enough for Rand, he is the right build, he can definitely pull off the wild look in his eyes, he looks dangerous when he's angry-hard, cold, emotionless. I think he would pull off the scene where Rand strikes at the Seanchan with Callandor excellently (You cannot strike at me! I am the Dragon Reborn!/You cannot defeat me! I am the lord of the Morning! Rand/LTT) and also, when Rand forces himself to mourn for Moiraine. He would play the part perfectly.

I'm currently rereading tSR and something in it made me a little confused. When Rand is doing his test in Rhuidean and expriencing flashbacks into the lives of his Aiel ancestors on the last one, Charn, he relives the moment the Dark One is unbound from his prison. At this moment Charn is running through the streets of a city monologuing about how he's getting married and released from Mierin Sedai's (Lanfear's) service. He glances up at the Sharom describing as this giant flaoting white bubble and begins talking about Mierin discovering a new Source. But then a chip comes away in black fire and the whole things just pops... SO my question is....Was the Dark One's ol…

What's the relationship between Moridin and Shaidar Haran? Have we seen these two in the same scene? For some reason I don't think so but can't recall. Since the Hand of the Shadow may actually have some of the "essence" of the DO, (that's what I think, in any case) doesn't that mean that the Nae' blis, as the DO's regent, would have to obey him? "When you Obey me, you Obey Him, when you Disobey me..." Shaidar Haran doesn't need to finish that statement. Or, was SH sent out to bring all the Chosen to heel for Moridin and then recalled to the Pit of Doom once that task was completed?

I just think that too many things are left incomplete. Tarmon Gaidon, The destruction of the black tower, seanchan attack on white tower, egwene becoming official amyrlin, and all sorts of other stuff. Now, tarmon gaidon itself would most probably take up a lot of the book (at least 30% i'm assuming). I begin to wonder if RJ himself could have written this book in the way he wrote the others. now will the new author be able to give us something which I suspect even RJ himself may have not been able to? RJ had said somewhere that he would at all cost try to make it a single book, even if it is 1500 pages. Is B Sanderson upto the task of writing AMOL with the same intricate…

In TSR, chapter 26, it goes into Rands trip back through time in Rhuidian(sp) and there are ten thousand Aiel holding hands and singing around a guy going insane from the taint on the one power who ends up killing them all. Could this be the song? If so, it makes sense as to why the Tinkers haven't found it yet, as the Aiel ignore and detest them. The Aiel believe that this life is a dream, and that one day, they will be killed in this life, and "wake from the dream", to ... can it be called an afterlife if they don't believe they're alive now? For the sake of argument, to a 'waking life', if this is a 'dreaming life'. Egwene is a Dreamer, which means that she sees things which will happen, in dreams. If you dream, inside a dream, are you seeing reality? I'm not sure if that makes sense but what I mean is... We know Rand has to be die and somehow be re-born. What if the Aiel are right, if all of this is a dream, and when Rand is killed, he will 'wake from the dream' to a new, real life? What if what …
