We know from Winter's Heart the Chesmal, a Black Sister originally Yellow, induced the Red Ajah to Murder the Amrylin Seat, Sierin Vayu. This is most likey a result of the anonymous note regarding the Black Ajah that Suian left for Sierin when she fled the Tower looking for Moraine in NS. While this doesn't make the Black Ajah, it is certainly ground for trial and stilling. Sierin obviously found out the Chesmal was BA by initiating her own investigation after reading Suian's note. What is unclear is how a Yellow, even a talented one like Chesmal, convinced the Reds to murder a sitting Amyrlin. This leads me to another question. It is pointed out that th…

  3. scattered liberally throughout his tale are one of my favorite literary devices - The Red Herring. For those who aren't familiar with this device, it is a plot device that draws trhe readers attention away from what is reallt there. A few examples In Winter's Heart, The Black Sisters in residing in Camelyn are discussing their black sister in the Palace. In the next chapter, Sareitha, one of those that Elayne suspects, is out of the Palace on an unspecified "errand". In Crossroads of Twilight, Sareitha indicates her approval of Doilan Mellar, a known DF. Both of these are designed to direct attention away from the real black sister, who we now kn…

has anyone thought of the relevance that eliada's palace has to the story as a whole? i thought it was a bit strange to hear of the construction of her palace - a building that will outshine the white tower. i had an idea that once the last battle was finished or just right before that the aes sedai and the asha'man might join forces which is coming true with both parties bonding each other. maybe warders are now only other channelers and not just fighting men. anyways, i had the idea that eliada's palace would become the home of both the aes sedai and the asha'man, as it has no ties in the randland public's eye to the black tower or the white tower. wha…

So i was thinking the other day, about Elyas actually. I was reading the thread on his history and thinking about the fact that he a) taught lan b) killed 2 other warders during his flight and that got me to thinking; Lan is supposed to be one of 'the best of the best' warders. And Elyas taught him, which makes him just as good, if not better. So then I thought 'how coincidental that Perrin just happened across him' during his travels, as if that would happen in real life. The answer? Ta'veren. then I got to thinking about other coincidental things in the story, like Mat just happening to fall in love with Tuon, high up in the Seanchan, who …

I thought this is kind of odd. It may not mean anything, or it may have been discussed before. The word Callandor can be separated into Call Andor. Kind of silly but still interesting.

  9. And it shall come to pass that what men made shall be shattered, and the Shadow shall lie across the Pattern of the Age, and the Dark One shall once more lay his hand upon the world of man. Women shall weep and men quail as the nations of the earth are rent like rotting cloth. Neither shall anything stand or abide… Yet one shall be born to face the Shadow, born once more as he was born before, and shall be born again, time without end. The Dragon shall be Reborn, and there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth at his rebirth. In sackcloth and ashes shall he clothe the people, and he shall break the world again by his coming, tearing apart all ties that bind. Like the…

  10. is there no limit to the amount of the Power that someone using one of the keys, can use? it mentions that rand got close to being burned out, but never how much one could draw. say LTT or Ishmael got at the male Key... or both linked? or even a circle? or like when rand and asmodien were fighting over it? is there a buffer on it (like all other Angeral)? or can one just draw so much that it consumes them and the rest of the world?

Sammael in Illian. 3. Bel'al in Tear. 4. Mesaana in the Tower. 5. Graendal in Arad Domon. 6. Semirhage in Seanchan. 7. Asmodean the Aiel. Ishy/Baalzy/Mori wasn't in a state to participate in kingdom conquest. Lanfear had ( probably ) asked for and been given the Dragon Reborn. Aginor and Balthamel got themselves taken out before they could get into the initial kingdom sweepstakes. Moggy was ( for all that everybody despises her ) probably too …

This has been bothering me. Aiel means Dedicated-we all know that. It is mentioned in the books that the Aiel sometimes call themselves People of the Dragon, and again we all know that clan chiefs are marked with the Dragon, Car'a'carn marked with two. What gets me is, what is the connection between the Aiel and Lews Therin? There must be one, as he was THE DRAGON, which sounds like they are his people. Lews Therin was never mentioned as being Aiel, and the Aiel have always said they don't give a monkeys about the Dragon Reborn, only the Car'a'carn. It just seems wrong, what with the Aiel being so loyal to clan and sept, that they would call themselves the people of …

Whether or not the Wheel of Time gets made into a movie or television series or something in between, I think a lot of us can agree that we'd be very interested in seeing how the writing is handled in adaptation. Just for fun I've been writing out notes and breakdowns of what I would like to see in either a movie or a series on television. I found that I like to change things a bit to try to fit more into an hour, or 13 hours. Some things get more elaborate, while other things I drop completely. I guess I'm wondering what are the things that you would want to focus on if you were writing the screenplay for a movie or a television series. What goes in, what get…

Hi all, I just finished (finally!) making a small website to remember Jordan and share all the fun about meeting him. I hope when you read it, you remember all the fun times talking about wot or even meeting RJ or talking to RJ on his blog. Nothing is on it that you haven't read before (at least if you have read all the reports)The only thing extra are the audio files from Dragon Con. I hope you enjoy listing to it. Sorry for the bad quality. Let me know what you think and if you have also reports, than I will post a link. http://home.casema.nl/e.f.delaat/ Isabel

I think that the movies should last for about 5 Hours each. That way it would have a better chance of doing the books justice. But hey that's just me I want to hear what you guys think! You might think 2 or 3 hours or heck you might not want them to make a movie so there would be no chance of ruing the books.

Rereading the TEOTW again and have found the following when Min is first speaking to Rand in Baerelon: TEOTW, Strangers and Friends, P. 216. "...I see about the big, curly-haired fellow are a wolf, and a broken crown and trees flowering all around him..." We've done the wolf and the crown to death, but how about the trees flowering? Is it a reference to the Song? It might make sense, of all 3 of the Tav., Perrin has had most experience of dealing with the Tinkers. If any of them were to find it, Perrin would be the obvious choice, in my opinion. Any thoughts?

I may have missed something but The Stone of Tear was referred to in the Prochecies as "The Stone that never falls" and to back this up it has been stated that it has never been taken of conquered. If this is true, how is it that Artur Hawkwing ruled the entire Westlands from the Spine the the Aryth Ocean. Darlin says in aCoS that Tear hasn't had a single ruler since Hawkwing. Did he rule everything except the Stone. Is there some history I missed?

I just had a thought... Could it be that the DO is Rand from one full Cycle ago? That Rand is both the beginning and the end of the Wheel, thus fastening the two 'ends' together so the Wheel keeps on turning? Given that there's a climatic battle coming up (DO vs. Rand) that neither side is allowed to win (DO wins = no more Wheel, Rand wins = no more DO), i can't help but shake the feeling RJ was planning to have Rand take the DOs place in the prison for the cycle to be able to repeat itself. Having been trapped in there for Ages afterwards, 'Dark Rand' would then logically start wanting to destroy the Wheel to free himself from this endless cycle... but then be…

  26. Okay I know this is like an old subject, but doesn't it piss some you off that all the women are self-indulging jerk-offs?!?! Like Elaida, her head's so full of bull@#$! that she can't even see that the WT is falling apart right in front of her. And Egwene, with all this crap about Aes Sedai being "important." Okay, they might be, but not to the point that every Aes Sedai thinks she's as good as a king. At the end of Lord of Choas, how many of you wanted Rand to just line the women up and still them one by one?! And also Elayne, that woman really makes me want to rip the book in half. How can anybody be so in love and yet be so retarded?? Min is okay, but she also has her…

No response needed, but I have just been wanting to say thank you to all of the people on this forum. I am having some issues at work and it is refreshing when part of my day can be spent talking about somethings that not only interest me but can keep me from dwelling on the problems that I am dealing with at work. No matter what kind of day I'm having, I can click on and find a lively discussion that even if I don't have a response, will make my day better. I know I'm rambling a bit, but I do appreciate you all for helping me find something to help me through my day. THANKS!!!
