Can anyone tell me how dice is played? I'm aware that there are different types of dice, like two, three, four or five dice. The only dice game I know how to play is with three dice: -roll til you get a pair, they cancel each other out, the remaining dice is your score (highest wins) -if someone rolls three of a kind, they add together, and only a higher three of a kind or a 4,5,6 can beat them. -If the highest score is matched, you push, re-buy in, and the die go around again. -4,5,6- automatic win -1,2,3- automatic loss Ever since I started reading WOT, i always wanted to know how Mat plays dice. I get the drift the five dice game is the one he plays t…

Hey, I can't seem to find if this has been brought up or not, anyways.. I've alsways firgured ever since TGH that Rand will finish the Dark One off by "Sheathing the Sword" He hasn't done it yet, obviously, since he's still alive, and well when Lan told Rand about it, you could just tell it will be important later on. I guess the question is, if that does happend, did RJ has the guts to kill Rand off? Personally I don't think so, The story so far is like, what? 9000+ pages? He's had all that time to kill main characters off, but nope, every one lives still, like its a cable TV show. (I don't think Moraine counts, she'll be back) Don't get me wrong, I love…

So the last time I heard of Logain, he had escaped from Salidar. Am I right in thinking it was Halima released him? I am nearing the end of tPoD, and Toveine is leading her AS and Guards to the Black Tower, to 'defeat them'. Now, my first thought was 'Good luck, love, you'll need it', but now i'm just confused. She and her party were on their way to meet up with another 9 parties, each travelling to their rendevous point, when they were accosted by Asha'man. There was a 'tall man, with shoulders an axe-handle wide' which I first thought must be Taim. Toveine wheeled her horse and bolted, intending to get far enough away from him that he lost his shield on her, …

Okay guys, I'm new here and havent been around long enough to know whats been deiscussed and whats not, and so if this little tid-bit has been dug up before, my apolagies... i did a quick search through topics containing Taim, but didnt find it there, though there was more topics than i was prepared to read though. In LoC, page 109 of the UK paperback (chapter 3 A womans eyes), Rand is just introducing Taim to 'the farm', taking Taim there via travelling. My observation is this - when Rand creates the gateway he calls it a gateway, and between then and Taims line to Rand in their conversation on page 109 about finding the talent in others, Rand never once mentions wh…

Let's say in Tar Valon, at a time coinciding with the beginning of TEotW. You are who you are. You can't channel. You know only the skills and things that you know. (That means most of you will not blademasters, etc...). You're dropped into the Tower grounds. You have no clothes or possessions (like the Terminators at the start of the Terminator movies). You've been told that you are to spend the rest of your life there. What do you do?

  6. Started by Morindin,

First off, what is the definition of a good blade master... to me it is someone perfect with the forms, a quick thinker, fast with his hands, improvise rapidely and most importantly kills quickly without fluff or showmanship (remember Valda toying with Galad)... Rand is very good but his being taveren and the One Power helps him... plus he did let himself get injured more than once using questionnable tactics... Galad is extremly good but I beleive when fighting, he is too rightous and fights fair, so he is not that great for that reason... he almost got killed by Valda after RJ wrote many many times about how good he is... and he got beaten by a sick sheepherde…

  7. Hello all! My name is Robert Riddle and I am a graduating film student at CSU Long Beach. Since picking up The Eye of the World, I have been changed in a wonderful way and so has my filmmaking. My thesis film has been highly influenced by Jordan's world, and I hope to be able to officially dedicate it to his memory when it is completed. I wanted to share it with his other fans because I believe that The Wheel of Time is deserving of the same theatrical response that LOTR's and Harry Potter has recieved. Hope you enjoy, look for Torendion's coming this spring! http://www.myspace.com/torendion

It's been made very clear since the first book, that Ishamael has had a very direct hand in the development in the Seanchan culture. One of his black sisters made the first A`dame's and he had some influence over Luthare Pendrag. He or someone he controled Modified the Seanchan versions of the Prophicys of the Dragon. And who knows what else, no matter what happens in AMOL, the Seanchan issue isn't going to be resolved completly. Which I think should be a bone for us to try to convince Harriet and Brandon to do that particular outrigger. We know RJ planned it to some extent, Mat and Tuon 10 years after TG apparently trying to retake the Seanchan empire. It's a socie…

First of all, I am new to the site, so if this has been addressed before, I apologize, but I hope to maybe put a new spin on the question. I don't agree with the philosophy of Isam/Luc being the same "molding" of two people similar to Fain/Mordeth. Fain was the Dark One's and was "turned into" the dog trailing Rand and the boys before he came to Shadar Logoth. So, Mordeth captured him and made him more than what the Dark One had already done. You can say that Fain did this to himself. He could have waited outside Shadar Logoth if he was afraid to enter even with the Dark One inside him. Luc/Isam is supposed to be a Dark One (or forsaken) creation. But h…

I was wondering how widespread this Talent was despite it being considered a pretty rare Talent or only being "rediscovered". Obviously the Aiel have had the Talent as an ongoing thing, with Wise Ones being able to dreamwalk. Currently I believe the only remaining dreamwalkers are Amys, Melaine and Baer after Seanna died. If there are other dreamwalkers amongst the Aiel Wise Ones then I don't think they are mentioned. The three named seem to be the "dream council" if you will, or the only recognized Dreamers. In the Tower, it seems like Egwene is the only Dreamer, the last being Corianin Nedeal. I don't think any of the Aiel are more than 500 years old so it…

Something has been bugging me about Liandrin. Firstly I was just going to write her off like Galina. I think Galina has "gotten hers" and she probably won't be seen again. The more I thought about Liandrin, though, the more I couldn't really figure out what was going to happen to her. She's hidden among Suroth's servants, but Suroth has sul'dam and damane amongst her staff, doesn't she? I can't imagine that none of the damane have pointed out that Liandrin is marath'damane. Even though Moghedien put that crazy shield on her, the ability to channel can still be sensed. Also, any damane surveying Liandrin would be able to see the shield and I would think …

I did a search for this, but nothing turned up. I was just taking at look at the FAQ section of the website and noticed one asking about Berelain and her relationship with the Aiel. The "answer" was a case of "we don't know, maybe we'll find out later." I was under the impression that Rhuarc was Berelain's father, or at least he thought he was. I don't think it's ever confirmed but ... 1. I'm sure that a group of wise ones are talking about it and one of them comments on how Rhuarc should treat her; that if they were father and daughter he should do something about her behaviour(?). -- Not sure what book this is in. 2. The number of times Berelain…

I don't remember if anyone tackled this, but I'm really curious about Cadsuane's ter'angreal that she decorates her hair with. I don't know if any of the books have mentioned exactly how many she has in there. I know that she has birds, fish, stars and moons and she "earned" them through her lessons with that toothless Tammy in the Black Hills. So far I remember that during the Choedan Kal battle, she had one that hung from a chain and detected saidin, and also told where the channeling was coming from. I believe this is why she thought Nyneave's ter'angreal "should" tell where the direction of the channeling came from, because Cadsuane's does. When we fi…

I just wanted to see what you all thought about the Void. Your likes and dislikes. Is it only helping Rand become even harder? Granted it keeps the pain he feels daily at bay but at what cost? I was wondering is it related to some real world tech? I sure would like to have some void in my bag of tricks! He he he!

  16. Who do you think are the strongest channelers from greatest to least? (Forsaken and those from this age) You can put Forsaken who are dead as well. I'm really just interested in top ten kind of thing, but feel free to rank as many as you want. 1. Rand 2. Ishmael 3. Lanfear 4. Alivia 5. Nynaeve 6. Cyndane 7. Demandred

  17. Started by Shaidar,

If you were a Randlander woman who is about to be raised to the shawl? (Well, except for the Black, you'd have to figure something else out for that). Also give the order of preference. My rating would be: Blue - politics, like the color Brown - more access to old interesting stuff Grey - politics, but more lawyerly / boring negotiations Green - lots of cavorting, like the color White - don't like the color Yellow - don't like mediciney stuff Red - most of them don't seem nice Black - not much point, not very nice at all, have to try more to get in Sorry if it was done before but if it was that was quite some time ago.

I was wondering if anyone had a clue how the black and white towers would eventualy be consolidated. It has to happen or it will break out into a war over control of a sorts. With the black tower being controled by say Logain and the white by Egwene you would think that they would have different aims and plans and that they would eventualy but heads and bring about very bad things. Then again it's possiable that no one will be able to channel after TG who knows. Thoughts... [glow=green,1,500]Darth_Andrea[/glow]

I know this is going to sound crazy, but I had a thought the other day reading a passage with Olver in it. RJ has said in the past that Olver is important, but other that that all we get is a RAFO. I am just wondering, if RJ has managed to put himself in the story? Note the similarity between Olver and his real middle name? I know...it is crazy.....

I would LOVE to see this happen. Early in book 12 Faile goes missing again. Perrin starts to lose his mind after all the traipsing about in KoD and now it all begins again. However, there are absolutely NO SIGNS of where she has gone. A few days later, Moridin appears in Perrins dreams. "We have her, Wolfbrother. All you have to do is serve Shaitan, and she will be yours again." Perrin by now knows that these dreams are as real as they get, and in the waking world he starts to lose it abit. He begins to convince himself that he isnt as important to Tarmon Gaidon as people think, that if one man went over to the Shadow it wouldnt make that much difference. H…

When Rand is fighting with Rahvin, Rahvin tries to change him in LTT and in a wolf(?). So I was thinking while Nynaeve is in Tel'aran'rhiod couldn't she have thought that the old wound of Rand would disappear? If she did that he would be in this mess... Or that's what I think ;D

When/Where/How did you begin reading WoT? I first read EotW in 1999 when I was ten when I saw it on a bookshelf at a friends house. I read the prolouge, asked to borrow it, and finished it at about midnight two days later (I was a wierd 5th grader...). I then waited very impatiently for the second book to arrive via library request, and eventually became smart enough to request two or three at a time so I didn't have to wait to read the next book. ;D Now I've re-read them all 6 times (halfway through the 7th) and get on here to discuss random things nearly daily. If this isn't proof RJ is Ta'veren I don't know what is...

Wasn't there a POV where the wolves tell him that they can tell a Black AS from a White AS? I know Fain can do it as well but I thought the wolves could do it as well. Please give me the quote if you have it or tell me if I am wrong.

  26. Started by aevogt,

I'm wondering why has Perrin not seen Elyas or any of the other possible wolf brothers (we know of one other for certain) in the Wolf Dream? It seems a little odd that a Wolf Brother could talk to the wolves while awake but not have access to the Wolf Dream.

Ok Rand's Dad found out from Perrin in KOD that Rand was the Dragon Reborn. So how will he react to Rand the next time they see each other. I think at first Tam will not be able to meet Rand's eyes then will tell himself this is my boy and give him a hug

  28. has anyone picked up on how many thing from history and mythology abound the Randland? for example, the 3 women rand loves, elayne, aviendha and min. in briton mythology, the triple goddess was made of 3 seperate women, the maiden, representing fertility, (and who happens to be pregnant at the moment?) the warrior, and the wise woman, who all together form a greater whole than the sum of their parts.

Don't know if this would be the right spot to post but here goes. I am a very big WoT fan and i also am a big fan of another series called Sword of Truth by Terry Goodkind. So my question is do any of you know of some good/great books that have a similar style as WoT? I really love the series and i need some suggestions on some good fantasy books that are similar. Any Help would be most appreciated. Thankyou

I've started my own re-read to parallel Brandon's and i came accross something peculiar today. I'm sure everyone remembers Rand's feeling that he was being watched in the beginning of the Great Hunt. He describes it specifically as the feeling of eyes on him, peering at him. He even specifies that it feels like one set only. Now in my first read through i thought it was Fain that he was feeling... a reference to Fain's peculiar sense of him, something which is reinforced time and again in this book. But thats where it gets curious, because later in the same section we get a POV from Liandrin wherein she has the exact same feeling. Again, she describes it as the feeli…
