Let me start by saying I'm deeply sorry for RJ's family and other loved ones. I don't in the least want to come across as callous to their pain. As the weeks have passed since RJ's departure the initial panic that the series will never be finished has passed. I have spent years waiting for the next book, hours reading and rereading the existing ones. I was crushed at the thought of not knowing how everything plays out. The annoucement that RJ prepared for the possibility that he would not see his work finished eased my fears. Now I know if I am just patient those who were close to him will see it finished. However what about those other two prequels? I am ju…

let me start off by saying I found the novels mildly entertaining in the beginning. Even the philosophical rants were in the beginning thought provoking if a bit long winded. As the Novels wore on it became more and more difficult to power through Goodkind's "look how smart I am" approach, but when I start something be it book, game, project, etc. I like to power through it no matter how old it can sometimes get. You might say that I might have a small touch of OCD in that aspect. Unlike the WOT novels there is no way I would re-read those books. Without getting into specifics I consider myself a quietly religious person. According to Goodkind that makes me a cow…

I was told this weekend by a friend of my sons' that Raymond Feist (an author apparently, sorry, I'm not familiar with him) was a good friend of RJ and his family. He, (Feist) has a blog on the internet, where he has stated that AMoL was finished by RJ, and is only awaiting Harriet's editing. He, (the friend of sons') is not the type to make things up, but he did hear it second-hand. Has anyone here heard anything? It didn't seem to correlate with what Jason has said, but the friend was quite definite about it.

Warning, contains spoilers and stereotypes: I did this a few years ago, and out of memory it now possible to do an update with KoD included. There is an undoubted logic to events in the books, based on the Forsaken's names and former occupations in AoL, according to the BWB, and by what happens to them: Ishamael- the philosopher Balthamel- the historian Aginor- the mad scientist aka frankenstein Be'lal- the lawyer Asmodean- the musician, the failed child prodigy Lanfear- the physicist, the ambitious one Rahvin- the celebrity of whom nothing else is knows aside from the celebrity. Sammael- the less bright athlete Moghedien- the cowardly business cons…

I wonder if this was mentioned somewhere before - have we seen an example of a person/acting character of a book turned into Shadow via 13 Murdraal etc.? Have I missed something in the books? Or maybe RJ (We miss you...) spoke on this?

I could find anything on this via the search bar so I'll put it here. We know two of Rand's questions. 1) Cleansing the Taint 2) Surviving TG. And I had a thought on the third. Rand knew the symbol to get to Ruihedan sp?. How? I can't recall any one telling him or him mentioning how to get it. And for that matter how and why did he decided to go to Ruihedian in the first place?

So i wrote the post about Mat, and his character and personality and how much i actually like him. My current book (CoS) spends much of it's time in Ebou Dar with Mat, Elayne, Nynaeve etc, and i cant help but compare the excellence of Mat's character with the relatively poor character of Nynaeve. I dont dislike Nyn, don't get me wrong, she's a main character and i'll always have a softspot for her, but there is something ... grinding ... about her. She grates on my nerves. Granted we dont know as much about her but she seems incredibly immature for her age - do you think she's just a victim of the whole 'women think women are so much better than men' theme tha…

I'm slightly amused at the thought of the conversation Elayne and Rand are going to have when he returns to her. I anticipate it to go something like this; Elayne - "HI!! Oh my god how are you? I've missed you soooo much." Rand - "Yeah, me too. What's with the babies?" Elayne - "Ah, yeah. The babies. About that..." Also, how come Rand cant feel her morning sickness / pregnancy pains through the bond? Surely he'll think she's being murdered when she's in labour? Wonder who'll get the biggest shock if he feels her labour pains and decides to travel to her... Him when he jumps out of the doorway to find his woman in labour with his babies, or her when he jumps …

So I’ve been thinking, what’s in it for the dark friends? We all know that they been promised power and life eternal, but can that be it? From the readers point of view their lives seems pretty harsh, I mean they have to kill, maim and worse on the commands of higher ranking followers of the DO (and there is always someone above you). And for what? A vague promise that most of them can’t logically believe will be kept, after all DF’s have been around for thousands of years and most of them are dead. So can there be any more immediate benefits? Like the ones you could expect from being a member of an organized criminal organization, money, some power, protection…

I know it isn't the right forum to post this. But upon reading Harriet poem, couldn't resist. Hope the tough guys in the forum would forgive the slight. The poem, in one simple word, broke my heart. So I decided to do something for Harriet. As trivial as it might be. Anyway, I fell asleep, and suddenly found myself in the "Plain of Existance". (Now people, don't steal the concept, I am working on it for my first fantasy novel ;D). And there I found RJ hanging around, with a glass of cold bear. I asked him if he has anything or any message for Harriet. He asked me to give him an hour or so. After an hour he came back with a poem written for Harriet's birthday. No…

I dont think i've got to this bit yet this time 'round and cant remember it from last time. What is Aviendha's Talent? Is it for 'reading' ter'angreal? That she knows what they do when she touches them?

So at the end of CoS, Galina's POV mentions the 3 new oaths which replace the 3 original oaths, when you become a sister of the Black Ajah. Do we have any idea what these oaths are? Also the rod which Sammael gives to Sevannah - is this THE oath rod, or just something very similar?

I was just wondering if anyone else grasped the significance of the ter'angreal that has books stored in it. The Brown Ajah and the groups of scholars Rand has been gathering would KILL to get there hands on it. How many times through this series have we heard about manuscripts and books that only scraps or just the title remain for. This could be another answer for the reclaiming of lost knowledge. Who knows what priceless knowledge could be stored in there. World altering, life altering, priceless knowledge. I rate the technology level in Randland to the equivalent of late 1700s/ early 1800s. Imagine if someone in that time got their hands on a computer dis…

Now i have no idea if this has been discussed, but i have been listening to the final books recently and this sprung to mind for the first time. When mistress Anan see's matts medallion, she goes all weak at the knees. I originally thought that this was only becuase she use to be AS. But another thought (which may have been brought up already) came to mind. That she use to be Corianin Nedeal that use to observe and study Ter Angreal? It makes sense to me from her reaction of Matts Medallion. She seems to over react to that considering she has been around these things for a long time, finding runaways for the Kin. If she had been Corianin Nedeal then her reaction make…

All indications point to Demandred as being a Seachan lord somewhere in Tanachio. Couple reasons: 1) He always work with Semihirage and Semihirage was last seen as Tuon's truthspeaker before she was captured by Rand, 2)Sammael's allusions to Demandred to Graendal when he was referring to Demandred's proxies in the south. 3)Demandred's ego and strong desire to be in charge of a major power and Seachan is the biggest power out there. What do you think?

So it has been often remarked that our main guys are based on (or very much resemble) Norse gods, specifically; Mat - Odin ('main' god, also considered god of war, battle) Rand - Tyr (God of Justice) Perrin - Thor ((or Slavic god Perun) - god of thunder and lightening and there are other mythological / religious parallels also, for example Sammael (Samael) is supposed to be the name Satan held as an angel. Do you think that a) any of these comparisons are true and b) they influence the plotlines / characters in any significant way? Do you see any other comparisons to be made amongst the other Characters?

I've just been looking through the gallery and as per usual have been mesmerised by lord_of_chaos_jr's portrayals of our favourite people. Currently Birgitte's arrow is aimed at the person at the desk beside me whenever i return to my desktop. What I wondered is, is anyone sufficiently decent with clay or metal as to make 3D figurines based on these fantastic artworks?? I'd certainly take a Moghedian, Moiraine and a Birgitte.

For some reason I remember either Mat or Perrin being told that they could be taught to channel sometime in the first few books. Did this happen or is it just a figment of my imagination (which I strongly suspect). If it did happen when and who was involved? ???

Sorry for posting more questions that have surely been covered before, but I'm in the middle of a reread and I can't find the answers... What exactly is the link between destroying the evil in Shadar Logoth and the cleansing of the Taint? Thank you for your infinite patience.

So Gawyn was brought up understanding that he would be required to give his life for Elayne if so required. He is a skilled leader and soldier but most of this has been taught to him from an early age and i feel that duty weighs heavy on his shoulders. I feel that Mat has the same qualities, as we progress through the books, but these have been thrust upon him, or else he has 'developed' them; he protects Elayne and Nynaeve and later Tuon, he leads armies, he is an excellent tactician. However certainly for a long time, Mat doesnt seem to feel the weight of his responsibilities in the same way as Gawyn - do you think this is down to personality differences, or the f…

Rand Al'Thor is the rebirth of Lews Therin. Lews and Rand are in essence the same person. That much is explained clearly in the books. The part I don't understand is Lews Therin talking in Rands head. Is Rand actually talking to himself or is Jordan saying that Lews Therin is a separate entity. I don't understand that. It seems to me like Rand is talking with Lews Therin, with another man, even though he is supposed to be Lews Therin and that can't be possible anyway because Rand and Lews are the same person ( even though it is portrayed in that way in the books). You can't have a conversation with memories. So it can only be two things as far as I can see, either Rand/Le…

I am curious as to what abilities are known to ecist by just wanting something to happen really bad. Similar to when Rand heals Bella when the party is fleeing the Two Rivers (but he does not notice, only Moraine does). Another situation was when Aviendha was able to "read" some angreal etc., what other angreal could be used without the power and for what purpose.

Trakand 01 brought something up in another thread and it has been something I have been wondering about...and it lead to more questions. Anyone's thoughts, ideas and/or relivent book passages would be appreciated. 1) What do multiple warders of the same Aes Sedai feel and sense of each other? anything? 2) If Rand were to bond someone - with him already being bonded - what kind of connection would his bondee have to his bonder? Would Elayne and Alayna be able to sense someone he bonded? how would it effect the bond? (it doesn't specifically have to be about Rand, basically, it could be about any channler who is bonded that bonds someone else) 3) Could…
