I'm just having fun...but this verse by Steely Dan reminded me of Rand when he got two totally different letters from Elayne. Damn -- she skipped dimensions Was it something that I said? Or something I was thinking When she opened up my head? Let me make it right baby -- never mind how There's a crazy little place I know called "Be There Now" I'm so addicted to WOT ;D

In The Eye of the World, the second page of the prologue, Ishamael uses a form of travelling that I'm not very familiar with. It says, " the air rippled, shimmered, solidified into a man." I've read all the accounts of travelling and skimming but they never really say that someone appears. It says they open a gateway and step through it but in the prologue it doesnt mention any gateway. Is this some form of teleporting that was lost in the age of legends or could it be that this early in the book Robert Jordan didn't want to explain all the details of travelling???

Well, I thought it would be interesting to know just how tall people think Rand and the Aiel tend to be. Would you say that Aiel tend to be around 6 feet even, or would you go further? I personally tend to think of them around my own height, which is 6'5" (about 1.97m I believe).

In ACoS, Chapter 3, "Hill of the Golden Dawn", when Perrin finally has a chance to ask Feraighin if Faile is well, she replies, "I think Faile Aybara is well, 'Sei'cair'. I don't remember the Aiel with him later calling him this, or any other reference to it. Any one here speak the old tongue well enough to know what this means?

Ok, I've got this here theory on LTT and Rand and Moridin. And you'll will most likely disagree with me here. Lews' Transplant: In ACoS, we see that Rand and Moridin have connected themsleves to each other with the use of balefire, and in KoD, this is further reinforced with one of Rands POV's. He describes the face he sees in his head; "...the face of the man from Shadar Logoth floated in his head for a moment. He looked furious. And near to sicking up. Without any doubt he was aware of Rand in that moment, and Rand of him. Move a hair in any direction, and they would touch. No more than a hair." We see here, that Moridin and Rand have some sort of mental li…

  8. In the Knife of dreams Mat is attacked after leaving an inn (Tuon thinks it was an "Hell"). After the fight, Thom tells everybody that he is getting old and starting seeing things that can not be. But that he will forget it becouse he is getting old. It appeares to be something about Selucia. But what is it? It is written as something important but is not mentioned afterwards. Does anybody have a clue what happened? (Mat whas fighting and did not see it...)

"Courage to strengthen, fire to blind, music to daze, iron to bind." Why those three? What is it about fire or light, music, and iron that worry the Finns enough to make them prohibited items in Finnland? My guesses, and feel free to poke holes in them, are: Their vision consists primarily of infrared. Most of what they see is heat images. Any fire or other source of infrared would therefore blind them. Their hearing extends either into infrasound or ultrasound or maybe even both. Music with it's harmonics could stun or daze them. I don't have a theory or even a guess about how the presence of iron might bind them in some way. Please, somebody sup…

  13. WARNING do not read this if possible theories based on the books and pure conjecture will spoil it for you! OK. Sure these are just my Guesses but remember - You were warned! Luckers - this is not to undermine your EXELLENT work. Sorry if mine is not as eloquent and well laid out as yours. Just don't have time. This is only part one - I have maybe 2 more. Matt & Finnland must occur early in the Prologue because so much hinges on these issues for the rest of the book. In my view RJ should have put this part in the last book but did not because he, understandably, liked the Marriage & “Highness Matt” ending. R…

  15. Started by Gerrendus,

So i dont often post on this board, but this is something i was thinking of the other day. We know most of the chosen are lurking around, imitating or controlling people in randland. So...where is moridin manipulating people? or better to say where is he hiding out. It may have been mentioned in the books, but i havent read them for a bit, adn i may have forgotten if it did, so sorry I think there would be some irony if moridin was manipulating or was Taim, as ow ironic would it be that Rand's greatest enemy so to speak (seeing as the DO probably wouldnt directly fight rand) was the head/had corrupted/trained what is arguable rand's most valuable fighting force

Seriously, what are his reasons for writing such poor ungrateful female characters who do nothing but bitch all day and come up with putdowns for men in particular but also for each other at the cost of attending to important matters? If you look at Rand, Perrin, etc, they usually put away their personal issues and keep their eye on the ball. The only female characters I actually like are Faile, Birgitte and Moiraine.

I was just re-reading The Dragon Reborn and i noticed a part in the chapter The Gray Man where after Egwene and Nyn find the gray man dead Sheriam shows up all of a sudden - when Nyn asks her about it she gets startled and then uses the excuse that the mistress of novices doesnt need to answer to her. not sure if there is already a thread about this. but is Sheriam Black Ajah?

Been thinking about this for a while but I have never posted yet so here goes. Final lines are read and the series ends. Epilogue is a woman reading from a very old and large book. She is sitting with children reading and or teaching. The book closes and on the cover you see "The Wheel of Time" by Loial son of Arent son of Halan sort of corny end but I would love it. just my 2 cents

If RJ didn't write 500 pages of wagon rides into each volume just so he could sell more books . . . how long would the WOT series be?

  20. OK ... as a disclaimer, let me say I hesitated to even throw this out there, at the risk of giving myself a massive headache. Its a subject that touches on several other threads and theories which are not resolved, and are a matter of some contention. But, I'm curious, so here it is: How in the heck is the Shadow going to assault Tar Valon? And if they don't, what are they going to do about the Aes Sedai? Let me explain why I phrased the question so negatively. The Shadow has some massive logistical problems in any contemplated assault on the city of Tar Valon. The main one is the river Erinin. Tar Valon in on an island, and the river on either side is consi…

So here's what we know about Snakes and Foxes so far: 1 - You can't win unless you cheat. 2 - It was created for remembrance of how to deal with the 'finn (as revealed by Brigitte) 3 - Snakes are a piece shaped like a wavy line. 4 - Foxes are a piece shaped like a triangle. 5 - You open the game by making that sign and saying the words (as quoted above). 6 - When you roll for the S&F you move them towards your pieces by the shortest path possible. What we know of the 'Finns (in brief) 1 - One looks like snakes, the other like foxes 2 - Snakes answer questions, Foxes grant requests/wishes 3 - You get 3 from each (questions or wishes) 4 - Matt was able to …

The WoT Simpsons cast list inspired me to make one for Harry Potter. But I lack the time and brilliance to match everyone up. So here's a beginning list for you to revise and add to as you like: Rand: Harry (duh) Mat: Ron Weasley Moiraine: Dumbledore Lan: McGonagall Loial: Hagrid (actually, Hagrid has a lot of Aginor in him too. I call him "Aginoial") Galad: Cedric Diggory or Percy Weasley (can't decide) Cadsuane: Molly Weasley Herid Fel: Arthur Weasley Elyas: Remus Lupin Ingtar: Quirrel Mesaana: Rita Skeeter (big headline: "Insane 'Dragon' Captured At Last") or Umbridge ("Remember, children, that the Great Lord of the Dark is always right. Anyone who c…

In the eye of the world, in the glossary section under warder, it says, "what the Aes Sedai gain from the bonding is a closely-held secret." Does anyone know what this closely held secret is? It can't just be a strong man to do their dirty work because why would that be a closely held secret?

So, anyway, i met up with an Australian author named Jennifer Fallon last night (brilliant woman, her series, especially the Second Sons trilogy, the Hythrun Chronicals and the Tide Lords series are amazing--i put them as being very close to even with the Wheel of Time). Anyway, we were there and her editor/webgoddess shows up, and anyway foreign publication came up, and it turns out that she is published with Tor in America. Anyway, it turns out that Tor may have been assured that if Robert Jordan cannot continue then Harriet will finish it. Now, this could very VERY possibly turn out to not be true. I have heard whispers of it elsewhere, but even so--complete he…

... Well the topic says it. I'm looking a huge, digital, high-resolution map of Rand-Land. It could be of only certain parts of the world, or the whole thing (I can always splice multiple maps together). If anyone has seen something like this online and could point me in the right direction, I would be greatly appreciated. Also, if we can't find one, if anyone would be willing to work with me on creating one that would be awesome. -n3cr0-
